Chapter 477: No War in the North
Zeus held his forehead and looked at Isaac in front of him with a complicated expression.
"Go on, what happened next?"
Isaac looked embarrassed: "Later, Chief Chloe told me about the current situation, and I came back."
The diary on the table suddenly jumped up more than three feet high: "How can it be so simple! How can it be so simple! I have told you many times but you still don't believe me and insist that I have been contaminated!"
〖Then he started to suspect that this was some conspiracy of some ancient god and wouldn't listen to anything I said!〗
〖In the end, he had another fight with Monica before being sent back!〗
"Wait!" Hughes raised his eyebrows. "You've never hit Monica?"
Monica's ideas are indeed very destructive, but her own fighting ability is so low. Ash can beat both of them with one hand.
Isaac's face immediately turned red, and he seemed to want to explain himself, but he stammered and couldn't speak.
Really never fought?
Aren't you a dual-path transcendent? Logically speaking, there shouldn't be many people you can't beat in actual combat, right? The look in Hughes' eyes when he looked at Isaac changed.
"Monica was a little anxious because she was afraid of failing the exam, so she came here with a dragon breath cannon and a machine gun." The banshee standing aside raised her hand and shook Monica in her hand.
“Ahhhh stop shaking, I know I was wrong ahhhh—”
Even though Monica seems unreliable all the time, she is a member of the Banshee Patrol. Guarding Iksar this time is also a mission, and she is indeed equipped with weapons.
Iksar was clearly in an unstable state and had aggressive tendencies, but whether the warning shots were legal or whether it was excessive use of force was a question of law. "Let the Inquisition handle it," Hughes waved his hand. "Since she has joined the Banshee Patrol and has the right to bear arms, she should also be subject to legal restrictions."
He really liked this petite witch, but rules are rules. If only some people follow the rules, it would be exploitation of the others.
Justice is the cornerstone of the law.
Hughes' eyes turned and he brought Isaac in again.
"Same to you, Isaac, you may have to pay some fees"
"It's my duty." Isaac nodded without saying anything more.
"Okay, let's leave it at that for now Isaac. Now let's talk about the situation in the North. What happened to the resistance?"
Everyone in the room perked up, even Monica fell silent.
There was a stack of papers under Xius's hand. That was the information that Finnel had given him. All of Nini and the others' judgments about the North were on it.
Nini and the others were very pessimistic in their assessment - to be more precise, they felt that the resistance army was completely finished.
Isaac's arrival brought a glimmer of hope to everyone.
"It's a long story. We were doing very well in the North." Isaac thought for a moment and spoke slowly.
He started by talking about how he came into contact with the resistance alone, forged white fog, severely damaged the Winter Wolf Cavalry, made a feint to the east and attacked in the west, robbed food, and then captured Grizzly Town. Everyone's eyes lit up after hearing about the series of strategies and battles, and they wished they could join the resistance on the spot and have a fierce fight with Basel's men.
"Unfortunately, we made a wrong decision in the end." Isaac sighed, "We chose to attack Sleddingburg. That must be Bazel's conspiracy."
"I was in the first wave to enter the city. The moment I used my detection ability, I was discovered by Lina and captured not long after. She was too strong. I couldn't even run away."
"The moment I used my ability, I saw the scene inside the castle. Bazel was at the main gate with a group of elite soldiers. The resistance army couldn't get through."
"Is there absolutely no hope?"
Isaac shook his head. "Not at all. There are only a dozen resistance soldiers rushing over, and the other side is heavily armored soldiers holding tower shields. It will be no problem for them to defend the city gate. I can't think of the possibility of winning at all."
"Plus Lina is waiting for you. This is a trap and we've already stepped into it."
Xiu Si was silent for a while, then he said, "It was Nini who saved you. She found the resistance camp, which was already full of Bazel's soldiers. If Gwen and the others abandoned the city and fled, would they survive?"
Isaac's eyes dimmed and he slowly shook his head.
"The North is mostly plains, and the resistance army won't be able to find a castle that's so easy to capture. If they're lucky, they can find another forest to set up camp. Then they might be able to hold out for a while longer, allowing the banshees to explore the surrounding area."
"I see. Next, I'll let the banshee look for traces in the forest." Xius stuffed the information on the table into the wastebasket and sighed: "Tell me more about Lina. How can she be so strong?"
"It was too dangerous, Lina. We almost all died."
Bazel was breathing heavily, his face no longer calm, and his carefully groomed curly hair was singed by the dragon's breath cannon and now looked like a half-cooked chicken nest.
Lina's condition wasn't very good either. She looked pale, her whole body was shaky, and her eyes were full of fear.
"Bazel, what's going on?!"
"I think we have fallen into a trap set by the resistance!" Bazel said bitterly, "This is all their conspiracy. They evacuated the camp early and pretended to leave in a hurry to attract us to search there."
"Then the monster rushed over while we were gathered together."
Bazel suddenly turned his head and said, "Lina, do you recognize the weapon in that monster's hand? Could it be related to the fire-chasing moth?"
Before, Nini raised the muzzle of the cannon towards him. The cold, rough steel weapon and the red jet pouring out of it left such a deep impression on him, like a nightmare lingering in his mind.
This morning, he was still the border earl who roamed the north. When that terrifying weapon sounded, the two teams of Winter Wolves and Frostland Guards were all blown to ashes. These were the most elite soldiers in his hands. After this battle, he was seriously injured and it was lucky that he could defend his territory. He could only lick his wounds slowly.
The three grand dukes around him are not vegetarians, and they will definitely bite off some pieces of meat from him this time.
Lina shook her head without hesitation: "Impossible, the Fire Moths don't have this kind of weapon. It looks like it's from the Mechanical Temple."
"The Mechanical Temple?" Bazel's face darkened. "It is indeed a conspiracy of the church. I knew that Gwen was not an ordinary person!"
"I'm sorry I couldn't save you, I'm just a mortal, there's nothing I could do."
Gwen silently placed a bouquet of flowers in front of the tombstone.
It has been a few days since the battle ended. The winter wolves have attacked several times, but they have all been beaten back.
The resistance army waited for Basel's large force to arrive, but after waiting for a long time, there was no sign of it.
Did he give up on this place? Gwen didn't know.
She only knew that she might never see that somewhat gloomy friend again.
Isaac has been missing for so long that he must be in grave danger.
The various forces actually achieved a delicate balance based on misunderstandings.
Time passed quickly, and there were undercurrents in the North, but there were no more major wars.
