Chapter 13 Starry Sky Cleaner (Thirteen)

The two chatted for about twenty minutes, with the serious person doing most of the talking while Jiang Ling listened. In her opinion, this young man already possessed most of the qualities of his predecessors. If his abilities were any indication, he would soon have the opportunity to become completely independent.

As if by some mysterious coincidence, before the windmill was offline, she mysteriously gave him a deadline and advised him to act decisively. Although she did not reveal any confidential information, it seemed that he had figured something out.

Exiting the virtual space, Jiang Ling flipped through a few more pages of online news before yawning and removing her scarf. News these days can hardly be considered news. All media outlets are now strictly regulated by artificial intelligence, and the fake news that used to appear so frequently has essentially vanished. Ground-level news is of little use to the citizens of the community, and community news updates very slowly. Unless it's a hot topic, it usually takes several weeks to a month or two to update. Of course, in contrast, the entertainment sector is booming. Just listing all the stars in the universe would take up an entire data storage unit.

It was still early, and Jiang Ling tried to take a nap against the wall, but before she could fall into a deep sleep, the walkie-talkie in the room rang again.

This time, it was an internal communication from the "Home." On the other end of the speaker was Xiao Zhou, the "Ministry of Foreign Affairs" aboard the engineering vessel. His tone was a little apologetic, but his words didn't fall into a low-key tone. "Boss, I just got a side job. It's quite far from here, and it'll take a day or two to get there and back. It's for a communications relay damaged by a micrometeorite. The location is in mid-orbit. They're offering 3,800 points for the work and materials, which is equivalent to a year's salary. Do you want to do it?"

"How urgent is it?" Jiang Ling asked.

"It seems to be very urgent. They have posted rewards on several channels. I guess it is the collective assets of a large community." Xiao Zhou replied.

“Is anyone rushing to take the order now?”

"Lin Shuang found several different tourist IP addresses, but they were all agents. Do you think the offer is too low?"

"No, I think it's a bit high. This kind of maintenance work usually doesn't exceed 2,500, unless it's a prototype or a black product that is not registered with the Internet monitoring. You have to check which organization the person who posted the reward is from? I dare not do anything illegal." Jiang Ling did not comment.

Xiao Zhou took more than ten seconds to answer: "I told them about this, and guess what—they immediately raised the price to 5400 points! If they didn't have legitimate documents, I would have suspected they were running an online scam!"

"Did they mention the model of the satellite?"

"No, but you didn't mention it the last few times?"

"That's nonsense! We all know the National Power Group, and they even gave us four booster rockets for free! Don't tell me you've forgotten so quickly." Jiang Ling scolded him with a smile, then continued, "It's going to be difficult without the model. Tell them exactly what I said—it's against the rules for them to do that. If they don't have 7,500, then forget it."

"...Okay, they said their bottom line is 8,300. If you want more, you'll have to find someone else."

"Well, leave them one thousand. I'll take the order. How much fuel is left in Unit 2?" Jiang Ling gave the answer.

"Okay, let me take a look... 61% is left. The onboard supercomputer simulation concluded it's enough, and if we use it sparingly, we can still have 22% left. They suggested we bring more engineering plastic to prevent the damage from being too large and difficult to repair. And we should get there within four hours. They noticed that the satellite's orbit is decreasing. I suspect there's a fuel leak."

"Okay, I understand."
