"Hurry, hurry, hurry!" Li Gang ran with the tactical terminal tucked under his arm. He pulled Jiang Ling over and said, "Move quickly! Their attack is coming!"
As soon as the words fell, countless steel needles and iron rain brushed past their backs, and the observation and aiming equipment mounted at the highest point was riddled with holes in an instant.
Jiang Ling was knocked to the ground by Li Gang on the snow, and the soft snow was pressed into a human-shaped depression by the two of them.

Along with the two mutants, a number of controlled soldiers fell to the ground. It was clear that the mutants couldn't control more soldiers at once. After figuring out what was happening, the remaining group retreated into the hollow, a move they had planned.
Those soldiers who fell to the ground were not dead, but in Jiang Ling's perception, the light spots representing them were becoming weaker.

"These bastards! How could they be so cunning!" Li Gang cursed. "They refused to come out after being beaten. We spent a lot of time thinking up a plan, but in the end we ran into a bunch of cowards."
"Be careful, I think they will break out at night. You'd better use infrared to check." Zhou Xiangyang said in a deep voice.
"I've seen it, there's nothing!" Li Gang looked at the screen again. The scene in the distance was exactly the same as it was twenty minutes ago, except for the cold snow that was displayed in dark purple.
"Are you sure?" Jiang Ling asked. She had already sensed two guys sliding down the snow slope on the west side of the depression.
"What? Where's the birdman?" Li Gang hurriedly used the tactical terminal to control the robotic arm, but there were no abnormal heat signals around. He switched from infrared mode to optical mode—the distance was completely dark, and almost nothing could be seen.
"Visual lock!"
Li Gang came up with a final solution, a last resort. If all the instruments failed, he would have to rely on his naked eyes to find the enemy.
"Don't move, they haven't discovered us yet." Jiang Ling said in a low voice. The two mutants should be heading towards their previous location.
She sensed the two points of light about a hundred meters apart, moving slowly with a leapfrog tactic. They had clearly learned something from the hostages' memories; the two of them were working together well. She had heard of mutants' learning abilities before, but only now did she understand the despair humans felt when facing them on the battlefield.
Li Gang froze at that, not daring to move. His heart raced in his throat. The most terrifying enemy in the world was the invisible one. He didn't want to die in the darkness, unknowingly, under a blade.
"They are heading towards your telescope. How fast can you shoot?" Jiang Ling quietly asked Li Gang.
"What do you want to do?" Li Gang asked back in the same low voice.
