Chapter 93 Advanced Weapons (Part 1)

In October 2056, Jiang Ling completed the relevant training in space positioning. In December of the same year, the space combat skills also completed the last assessment in the simulator. Two months later, they came into contact with the self-defense weapons on the "Pangu" for the first time.

"Pangu" is the name of the spacecraft. It is said that the name was not determined until the second quarter of 1956. The trainees learned the name completely by chance. At that time, the outer surface decoration of the spacecraft had been completed.

Now in front of everyone are three different types of weapons, namely the pulse laser point defense system, the electromagnetic rail gun and the multi-purpose recoilless micro missile launcher.

According to the person in charge, the spacecraft will be equipped with six pulsed lasers, a railgun, and two missile launchers. The pulsed lasers have a power of approximately 30 megawatts, enough to penetrate most satellites or vaporize coin-sized micrometeorites in 0.1 seconds. The railgun has a caliber of 36 x 120 mm and uses a cylindrical warhead with a gold-coated tungsten core. The projectile weighs approximately 835 grams and has a muzzle energy exceeding 300,000 joules. Its purpose is clear: to push away large meteorites. The missile launcher is primarily used to launch anti-satellite chaff jammers and electromagnetic pulse bombs, a weapon that truly inflicts heavy damage on the enemy while also inflicting heavy damage on the self.

The technology to produce these weapons is priceless, and when you factor in the cost of launching them into space, the rare metals used to make them become the cheapest part.

Of course, due to the inherent danger, the objects placed there for them to touch were all highly realistic models. These models typically came with a panoramic display screen and their internal systems were powered by practical simulation software, but even this didn't dampen their enthusiasm for learning.

Indeed, no matter who you are, when you see these weapon models covered with a layer of milky white aerospace fabric, you will surely feel excited, right?

Jiang Ling walked a step too slowly, and due to the shoving of the crowd, she missed the machine she wanted to try the most. Fortunately, the simulator did not restrict their onlookers, and those who did not grab the large toys gathered around the monitors outside the model to watch the operator's recent training results.

The electromagnetic railgun has a high rate of automation. In intelligent mode, the operator basically does not need additional control. It will aim at meteorites that may intersect with the spacecraft's route and fire shells. However, considering the issue of ammunition capacity, this option will only be turned on when the crew is insufficient.

The simulator's display shows an initial ammunition load of 4,700 rounds, indicating they've reserved approximately four tons of ammunition for the spacecraft. This isn't a large number, considering they estimate the spacecraft's journey in the Earth-Mars transfer orbit will last six months. If these are spread out daily, they'll only use an average of less than 26 rounds per day, less than half the base number.

The number jumped very quickly, and after a while, the first operator who got started used up all his ammunition. His hit rate was very high, and it was obvious that he had a talent for shooting. He hit almost all the meteorites that appeared on the screen, and according to the calculations of the simulation software, his shooting results were indeed rated as excellent.

Everyone gave him a round of applause to encourage him, and then it was the next trainee in line.
