Chapter 562: Have you seen the aerial bomb?

Chapter 562: Have you seen the aerial bomb?

The two men looked at the lighthouse in the distance, and Alvaro spoke first.

He tapped the road with his cane. "Look, the lighthouse is very similar to the road we are on, at least in color. There aren't many stones of this color. You said before that this material is..."

“Concrete.”

"What do you know about this material?"

"It can be kneaded at will like mud, but it has amazing strength after solidification. You saw the fortress at the North Border Station when we came here before. It has experienced monster attacks and even been bombed by airship bombs, but it still maintains a considerable degree of integrity. You haven't forgotten the power of the bomb, right?"

Alvaro naturally knew that after he surrendered, not all of his vassals followed him in surrendering. Several lords relied on the strong walls and castles on their territories and planned to resist stubbornly. The expeditionary force pulled him aside to persuade them to surrender.

Therefore, he watched the entire expeditionary force's siege.

The soldiers had no intention of rushing forward. They just slowly set up machine guns on the nearby heights and called on the airship to bomb.

The soldiers next to him had already laid prone on the ground and urged him to do the same. Alvaro looked at the city wall in the distance and really didn't know what the point of doing this was.

He didn't want to lie down on the dirt ground, so he asked if it would be okay to stand.

The expeditionary force hesitated for a moment and told him that it was not a big problem, so he did not lie down.

He just watched the airship slowly come over from the sky, find a good position, and drop a bomb.

There was only one bomb, and it landed on the stone wall.

A red light flashed, and then a huge flame instantly pushed apart the wall and the air.

Then a huge fireball of orange, red and black colors surged upward and exploded in all directions.

Then the air seemed to become blurred for a moment. With the landing point as the center, everything nearby was surrounded by flames, and thick smoke covered everything from top to bottom.

Then the explosion began to spread, and the soldiers lying on the side lowered their heads and pointed their helmets in the direction of the explosion.

Alvaro vaguely realized that something was wrong. Everything seemed to be in slow motion. He wanted to lie down quickly, but his body was as slow as a frog crawling.

He saw the explosion first, and the loud blast was heard a moment later. A little later, a strong wind like a tsunami suddenly hit him.

There was no wind disaster in the north, and Alvarez had never imagined that the air could be condensed into substance.

He felt like he was hit hard, but luckily he was far enough away and the shock wave had lost most of its power, so he just fell to the ground.

Alvarez didn't care about the pain in his body. When he raised his head from the ground, the first thing he did was to look at the city wall in the distance.

City wall?

There is no city wall.

The place where the bomb fell has become a deep pit, and everything around it has fallen down in an extremely impactful shape. Alvaro couldn't even estimate how many casualties there were - he didn't see any corpses, and there was nothing in the explosion range except a layer of ground that had been scraped off.

The expeditionary soldier next to him patted him on the shoulder and said, "Mr. Alvarez, it's up to you."

"ah?"

"Please go and persuade them to surrender again, and tell them that if they don't surrender."

He pointed to the airship.

Alvarez looked in the direction his finger pointed and saw that the bomb bay of the airship had been opened, revealing neatly arranged bombs underneath.

"It's okay, don't worry, just shout, the brothers on the airship are eager to throw more, later. Damn it!"

The expeditionary soldier lost his composure instantly. He looked at the white flag hanging on the city wall in the distance and stood up angrily: "Why are they surrendering so soon!?"

Alvarez smiled bitterly. Forgot? How could he forget? The flames that burst forth in an instant dimmed the blazing sun, as if that was the real sun.

He will never forget it until his death.

"Can a concrete fortress withstand the explosion of aerial bombs?"

"The bombs didn't land directly on the fortress, but they were almost there. The airships were dropping bombs right next to the fortress's outer walls, and the concrete blocked all of them."

“Oh my god.”

Alvarez looked at the lighthouse in the distance in shock. Why did they build such a sturdy lighthouse? Could someone attack from the sea?

"This is such a waste. Such a strong material is used to make a lighthouse. Wouldn't it be better to use it to build more fortresses?"

"What a waste." Hunter laughed bitterly. He looked around casually and pointed to the pipe above the street: "Look at that."

Alvarez looked closely and found that the pipes were suspended on both sides of the street, close to the houses and extending in all directions. At each distance, thinner pipes would branch out and lead into the houses. "What is that?"

"Gas pipelines. Throughout the entire city of Blood Harbor, steam pipelines run underground, while gas pipelines run in the sky. The two sides are supplied independently to prevent interference with each other if problems arise."

"Gas pipeline. Gas pipeline," Alvarez repeated several times, his brows gradually furrowed. "Is this kind of thing dangerous? Since it can be used to light a fire, it should be easy to catch fire, right?"

"It's more than just a fire. The gas mixed in the air will explode if it encounters an open flame!"

"Then, how can they get so close to us?!"

Hunter pulled Alvarez forward a few steps and said, "Uncle, look at that."

Alvarez looked up and saw that this section of the pipe seemed to end here. The pipe on the other side was connected to this side through a raised circle, and it was fixed with a circle of bolts on it.

"This is a flange, which is the connection between two sections of pipe. Look at the thickness."

Alvarez stretched out his hand and gestured, and was surprised to find that it was several times thicker than the thickest plate armor.

Hunter picked up a small stone and threw it over. The stone and the pipe made a crisp sound, and Alvarez's eyes suddenly widened.

"This, this, is this steel?" he asked stutteringly.

"Of course, these exposed pipes are all thickened. You have used a musket before, right? I dare say that if you shoot a few shots at it with a musket, there may not even be a mark on the pipe."

The biggest advantage of the musket is armor piercing. Although the range of this weapon is very short, it can penetrate the knight's plate armor head-on, which completely changed the form of war.

The pipes above the head

Alvaro looked up at the pipe above his head, then looked across the street, and then he looked forward along the street.

The streets of the entire Blood Harbor are as densely packed as a spider web, and the pipes above are even denser than the streets.

“How much steel does this take?”
