Chapter 107 Interlude (Letter to Fellow Earthlings)

A Letter to Our Fellow Earthlings

Letter from the Standing Committee of the Human Community to Our Fellow Human Beings

January 1, 2071 (November 25, 19th year of the lunar calendar)

Dear fellow Earthlings,

Today is New Year's Day, 2071, and also the 19th anniversary of our planetary calendar's sudden change. On behalf of the people of all regions of the human community, we extend warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to all our fellow citizens.

As the ancients said, "Every festive season brings a yearning for family." As we celebrate the New Year, we miss our loved ones even more—our families across the globe. We know you, too, deeply miss our homelands, once shattered by war, and our loved ones abroad. This longing, which has endured for so many years, grows stronger with each passing day. Since the end of the war in 2056, we have lost contact and communication, our homeland has been shattered, and our loved ones have been unable to reunite. Families, nations, peoples, and humanity have all suffered tremendous losses. All of us, our fellow citizens and all of humanity on Earth, hope for a swift end to this heartbreaking situation.

We humans are a magnificent race, accounting for nearly one-tenth of the world's biomass. We possess tens of thousands of years of history and a remarkable culture, and have transformed the environment of several major worlds to the point of influencing climate. Earth has been an integral part of human civilization since ancient times. Human civilization possesses powerful vitality and cohesion. Despite numerous internal conflicts throughout history, our species has never been completely exterminated. The nearly ten thousand years of separation of the rest of Earth from human civilization is man-made and contrary to the interests and aspirations of our species. This cannot continue. Every human being, whether living on any continent or on Mars or other orbiting abodes, bears an unshirkable responsibility for the survival, development, and prosperity of the human race. The crucial task of unifying human civilization, a task that bears upon the future of our entire species, lies before us all. No one can and should shy away from it. If we fail to swiftly end this division and achieve human unity, how can we comfort our ancestors and our descendants? We all share the same heart and mind. As descendants of Yan and Huang, descendants of Adam and Eve, and remnants of God, who would want to become the eternal sinner of their race?

Over the past two decades, humanity's position in the world has undergone fundamental changes. The status of our human community has grown ever higher, and its role in coordinating colonies across planets has become increasingly important. The people and governments of the various regions under our rule place great expectations on us to oppose slavery, feudalism, hegemony, and imperialism, and to safeguard world peace and stability. Every human being takes pride in the growing strength of our community. If we can quickly end our divisions and unite our forces, our contributions to humanity's future will be limitless. The early realization of human unification is not only the shared aspiration of all the peoples of our community, including all human races on Earth, but also the shared hope of all peace-loving (possible) civilizations throughout the universe.

Today, achieving human unification is the universal aspiration and the trend of the times. The world universally recognizes that there is only one human civilization, and that the human community is the sole legitimate interplanetary entity of human civilization. The signing of the Treaty for the Peaceful and Friendly Joint Development of the Asteroid Belt and the establishment of the Mercury-Titan Material Exchange Corridor further demonstrate that this trend is unstoppable and cannot be stopped by anyone. Human civilization is stable and united, and the situation is better than ever. The people of the community in orbit around the sun are working together to achieve the great goals of the eight communistizations. We earnestly hope that the remaining parts of the Earth will soon return to human civilization for joint development and construction. Our community leaders have expressed their determination to take into account the current situation and complete the great cause of human unification. In resolving the issue of unification, they will respect the current status of each part of the Earth and the opinions of people from all walks of life, adopt reasonable policies and measures, and avoid causing harm to the people of these parts of the Earth. People from all walks of life have also expressed their nostalgia for their homeland, expressed their desire for "return to identity," and put forward various suggestions, earnestly hoping for an early return to the embrace of human civilization. Today, all conditions are favorable for unification. Everything is ready. No one should go against the will of the race or go against the trend of history.

We place our hopes on the 520 million people of the Earth's other regions, excluding the original Z country, and on the authorities of the Earth's other regions, excluding the original Z country. The authorities of the Earth's other regions, excluding the original Z country, have consistently upheld the principle of one human civilization and opposed the independence of civilizations. This is our shared position and the foundation of our cooperation. We have always advocated patriotism and love for family. The unification of humanity is everyone's responsibility. We hope that the authorities of the Earth's other regions, excluding the original Z country, will prioritize national interests and make valuable contributions to the cause of achieving the unification of human civilization.

The Human Community Government has ordered the People's Space Army to cease bombardment of Antarctica and other continents effective today. Military standoffs still exist between the two sides in small and medium-sized human settlements, which only creates artificial tension. We believe that this military standoff should first be resolved through negotiations between the Human Community Government and the authorities of other regions of Earth, excluding the original Z country, in order to create the necessary conditions and a safe environment for any type of interaction between the two sides.

Due to long-term isolation, Earth's regions other than the original Z country and our fellow human communities remain unaware of each other, causing various inconveniences for both sides. Many human races living on distant outer planets are able to return home for sightseeing and family reunions. Why can't Earth's regions other than the original Z country and our fellow human communities, so close to us, travel freely? We believe this barrier has no reason to continue. We hope to quickly establish air and postal links between the two sides, facilitating direct contact, communication, visits to relatives and friends, tourism, and the exchange of academic, cultural, sports, and technological knowledge.

The continents of the Earth were once a united economy. Unfortunately, these economic connections have been disrupted over the years. The development of a global community of shared future for mankind is flourishing, and we also hope for the continued prosperity of the global economy. We should absolutely develop trade, exchange resources, and engage in economic exchanges. This is a mutual need that benefits all parties, not harms them.

Dear fellow Earthlings,

The bright future of our great human civilization belongs to us as well as to you. Unifying human civilization is the sacred mission entrusted to our generation by history. Times are advancing, and circumstances are evolving. The sooner we accomplish this mission, the sooner we can jointly create an unprecedentedly glorious history for our civilization, and join forces with (possibly) advanced civilizations in the universe, working together for peace, prosperity, and progress in the universe. Let us join hands and strive for this glorious goal!

(Note 2: No one should say I am being pedantic, but I have dug a lot of holes here!)
