Jiang Ling questioned without hesitation: "Are you sure? I know this site has many pipes connected to the ground. If he wasn't secretly sent in, he might have sneaked in from the ground."
"Impossible! We checked using remote communication and he has never appeared at any site." Hu Yang confirmed.
Wang Dongyue said calmly, "Think carefully, what is in his memory?"
"It's very messy, as if it has been eaten by insects... Let me think, there seem to be several pictures... White cocoons, white light, caves, many people who look the same... That's it, the rest are blurry." Jiang Ling recalled carefully, and then felt nauseous.
"Are you okay?" Wang Dongyue asked worriedly when she saw Jiang Ling's face turn pale instantly.
"It's okay. I usually don't remember those things. Human memory is different from a computer. Every time I recall them, it feels like a dream." She explained, and after a moment's pause, she asked the two people, "Is it useful? And where are the mole and flying squirrel from yesterday?"
"It's useless, but it can be used as a reference." Wang Dongyue replied immediately, "As for the two of them, they are still receiving psychological treatment. To be honest, we are still a little scared of you. They keep reporting that you are controlling their minds. Haha~ We all know that mutants can't control their minds."
"Really? What about now?" Jiang Ling raised the corners of his mouth slightly.
Hu Yang's face turned pale. He tried to retreat, but his lower body was out of control. "Why am I here? Who are you?"
Wang Dongyue's expression froze. She suddenly realized she had made a huge mistake. She hesitated and said, "You... who are you?"
Jiang Ling was naturally a bit grumpy after being woken up, so she used her sensory abilities to tease them a bit. This Wang Dongyue must be a mutant hidden in the Countermeasures Bureau; her life force was noticeably different from those around her. Unfortunately, she didn't possess that ability, and Jiang Ling had no idea what superpowers she possessed.
Of course, although she couldn't become "Yuri X" or "Professor X", it was possible to modify short-term memory to slightly affect thinking ability. She deleted her information from their memory and then added a guy with an ordinary face.
Jiang Ling had always thought that doing this was a crime, but now she had no choice but to learn how to do it. Having a gun and not using it was different from not having one at all. She felt that she had to at least find a way to counterattack. The world was evolving too fast, but she was no longer the kind of person who had nothing. She couldn't just lie down.
"You fainted nearby, and I brought you back." Jiang Ling explained to the two people, then helped one of them up and pointed somewhere outside the window. "You fainted right there, and I thought you were sick! Turns out it's hypoglycemia!"
The two men quickly recovered and left with many thanks.
Jiang Ling lay back on the bed, thinking carefully about the information she had dug out from their minds: the full name of the cult was "The Holy Evolutionary Cult", and it was said that the senior members and believers in it were usually mutants; the provisional government defined this cult as a civil society, that is, a legal group, and it was not as bad as the Son of God said; and the Countermeasures Bureau even absorbed many people from it as operators, which means that the cult has actually made contributions to society.
If people were deemed evil simply for their personal failings, then there would be no good people in the world. Of course, perhaps some scoundrels were using the cult's name to commit illegal acts, or perhaps some mutants with uncontrollable powers were mistaken for cult members. Stubborn people will always resist any change, whether good or bad.
Jiang Ling thought that she was not a person who stuck to the old ways. Although she would not accept new things completely, she was still very curious, so she planned to do more research on the cult.
However, it is still early now, and I can't find any name for the investigation group for the time being. Maybe I can ask the Son of God after I set off. But if that's the case, I have to think carefully about what questions to ask.
Jiang Ling thought about it for a long time, so much so that she couldn't sleep for half the night. She finally decided to put the matter aside for the time being and do what she had to do first - selling crab sauce.
The transaction time on her order was noon, so she started preparing the necessary items early in the morning. She found two electronic scales at a flea market and, after some thought, bought a mask. Although the transaction was a legitimate one, she still planned to conceal her appearance. After all, this was a significant transaction. Online orders typically have orders of hundreds or even thousands of items, and an order this large by two orders of magnitude would be hard to avoid being noticed by someone with ulterior motives. One must be cautious.
She arrived at the warehouse she had booked two hours early, but there were already people waiting outside. Jiang Ling ignored their questions and only said, "It's not time yet!"
Most of these people waiting in advance weren't serious businessmen. Some of them might just be scouting the area, while others might be planning something nefarious. Of course, Jiang Ling wouldn't tolerate them. If they were the underworld, she wouldn't mind making them die.
Soon, more people arrived. Their clothing looked more like businessmen than the others. Jiang Ling opened the door just in time, but the crowd didn't rush in. That was perfectly normal; if they did, the AI managing the place would have immediately classified it as a burglary.
The transaction process wasn't anything to write home about. Jiang Ling had already thought of the plan, and being in a seller's market meant they couldn't afford to haggle. Although it was her first time doing something like this, her increased intelligence had helped her considerably; at least she wasn't easily led into a dead end by these experienced people.
