Chapter 89: The Quiet Earth-Moon Lagrange Point L2 (Part 42)

11B held his finger on the trigger for a few seconds, but ultimately engaged the safety. After weighing the pros and cons, he chose not to shoot. If he had lost his temper and fired, their positions would have been exposed. With the current disparity in firepower, they would have been at a disadvantage regardless.

Those thugs were obviously unsure of their location. Although they caused heavy casualties, they were basically acting indiscriminately. From the perspective of preserving themselves, forbearance was the more rational choice.

"Wait a minute!" 11B patted Gary's shoulder.

"You know, they are killing people in my jurisdiction!" Gary retracted his neck, seeming dissatisfied with his inaction.

"Perhaps you're a dedicated officer. But since the sheriff here has handed you over to me, I can't let you take this risk again." 11B began to persuade him. "Strictly speaking, you don't have to bear these responsibilities right now. You just need to be of use to me, and your colleagues will handle the rest."

"Okay..." In his opinion, Officer Li in front of him seemed to have made a difficult decision.

However, in reality, Gary was too lazy to engage in a firefight with those people. His long career as a mercenary made him clearly understand that the flesh and blood body was too fragile, and saving his own life was the most important thing - when necessary, teammates could be decisively abandoned.

"Be careful!" He shouted to 11B, then rolled quickly toward the left rear of the carrier, completing the tactical transfer in just an instant.

Gary thought the thugs were incredibly weak. He wondered how the Security Bureau guy judged their abilities. He'd assumed that personnel assigned to large organizations would receive professional training, but he hadn't expected them to be this low. Honestly, it was a good thing this was the heart of the Martian Federation. If he were transported to space, competing against those notorious mercenary bosses, he'd be dead long ago!

Sure enough, just as 11B was about to move with him, a metal storm swept over, turning all the obstructions along the way into sieves.

"Don't just stand there! Take cover quickly. If that car doesn't work, get another one!"

11B lowered its body, half-crouched and jogged in the fan-shaped shadow provided by the transport vehicle. Its posture and movement patterns were full of textbook dullness and ugliness.

Gary sighed repeatedly.

Finally, he stopped behind a silver-gray civilian pickup truck and called out to Gary, "Where can I get off this road?"

"Where are you going?" Gary asked back in an equally loud voice.

"I want to go to the other side of the canyon, Area 114! Tell me which is the shortest way!"

Gary thought that these people were obviously looking for trouble with him. The exit of Area 115 must have been closely watched by them. If he ran over there in a panic at this time, wouldn't that be like throwing a meat bun at a dog?

So he pointed his finger at the ground and replied: "The road under your feet is the shortest!"

"Nonsense! I mean, where are we going?" 11B knocked his head.

"Keep going straight! The toll booth for crossing the bridge is at the end!" Gary pointed his finger at the place with the highest density of firepower.

"Forget it, let's get out of here first!"

"Okay, General, let's take this path." Since this was not a stupid goal, Gary immediately offered a plan.

Afterwards, with his diligent assistance, the two of them used only a few tactical moves to get away from the thugs' visual range. Then, using the remotely activated police car sirens, they crossed the unobstructed oncoming lane and slipped into a dark alley.
