Chapter 9 Lies

"ah!"

Zhang Linhai screamed, his legs giving way. He scrambled out of the control room, and when he regained consciousness, he discovered his crotch was soaked with urine.

Zhang Linhai has been very troubled recently.

Why did he go to such great lengths to climb to the leadership position?

Isn't it just so that you can bully your subordinates?

But what is the situation now?

What kind of leader is he without his subordinates?

It's been a few days! Xiao Wang didn't even come over to show his respect!

Zhang Linhai was so used to carrying the weight that even though he knew something was wrong at the mine, he didn't want to go out and check it out. As usual, he opened the control room door, holding a thermos cup, and then the scene at the beginning happened.

Of course, there are no monsters or demons in this world. There is only a three-meter-high human sculpture in the control room.

The sculpture was supported by a metal frame with six heads, twelve arms, and twelve legs strung onto it. They were arranged into a cart-like shape, with the round heads acting as wheels and the twenty-four arms and legs forming the frame.

The smell of blood in the room was not strong. The sculpture seemed to have been processed, and the broken ends had been burned by high temperature.

Zhang Linhai didn't know who got this sculpture, but he recognized one of the heads.

Chen Baoding died, along with several strangers!

After a brief moment of unconsciousness, his habit was immediately broken by fear. After all, he was just a small figure, not a powerful figure.

He instinctively wanted to pull his men around him to block him, but he was alone now. He could only keep backing away, then tripped over the threshold, and then continued to back away with his hands supporting his body.

Zhang Linhai realized that he couldn't stay in this haunted place any longer. He would be the first manager in the mining area to be scared away.

No one can handle this, right? How can you be a leader? Run! Run!

He came here to work, not to die!

In that instant, countless thoughts raced through his mind. Which deranged killer was setting him up? Could it be Xiao Wang? He hadn't been seen in days. Could it be one of the other engineers he had a falling out with? They'd all been missing for almost a week.

So... could it be that they were all killed? And the next one would be... "me"?

The scariest thing in the world is scaring yourself, and Zhang Linhai scared himself to the point of peeing.

He got up from the ground in a very ungraceful manner, and then, without paying any attention to the details around him, rushed to his single dormitory as if he was being reborn.

He wanted to leave here, he couldn't stand it anymore.

By the time the word "escape" entered his mind, he had already packed everything he needed—a small suitcase. It was filled with valuables, the most valuable items he could find in the room. He hadn't even had time to change his clothes, even though they were quite damaged from the recent struggle.

He hadn't actually prepared much for "leaving here," and this impulse was just a spur-of-the-moment decision. As he set foot in the tunnel to leave, he began to regret it—there were still a lot of gold bars hidden in the control room!

Zhang Linhai didn't consider himself a miser. He only regretted not having enough money when he needed it. He was just thinking too far ahead. These treasures were worthless in the mine, but they would be of great use once he got out.

He gradually began to fantasize about his new life after he got out. He wanted to get rid of this annoying job and use the money to work hard. Maybe he could become the manager of a factory. He ignored the things he had just seen. People should look forward. It's boring to always stick to the past.

His pace gradually quickened, and the heavy suitcase did not slow him down.

"Next, I can..." He was immersed in the illusion he had woven for himself, and unknowingly, due to lack of preparation, he began to breathe heavily.

After turning left, there is a right turn, and after turning right, there is a left turn.

Zhang Linhai simply kept moving forward, trusting his memory. He had walked through this tunnel several times before, and knew its many forks and turns by heart.

He had a good memory, both for people and things, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to climb up step by step from the bottom. He still remembered the bad things that old bastard Chen Baoding had done. It was a great thing that he was dead, he really deserved it.

He had always remembered Chen Baoding's embezzlement of public funds! That incident almost got him into trouble. He couldn't do things so openly.

His mind was full of all the ways Chen Baoding had died, and he laughed out loud with evil amusement. His laughter, transmitted through the tunnel, gradually turned into various ghostly howls.

The tunnel lights flickered, but this unusual occurrence didn't stop Zhang Linhai. In fact, unstable voltage hadn't occurred in decades.

After turning, go straight, and then turn again at the end. . . . .

"What's going on? Where's the road?"

Zhang Linhai finally stopped, his way blocked by the collapsed tunnel.

It is not a good thing to rely too much on memory.

After a moment of shock, he finally regained his ability to think. But just as he turned back to think of a solution, the accident happened again.

The lights hanging on the top of the tunnel went out one by one. Standing at the end of the tunnel, Zhang Linhai felt that the darkness was swallowing up the tunnel bit by bit.

"Who is it? Hello~"
