In the end, the group did not stay long beside this roadside primitive artifact from the pre-cosmic era. Compared with the modern primitive people whose customs were unknown and who might exist on the road ahead, the dusk and night in the wild were imminent dangers, and they were even more frightening.
Those piles of corpses must have been newly constructed; otherwise, given the current temperature and humidity, the nitrogen-rich organic matter would have been stinking. Furthermore, Jiang Ling wasn't so blind as to miss them even with the full field of view of the drone she launched last night. Later, she revisited the drone recovery process and discovered that the margin of error for the piles was only eight hours at most, meaning the two nearby bases were no longer safe.

As one of the only two old men here who had experienced "that", Gu Chen frowned slightly after listening to the conversation between the two. Going further, after passing a cracked intersection, the ruins of a building covered with mutated plants appeared before everyone's eyes.
This was originally Jiang Ling's planned stopover, but she now planned to walk straight through it from the main road. It should have been like other similar villages on this land, where the villagers could find something to brag about in the bar amidst their unchanging, ordinary lives. But now, those people had weathered to the point where even their bones were barely visible, and some had long since become nutrient for weeds.
It took everyone an hour to cross the small village. The two people walking in the middle didn't count how many human skulls they had crushed until the end. They were annoyed at first, but when they passed the square in the center of the village, the mountains of bones left them with nowhere to stand, and they could only follow Jiang Ling and walk on the bones with a creaking sound.
