Unlike in movies, TV shows and other novels, these monsters did not attack the crowd at the first moment. Apart from annoyingly waving the drones buzzing overhead and the strong light shining on their faces, they started killing each other.
"Although I didn't see the famous zombie-eating scene, the sight of tough guys fighting each other was pretty cool." Looking down from the balcony at the chaos below, the three of us thought a similar thing. Unrestricted fighting was indeed exciting, especially since we were watching it up close in the community.
Amidst the chaos, the evacuees heard a sudden "bang." One of the monsters, with its casserole-sized fist, struck the other in the jaw, instantly dislodging several of the creature's fangs. The broken teeth, each about the length and thickness of two fingers, flew far away, two of which struck an unfortunate car, scratching the smooth paint.
It was a four-to-two qualifying match, and these giants had established two battlegrounds. One was in the flower garden below Jiang Youwei's building, while the other was being chased and repelled by two creatures of varying sizes, one chasing the other across the neighborhood. When it briefly came into her field of vision, she saw the smaller one desperately chasing the larger one. "Oh, so it started by popping someone's eyeball. No wonder it was able to chase it."
Compared to the fair duel between the two downstairs, the two chasing and fleeing were the ones causing greater harm to the crowd. The frantic fleeing creature naturally lost sight of the road; it rushed recklessly, mindlessly grabbing and throwing whatever "debris" lay around it. Instantly, many residents who hadn't had time to evacuate were forced into the fray. Consequently, shattered human remains were scattered along their path.
"Although these things are irrational, they seem to be quite smart and use tools!" Jiang Youwei saw a guy downstairs suddenly grab the broken lamppost beside him while fighting. Her pupils shrank, and she saw that guy held the three-meter-long steel pipe horizontally in front of him to block the impact of another one, and then changed the horizontal movement to a chopping movement, and was about to smash it straight on the smooth gray head.
"Boom! Sound good? Sound good, that's a good sign!" Jiang Youwei, dozens of meters away, silently dubbed them on the rooftop, earning a few rolls of the eye from the two people next to him. Jiang Wenwu, peeking from a small stool on the windowsill, counted on his fingers: "Looks like they should start intervening." Even if wild animals were fighting in the street, as protectors of the people, they would have to intervene, or at least give each other a numbing pill.
But what they were rewarded with was a bullet? Perhaps a cannonball, or at least not just any bullet. Because of the distance, Jiang Youwei didn't see who fired the shot. She only heard a "bang" as the bullet struck the head of someone downstairs. "It was a pretty accurate shot, but..." she watched as the bullet lodged in the large man's skull.
The immense momentum caused it to stumble, giving the other fallen creature an opportunity to seize the opportunity. It lifted a large rock—roughly half the size of a car—and brought it close to the monster whose head had blocked the bullet. With one blow, it knocked it to the ground. The victor didn't stand and stake its claim like a chimpanzee. Instead, it continued its attack, swinging its fists and striking the gray-headed creature fiercely. With his vision obstructed, Jiang Youwei could only hear the dull "bang, bang, bang" sound echoing through the neighborhood.
The pounding continued for nearly ten minutes. Anyone in the opposite unit would have seen the guy trapped beneath the rock, his head shattered into a two-dimensional form before the killer finally stopped. Then there was the sound of rocks being removed, and teeth chewing raw flesh and bones. Cannibalism—the most brutal form of beast!
The battle continued around the community. The fleeing creature suddenly slammed into a building, instantly filling the entire neighborhood with dust and screams of terror. The pursuer stopped outside the building and roared into the dark cave entrance. All it could hear now was the cacophony of crying and screaming coming from within.
"Pah!" Another sound came, but this time it missed. The small monster's reflexes were incredible, and it didn't seem to dodge just because it heard the sound. Seeing that it would be hit by the "stone" even if it stayed outside, it quickly ran into the hole it had just created. Then there was another round of screams and a loud, dull scuffle.
"It seems the winner has been decided." Jiang Youwei upstairs heard the noise in the residential building gradually weakening, and the two people next to him also saw that the dust began to decrease.
A twisted body was thrown from a third-floor window, piercing the entire wall where the window had been. Then, a larger figure leaped from the upper floor, creating a radiating crack in the ground. "Looks like the big guy won in the end, huh? Its eyes have actually healed! A terrifying healing ability!" Jiang Youwei saw the creature's golden eyes fixed on the corpse before him.
"In the end, it still ran over to chew it!" She was speechless. Just like the cat she had raised, even if the dead mouse was thrown out, it would run over to pick it up.
The gunfire did not ring out again. On one side, the firing range was blocked by large rocks, and on the other side, it was shrouded in smoke and dust. A few brave people had already quietly approached the wounded who were still begging for help, trying to give them a brief treatment and then take them away from this dangerous "battlefield".
The monsters seemed to be immersed in the pleasure of eating. Apart from the gray-white intestines and dark green blood being torn all over the ground, they did not make any other abnormal movements.
"It's halftime now, and I don't know if the championship and runner-up finals will start soon."
As if sensing a temporary stabilization, a "Gundam" with several robotic dogs came running from the intersection. He seemed to be carrying a large amount of first aid supplies, and the robotic dogs, carrying them, quickly and quietly approached the wounded. Their mechanical eyes scanned the wounded, then abandoned the seemingly unfortunate individual in front of them and headed straight for the bleeding victims. "Wow, the prototype of a first aid robot is here!" Jiang Youwei saw a robotic arm extend from the backs of the robotic dogs, and then quickly stopped the bleeding of the wounded. It was a little painful, and several of the wounds had obvious cauterization to stop the bleeding.
At the same time, the "Gundam" cautiously approached and observed for a while, then quickly moved away, carrying two wounded who needed to be evacuated all the way back to the armored vehicle parked on the main road.
