The guy was tightly clamped by a huge mechanical clamp, his chest and leg joints were folded at a large angle. There were also multiple fractures in other places, but the most serious one was his spine.
At that moment, Li Wenjia couldn't see many details, but he was certain that the guy didn't have more than a few seconds to live. No equipment could defend against this level of pressure—his internal organs were crushed, and there was only so much he could do before losing consciousness.
"Bang~"
Before Li Wenjia could react, the soldier chose to self-destruct.
Some flames emerged from the gaps in the mechanical clamp, but it did not affect its movement at all. It threw all the debris in the clamp into the truck bed behind it, then opened its large clamp and pointed it directly at where Li Wenjia was.
In a flash, Li Wenjia kicked the truck bed with his leg, using the reaction force to create some distance between himself and the giant mechanical claw. He rolled several times on the rubble, barely avoiding the attack.
That claw is really big. When you look at it from a distance, you can't feel its size.
It has six metal fingers, each as long as Li Wenjia. Its claws are covered with sensors, so it knows clearly that it has not caught its prey.
Then, as the claw closed, it swung out in Li Wenjia's direction. The multi-ton claw was like a hammer, and the rocks in its path were powerless to stop it. They turned into meteors, brushing past Li Wenjia's body and slamming into the surrounding rubble.
With another leap, his shin struck the edge of the pliers hard. The impact was so powerful, the acceleration perpendicular to Li Wenjia's direction of movement, that he spun twice in mid-air before crashing to the ground.
Li Wenjia let out a muffled groan, but fortunately the exoskeleton blocked the impact, so his leg was not injured for the time being.
For a moment, he was staggering like a can hit by a bowling ball, with no time to breathe or think. He dodged and dodged across the rubble, mostly being chased by the mechanical arms.
He didn't know why the robot had gone mad, but with the limited weapons he had, he couldn't do anything to the giant before him. The industrial robot must have been equipped with electromagnetic protection devices, and the stun grenade he was carrying wouldn't be enough to paralyze it for even a second.
What should I do now? I don’t know where that guy Lu Xianwu threw the gun!
That submachine gun was actually better than nothing. It was originally designed to target lightly armored or unarmored targets, but when facing the thick protective casing of industrial machinery, this weapon was still not enough.
"Boom, bang, boom~"
The robot plowed almost a circle around, and the ruins were as fragile as sand castles built by children on the beach. Wherever its steel arms passed, there was smoke and dust everywhere.
Li Wenjia finally found a place to hide, taking advantage of the dust. Enduring the pungent smell of ammonia, he carefully stopped in the dark pipe, temporarily away from the battlefield.
This is a sewer, which should have been a sewage pipe for a residential area. A large amount of residual biomass inside is still fermenting. It is much warmer than the outside world and should be able to hide his body temperature.
"Ahem, eh!" He spat out the sand in his mouth and gasped for breath. He felt that he really shouldn't have become an enemy with those things. Although they were not weapons at all, to unarmed people, they were no different from tanks.
Feeling the vibrations above his head, Li Wenjia reached into his backpack to get a bottle of water to rinse his mouth. When his fingers touched his lower back, a strange sensation spread from his fingertips to his brain.
"Static electricity!" He put the finger in his mouth. "Why do I have static electricity?"
His gear was all anti-static. The fabric was covered in a metal mesh. When all the gear was put together, static electricity would flow down through the metal, conducting it to the steel plates on the soles of his feet. Finally, as he walked, the current was returned to the ground. In theory, he should have the same voltage as the ground.
Unless, there is something near him that continuously releases induced current.
"Oh shit!" After figuring this out, Li Wenjia finally understood everything.
He quickly took off his equipment and then walked away quickly along the other side of the sewer.
A moment later, he saw movement behind him—a ray of sunlight illuminated the area through the breach. The mechanical claw pushed aside the concrete, slightly widening the diameter of the sewer pipe, and then snatched up the equipment, along with the surrounding biological waste.
Li Wenjia walked barefoot in the cold organic mixture, crouching down as he walked for dozens of meters in the pipe. After making sure that the thing did not follow him, he climbed up from a hole.
The sun had already risen completely, and the sunlight shone on Li Wenjia, bringing a little warmth. He felt warm. He was only wearing shorts and a vest, and a leather waist bag was tucked into his waist, which contained his most important things.
It felt good to be alive, but Li Wenjia wasn't ready to give up on his mission. He searched the nearby rubble for a while, finally finding a wooden baseball bat and a pair of sneakers. He couldn't find any metal tools. If the shop weren't made of reinforced concrete, it probably wouldn't have survived.
He couldn't understand why the people here had such a special fondness for metal. There were clearly many non-metallic materials worth recycling in the ruins, but they just didn't want them.
