Chapter 62: The Quiet Earth-Moon Lagrange Point L2 (15)

"us?"

"Yes, to be precise - it's us who have nothing." After saying this, Khan patted the pipe cleaner in front of him on the shoulder and left the ventilation vent near the sewer.

Khan was currently an ordinary wandering knight, his only possession being the five-meter-tall exoskeleton—or, more accurately, a mecha—parked in the tavern courtyard. Like the current emperor, his ancestors were nobles of the community. According to his father, at the height of his family's glory, they had conquered a vast region. Had they not misjudged the situation, their family would have at least held a seat in the imperial court. It was a pity, however, that the good times were fleeting, and nothing could be undone.

But even so, at least their family still has a little capital left to fight for, instead of being like those ordinary people who have nothing but their lives.

He crouched down and walked through a pipe that spanned the street, fending off several claws that tried to steal his belongings, avoiding the underground group that looked difficult to deal with, and walked towards the central avenue of Sunset City.

News traveled more slowly in the civilian areas than expected. By the time Khan left the alley, the central thoroughfare had already been cleared and placed under martial law. The street vendors who normally occupied the street were uniformly driven to the side of the road by the guards, mingling with the wealthy who wanted to catch a glimpse of the VIPs, sparking a controlled chaos. The roads were swept repeatedly by professional cleaners, even scraping away the grime that had accumulated over the years. They were then sprinkled with expensive spices and flower petals to freshen the air. The buildings along the street had long been ordered by the governor to turn off their lights, so the stark contrast between the darkness and the streetlights made the road even more conspicuous. Petty thieves were nowhere to be found under the muzzle of a gun, and anyone attempting to take advantage of the opportunity would be meted out with the utmost punishment by law enforcement. By this point, no one wanted to cause trouble.

Khan chose a higher ground and hid his body behind a shop sign, revealing only a pair of blue-violet eyes. His eyesight had been extraordinary since he was a child, so even though this place was far away from the real roadside, he could still see everything happening on the road.

The ceremony has begun.

Leading the way was an electric-powered, armed, and riot-proof police car, likely the most advanced equipment available from the Imperial Security Agency. It moved slowly and silently, but the flashing red and blue police lights on top still managed to silence those who saw it. Following closely behind were two teams of heavily armed security personnel, each equipped with specialized exoskeletons. Their black paintwork gave them a mysterious and powerful presence. Their movements were so coordinated that they resembled a troop of soldiers from a holographic film.

By the time these people had finished their journey, the convoy belonging to the bigwigs had just turned from the secret route onto the central avenue. The crowds on the roadside quickly cheered—even if they were silent, there would be bastards bribed by money and violence to act as their shills.

Khan saw the windows of the luxurious car carrying the protagonist were tightly closed, completely unlike the princess who had been so keen on showing off last time. Of course, this was certainly illogical. In fact, no matter the purpose of the person, they should have been prominent in front of the people to demonstrate the leadership of the imperial leadership, or their own personal temperament and charm, rather than this aloof and aloof appearance.

unless......

Unless that strange dream is true.
