Out of 10 points for diving, Jiang Ling could only get one. She spun half a circle in mid-air and plunged sideways into the water. Her immense weight stirred up waves several meters high, even cracking the surrounding ice.
That friendship point was based on the fact that she hit the bull's eye.
Once underwater, the communication quality between the two people became better. Perhaps it was because the sea water blocked the interference. This was undoubtedly good news.
The water temperature was much higher than the ice surface. They slowly sank a few hundred meters, and the functions of the two equipment boxes began to recover. After several rounds of drainage, they stabilized their depth and began to surface.
Returning to where No. 509 should have been, they were struck by a massive icicle. Furthermore, more icicles were rapidly growing around them. Numerous mutant fish and shrimp were frozen within them, and to their meager mobility, these icicles were no different from orbiting lasers.
"Yuanyu 2, hold on tight! We have to get out of here!" Lao Xiao assessed the situation. "I estimate the submarine has already traveled some distance to the north. They're too big to stay and wait for us. System, activate the active sonar and thrusters. Yuanyu 3, forward two!"
The two men climbed on the side of the equipment box to balance the inertia on both sides, and they soon felt a push coming from behind.
Jiang Ling ignored the low-energy warning on her visor and turned on her active sonar, syncing it with Lao Xiao. She could only trust this guy's operating skills; after all, she had no training in this kind of diving dinghy.
The equipment box's thrusters had four gears. Jiang Ling had already seen the largest one, and the other three were all water jet thrusters with varying powers. Lao Xiao was currently using the second gear, which, according to the manual, was already a violation. Based on past experience, they shouldn't have used the equipment box's thrusters for this type of cave exploration.
The two of them rushed around underwater. The positions of some icicles were really tricky, and they had no way to avoid them. They could only rush forward. Fortunately, Jiang Ling's equipment box welded to the front was quite strong. The two of them were only hit by some broken ice, and the pressure-resistant shell blocked it well.
Following the inertial navigation system integrated into their exoskeletons, they made their way towards a relatively warmer area. Gradually, the icicles around them became fewer, replaced by schools of fish and shrimp, strangely shaped echinoderms, and some new-to-the-world blue-purple flocculent seaweed.
Jiang Ling has been trying to use her psychic powers to find the missing 509. At one point, when she passed by a group of special mutants, she felt that her power was enhanced, and a larger range of biological signals began to enter her mind.
