The two soldiers were stunned to find that they could not move their arms at all, but they relaxed when they saw the girl in front of them winking at them.
"Good evening!" they whispered.
"Good evening!" Jiang Ling thanked them calmly, then quickly caught up with the people in front.
After passing through the gate, the surroundings gradually darkened. It seemed the old subway section undergoing a trial run hadn't yet been fully powered up. Along the passageway, they saw a number of workers debugging some machines. Those box-sized machines were very similar to the ones Jiang Ling had seen, except these were tracked.
The group turned two corners and arrived at a platform. Jiang Ling carefully climbed the stairs, and the view suddenly opened up. On the dim platform, neatly arranged were a number of board-style cabins. They had small light bulbs installed around them, gleaming faintly in the darkness. If one ignored the pitch-blackness of the tunnel beyond, the surroundings of these cabins were actually quite cozy.
The guide waved to the group, and they came to a registration area surrounded by tables. Two men were on duty there, and Jiang Ling saw them openly placing several weapons on the table, with bullets scattered around. She quickly realized that their way of dealing with fear was to clean their guns and count the bullets.
There was a sign next to the table: Metro Hotel, 10 points per room per night, 5 points key deposit, other payment options available.
"Okay, see? Only ten points per room! This is at least three times cheaper than the distribution center!" The guide exclaimed to several people, completely ignoring the silence around them.
Dong Xiexidu opened one, and Jiang Ling opened one alone.
