The overload lasted for less than a minute. After the damaged booster ran out of fuel, the other three boosters also shut down their engines simultaneously. The used booster was not discarded immediately, as Jiang Ling still needed it to exert its last bit of heat at perigee.
As the vibrations of the spacecraft caused by the overload subsided, the alarms in each cabin were also lifted, and the four people in the spacecraft could finally have a brief conversation in the passenger cabin. Jiang Ling found the passenger list in the command cabin, so she did not arrive there first.
When she walked through the half-open hatch, two survivors of the Crescent were already talking inside.
"It's okay, everything's okay!" one of the men, a relatively small man, said to his companion. He was wearing a blue one-piece captain's suit that smelled of cologne. He had a handsome face, a slight goatee, and black hair and eyes. It was obvious that the "Interstellar Passenger Transportation Group" had a high standard for its employees.
The other was a woman with her hair wrapped in a hat. She was wearing a very elegant flight attendant uniform, but she seemed to have lost her shoes in the earlier panic, so she was now only barefoot. Her face was a standard oval face, which was very consistent with the public's aesthetic standards for women. Her eyes were also black. Clearly, the business group that hired them had its own selection criteria.
"Where did the rest of the people go? I saw that there were 120 passengers on your flight." Jiang Ling did not argue with the captain, but held up the form and started the inquiry mode. She needed all kinds of evidence now, so the viewfinder of the exoskeleton was always in recording mode.
"Who are you?" The captain turned to look at Jiang Ling and found that the exoskeleton paint on her body did not comply with the group's regulations.
"That's not important." Jiang Ling put the list aside and flipped up the face shield on her helmet, revealing her green pupils. She continued, "Your group is suspected of concealing the level of accident risk. I need your cooperation in the investigation." She paused and used her hands to secure herself to a passenger seat. "Listen to me, if you still want to get work injury insurance and compensation, then do as I say. No tricks."
The passenger list suddenly seemed to come to life, like a bird flapping its pages, flying towards the captain and landing steadily in front of him.
"Uh, okay. I understand." The captain was impressed by the strength displayed by Jiang Ling. He then comforted the flight attendant beside him and nodded vigorously, but then remained silent.
"Hmm? So..."
"I'm sorry, but I have no comment." The captain still maintained his professional ethics.
The flight attendant stepped back behind the captain, and their movements were extremely intimate, like a couple in love.
Jiang Ling waited for a moment, then continued, "How much equity do you hold in the group that is worth it for you to defend your own business organization so much?"
"Don't try to trick us like that." The captain shook his head. "A group isn't a company or enterprise like on Earth. It's not the private property of one person; it belongs to us all. I can't go against the collective interests on an issue like this that doesn't affect them."
"Of course, I know." Jiang Ling nodded. "To be honest with you, when I repaired your spaceship, your remaining fuel was not enough to maintain orbit, so I made a decision for you without authorization. No matter what, you have no choice but to accept it now."
Upon hearing this, the captain immediately leaned on the handrail and floated towards the control terminal near the hatch. He quickly clicked a few times, and then roared like a dragon: "Look, look at what you did!"
