Chapter 348 Mira's Invitation
The woman stood there quietly, as thin as a dead grass, her burqa barely holding up to her body. She looked at the little girl in front of her expressionlessly, a hint of curiosity suddenly showing in her eyes.
"Who are you?"
Gwen was looking up at the moment. She was too short, and Mira stood in front of her, blocking the sunlight.
Her long white hair slipped out from the hood, her eyes flashed, and she glanced around inconspicuously.
The people who were originally walking around had dispersed at some point, and only she and Mira were standing in the alley. The noisy downtown area was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop.
"Gwen, be careful, she can actually spot you." The translucent unicorn next to her came over and whispered to Gwen.
〖Yes, this is the first person who can discover you〗
"It's okay, Gwen. We'll all help you!"
〖Don't be afraid, we are all here. If you encounter any trouble, we are here to help you!〗
Gwen took a deep breath, and the fear and panic in her heart gradually dissipated.
As long as you have friends around you, there is nothing to be afraid of.
She subconsciously looked at the little Gwen in armor—that was herself when she grew up.
The girl Gwen looked at her steadily, then turned her head and nodded at Milan.
Gwen nodded mentally before shifting her gaze to Mira.
She will protect her friends.
"My name is Gwen."
Mira looked at her carefully, then slowly squatted down, looked at Gwen, and stretched out her dry fingers to gently brush her pure white hair.
"What beautiful long hair. Are you from the White Crow Principality?"
Gwen nodded, thought about it, and shook her head.
"I don't know either. After my parents died, I wandered here from the north. I don't know what White Crow Principality is, but many people say that I'm from there."
Mira opened her eyes wide in surprise, but after a while she started to giggle. She rubbed Gwen's head and said, "I thought you were from the Temple of Silence, but you turned out to be a kitten."
Her fingers were not very soft and it hurt Gwen a little. Gwen frowned subconsciously.
Mira's hand shrank back, she stood up and brushed the dust off her robe.
"Gwen, what are you doing here? Are you hungry?"
"Of course not! Do you think children only know how to be hungry?"
"Oh, what is that?"
While the two were talking, Gwen glanced to the side when Mira wasn't paying attention.
A translucent little squirrel slowly moved towards that side. It was also one of Gwen's friends.
But after taking a few steps, it froze in place.
Mira looked towards it.
Gwen's body trembled, and this time her friends all kept their mouths shut. Those who wanted to speak had their mouths covered by the animals next to them.
Mira can see her friends, see these phantoms that only Gwen can see! If it were somewhere else, Gwen would be very happy, because her imaginary friends would have someone to talk to, and they might become friends.
But this is the slums of Blood Harbor, and the woman in front of him is the high priestess of the Mother Goddess Church, a monster that feeds on the souls of believers.
Gwen's heart sank.
But Mira seemed unaware. She chatted with Gwen for a long time and then took her into the next room.
The believers here were also cooking porridge. Mira served herself a bowl and turned to look at Gwen.
".I don't need it. I just finished my porridge."
Mira did not insist. She found a step on the street and sat down, holding the bowl of porridge with a pious look on her face.
Gwen glanced into the bowl. The porridge was a little loose, not as thick as Josh's, but it still smelled of food.
Mira put her dry lips to the bowl and drank the porridge in small sips.
She didn't say anything, but drank the porridge quietly, then raised the bowl to let the last bit of soup flow into her mouth.
Only then did she reveal a satisfied smile.
"As for me, I like to drink porridge the most."
“I actually like eating, but most of the time I can only drink porridge.”
"When I was little, I always thought, if there was a place where I could always have porridge, I would go there and never leave, even if I died."
"It's good now. We have porridge to drink and everyone can survive."
Gwen blinked, looked at the rice porridge sticking to the corner of her mouth, and then looked back at the rice porridge in the pot.
For some reason, she suddenly wanted to drink a bowl of porridge, even though she had just had it from Qiao Xi. After all, porridge doesn't satisfy your hunger.
"Do you want some porridge?"
Gwen quickly shook her head and looked at Mira warily.
Mira chuckled, patted Gwen on the back, and pointed to the alley.
"Go back, little kitty. I'll treat you to porridge next time."
Gradually, more and more people came onto the street. As the sun set, many people, who had worked hard all day, got off work and prepared to go home.
Gwen opened her eyes wide, looked at the alley, then looked at Mira, then jumped down the steps and trotted away.
Before leaving, she looked back and saw Mira waving at her, the setting sun casting a golden edge on her body.
“What a strange person.”
Gwen muttered quietly.
"If Gwen finds it strange, it must be very strange."
〖What nonsense are you talking about? It makes Gwen seem weird!〗
〖She is weird in the first place〗
〖Humph, then Mira must be scared. Gwen is super powerful. She will let you go only if she can't beat you!〗
〖No, I think the porridge was poisoned.〗
Gwen turned her gaze away from her noisy friends and asked the unicorn hesitantly, "What do you think of her?"
〖A very dangerous person. She can spot you and even see our presence. Maybe she is very good at this and may restrain your ability. It is best to keep a distance from her.〗
Gwen frowned and thought about it, then nodded solemnly.
Then she looked at the girl in armor, "What do you think of her, little Gwen?"
"Like mother."
Gwen froze.
She subconsciously wanted to refute, but the words were stuck in her throat. The expression on her face kept changing, from anger to questioning, from determination to hesitation, and finally to confusion.
She can no longer remember what her mother looks like.
"Little sister, why are you standing here? Can't you find your parents?" A voice suddenly sounded beside her, and Gwen turned around.
He was a man wearing a hood, with evasive eyes, and through the gaps in his sleeves one could see a strange and twisted tattoo.
“My parents are gone.”
"Really? Come to uncle, I can help you find them back."
Several hooded figures came over and surrounded her inconspicuously.
Gwen nodded expressionlessly and followed them deeper into the alley.
