Chapter 16 Fei Lian

After the disaster, every survivor becomes a legend. This doesn't mean they are great, but simply because they survived, they were able to write down their experiences.

Looking back at their journey, people will marvel at their good luck, feel sad that the bullets flew around them, and envy the monsters that deviated from their path.

The devil cannot harm them simply because he has not touched them.

However, this is just survivor bias. Little do we know that every survivor is surrounded by countless victims.

Those who are in distress each have their own tragedy, but those who survive all end up in the same place.

Li Wenjia saw himself reflected in Changgu's story. He had always thought himself special, but now it seemed he was just one of a million ordinary people. He wasn't alone among the chosen ones.

"You're well-equipped! Which direction are you coming from? What, the east? Are there settlements there? A metropolitan area? Huh? If we had known earlier, we would have run over there. At least the control there is looser than here!"

Li Wenjia quickly became acquainted with this small society that was turning back the clock on history. They began chatting about their recent experiences. When discussing the rear area, Li Wenjia didn't hold back too many secrets. After all, a stable and powerful rear area was their greatest reliance.

In exchange for sincerity, the tribesmen exchanged the information they had with Li Wenjia and his friends.

This tribe can be called "Rat Village" tentatively. Just as the name suggests, the output of the tribe is mostly rat body parts.

There are many tribes like this nearby, most of them relying on advantageous terrain, often tunnels, basements, and ground fortresses left over from the war. These air defense structures almost always contain more or less residual nuclear radiation. Clearly, they are more adapted to the post-nuclear era than ordinary people, and they have adapted to this high-risk radiation environment.

In fact, the Rat Village had only been established for less than a month, and when they first arrived here, they were almost like refugees. The environment here was not good, but in order to survive, they had no choice.

Changgu talked a lot, and when discussing the south exit, he gave an answer similar to what Li Wenjia had heard in the medical vehicle: "We lost two children and six giant rats that day. Those drones went crazy. The road to the west is the dividing line. They will attack any intruder. As long as they are spotted, no one will be spared. They are all dead."

"Besides this, have you encountered any other strange things?"

"Earthquakes. And flashes of light. They lasted for days, but they were all very far away. It had to be a nuclear war! I couldn't mistake that feeling. None of us could. So we all deceived ourselves, we called those things thunder, and said the west was the residence of the Thunder God. I... don't want to experience that again."

"By the way, how did you manage to block everything there? You don't have that much manpower here, do you?" Li Wenjia changed the subject. They had known for a long time that a nuclear war had broken out in the Shuchuan metropolitan area. This was already an unspoken fact.

About a month ago, the expedition team had communicated with the Countermeasures Bureau headquarters using the two remaining quantum communicators, and they had been informed of this news. However, the Countermeasures Bureau had not terminated the mission. They had already suffered enough casualties, and many of the survivors' spiritual support lay in completing the mission. Everyone was tactful and kept the matter to themselves. However, their morale did dip for a while.

Changgu didn't respond, but just stretched out his hand and pointed his palm at the kebab one meter away.

Li Wenjia felt an invisible force erupting from the middle-aged man in front of him, then extending forward along his arm, and finally passing through the air and reaching the campfire.

Several skewers of meat, covered in oil, floated in the air.

"Try it, is the sour taste gone?"

Li Wenjia picked up a skewer from the one suspended in front of him, put it into a sealed bag, and replied, "Oh, thank you. If our researcher allows it, I will try it."

"You guys are really... very different." Changgu stared at the warrior in front of him for a long time. The man never took off his helmet. "Are there really living people among you? Really..."

Changgu changed his lip shape silently. Li Wenjia knew the five words he said and nodded.

"It's so nice to meet you guys."

"It's great to meet you!" The same words were uttered by a tow truck driver at the other end of the tunnel.

After the expedition team learned that the Wild Wolf Team had completed its mission, they immediately organized manpower, moved the various supplies temporarily stored in the village onto trucks, and then transferred them to the tunnel in batches.

Based on the details Li Wenjia provided shortly afterwards, they designated the opposite lane next to Rat Village as the expedition's new base. The new base was near the south exit. When they followed the running giant rats to the advance team's rendezvous point, they were all stunned by the pile of boulders blocking the exit.

Of course, what is even more shocking is the superpowers of the people in Rat Village. That is the ability to photograph objects from a distance that many people dream of!

The villagers did not hide anything. They mentioned in their chat that it was the miracle brought by the fruit of the Noctilucent Grass. Anyone who ate some could achieve this level in a short period of time, and it was almost non-toxic and harmless.

The expedition team had established a long-term partnership with Rat Village using their water purification technology. In the first few days, they would help build this temporary settlement, primarily by moving rocks. They would remove the pile of rocks and then construct a stronger, more convenient steel gate.
