The huge sound of metal knocking was transmitted along the pipe, and the speed of sound in metal is more than ten times faster than in air, so soon the whole tunnel became lively.
After advancing a short distance in the dark, they bypassed the translucent stone wall through the maintenance passage and turned back to the blocked tunnel.
The tunnel was still bright, the light from hundreds of meters away reflected and conducted, dispersing here. It looked like a square, with a few bonfire remains scattered throughout the tunnel.
"Old Li, did you do this on purpose?" The Wolf King approached the campfire, checked the barbecue on it, and asked in confusion.
These are all giant rat meat, which is probably only half roasted and still raw inside. After cutting it open, some blood flowed out.
"Don't touch those things!" Li Wenjia reminded everyone, "We are not robbers. Don't forget why we are here."
Everyone gathered together, and the two people walking at the end were forced by the black muzzles of guns to move away from the interrupted banquet.
The wolf king observed his surroundings in the dim light from the stone wall. "What should we do next? They've all disappeared."
"wait!"
Li Wenjia made a heavy nasal sound and explained, "I've already knocked on the door. If you were in my shoes, what would you do if you saw a stranger coming?"
“When friends come, there’s wine; when jackals come, there’s a hunting rifle.”
"That's not it! We're not fighting guerrilla warfare. Never mind, they'll be watching. I guess they're in some dark corner, spying on us!"
"Where is it? Why can't I see it?"
"There's no way you can see it! Everyone, pay attention and keep your guns!" Li Wenjia suddenly squatted down, then sat down. He relaxed on the ground and was about to doze off.
Of course he wasn't sleeping, he was just waiting. Every tribe would give intruders a little warning, some were indeed dangerous, but this one was just a docile sheep.
The wolf king walked up to Li Wenjia, nudged his back with his toes, squatted down, and then put his back against his back - through two layers of exoskeleton.
"Are you so confident? I've entrusted the lives of my brothers to you."
"Don't worry, we brought gifts, just take a look."
Humans are diurnal creatures, and under the bright bioluminescent light, the two men gradually relaxed. The remaining four soldiers slowly walked to the side of the tunnel and then sat on the pavement, forming a row.
They were still a little nervous, but obeying orders was a soldier's duty, and since the captain had spoken, they might as well just be a spectator.
Two guides stood at the other side of the tunnel, seemingly engaged in an internal dispute. The older one had somehow managed to rip the bindings apart. He now faced the group, his face frosted, causing the young man beside him to tremble.
"Why!" the man suddenly shouted loudly, but it seemed that he was not questioning everyone.
"Why~what~?"
"I've already compensated you for everything! Why won't you let me go?"
"I already..."
His voice reflected off the wall several times before returning to its original location.
He was afraid of something, but there was clearly nothing here. Seeing no response, the man's eyes lost focus, scanning his surroundings like a lizard for any abnormalities. His body began to twitch, and this sudden change frightened the young man beside him.
The young man was like a maggot, crawling away from the monster.
A monster, indeed. The businessman was a mutant, like all his kind.
Li Wenjia didn't make any move, he felt he had a sure win.
The Wolf King did not make any move. After all, the man behind him was closer to the mutant. If he did not move, why should he be in a hurry?
They watched helplessly as the man across from them rapidly transformed, soon no longer resembling a human. His head gradually stretched, his eye sockets spreading to either side of his skull. His already withered hair fell out, and bluish-gray scales emerged from beneath his skin, eventually covering his entire body.
Its arms gradually stretched, but compared to its torso, they seemed incredibly slender. They were also covered in scales, and long nails grew rapidly from its fingertips, revealing several strips of bright red flesh. With a swish, its clothes turned into two rags, revealing its sturdy torso.
Its lower body is much more stable, with a long and thick tail penetrating the crotch. Combined with two equally thick thighs, its body shape gradually evolves into a cone.
The transformation didn't take long. After a few minutes, a monster resembling a giant lizard appeared before everyone's eyes. The lizardman stood on two legs, opened its bloody mouth towards the other end of the tunnel, and then let out a sharp explosion.
This was an ultrasonic attack, and the sensors on everyone's visors easily captured the aftermath scattered in the air.
Of course, the Wolf Squad has seen too many mutants like this.
"Trash! Trash is trash wherever it is."
Li Wenjia scoffed quietly. He'd been full of hope, but it was a shame he was slapped in the face so quickly. A Level 3 mutant like this should really be removed from the list!
The people on the expedition gave nicknames to every mutant they encountered, and the Lizard Man was called "Invisible Shit." A person may not resemble his name, but his nickname must be a reflection of his characteristics.
So it means literally, this mutant is good at mimicry, but it is only good at mimicry. Its actual potential is about the same as a piece of dog shit, otherwise the Wolf Squad would not be able to capture it alive.
