Chapter 569: Bazel, That's Where You Will Work in the Future
Bettys said a few words in panic, but her mother-in-law ignored her and just lifted her up with a smile. Bettys covered her eyes with both hands in fear, but could not help glancing forward through her fingers.
She looked over people's heads. It was the first time she was so high.
Bettys was very short. She could only barely reach the fried fish counter by standing on a box, and she had to stand on tiptoe to hand fried fish to customers.
Her heart was pounding, but luckily her mother-in-law's hand was steady. Bettys looked towards the platform cautiously.
The train hadn't arrived yet, but there were several rows of fully armed expeditionary troops standing near the platform, and they even had a few machine guns pointed towards the deserted opposite side.
We didn't have to wait too long. A train came from afar with a loud whistle.
Bettys stared at it with wide eyes, feeling that the car seemed a little different.
Trains heading to the North have always had armed locomotives with several machine gun positions and several dragon-breath cannons, plus a ram on the front of the locomotive to clear the way. As long as the railway is intact, they are not afraid of facing the siege of an entire army.
But on the train returning from the North today, the machine gun positions were rarely pointed towards the train carriages.
The expeditionary force attached great importance to Basel. Although they did not discover any abilities of his other than resurrection, they still carefully prepared a train to escort him.
Machine guns were mounted on the front and back of the carriage transporting Basel. In the middle, apart from the box containing Basel, there was only a fully armed Banshee.
The two expeditionary teams were on standby in the rear carriages, ready to respond quickly to any accidents.
As the train approached, two teams of heavily armored Banshees separated from the expeditionary force and lined up neatly on the platform.
The train slowly stopped.
Several expeditionary teams immediately stood at the car door with weapons in hand. After a while, a banshee walked out of the car with a box in her hand?
Bettys looked at the banshee holding the box with some confusion. Could this be Bazel?
Soon her question was answered. Another taller banshee bent over and walked out of the carriage, holding half a skeleton in her hand.
Wait, a skeleton? Half!?
Betty's eyes widened.
Most of the people in Blood Harbor come from the lower city. Not only are they used to seeing dead people, but they are not afraid of seeing corpses and skeletons.
But that skeleton seems to still be moving?
Looking closely, the skeleton did not seem to be very complete. It only had a head, a section of the spine and sternum, and its hands and feet had been removed.
Even so, it was not very obedient and was still struggling in Ash's hands.
But when Ash walked out of the carriage and the skeleton was exposed to the sunlight of Blood Harbor, it suddenly froze.
There was no expression on the skeleton's skull, but its open jaw and motionless body spoke of its shock.
What is it shocking?
Bettys followed its line of sight with some curiosity.
There are two long rows of nearly a hundred Banshees, all wearing heavy armor. The cold texture of steel and their tall bodies make them look like messengers of God.
Next to the banshee was a squad of expeditionary forces, with heavy Gatling machine guns lined up in a row. The black muzzles seemed to suck people in, pointing directly at the carriages.
Beyond the Banshees and the soldiers of the expeditionary force, beyond the countless people watching from the Blood Harbor, there were the tall customs building, the school buildings, and a cluster of factory buildings.
A forest of steel and iron, a world built of concrete.
Chimneys were belching black smoke pointing towards the sky, and gantry cranes were roaring into action, transporting huge containers from the port to the steel platform floating on the sea.
That was Castel's new type of freighter. Insisting that bigger is better, Tata never built his sea fortress, but the freighters he designed were bigger and bigger.
Bettys looked away and scratched her head.
There doesn't seem to be anything strange, they are all very common. What is the skeleton shocked about?
Basel was of course shocked. He saw the blood harbor in front of him and his gaze fell on the little girl not far away. She also looked at the blood harbor, but with an expression of being accustomed to it, which made Basel even more unbelievable.
"Where is this?"
"Blood Harbor, the city recently built by Castel, is where you will be judged." said the steel giant on the side.
Basel raised his head and for the first time took a serious look at the people escorting him.
"You are not human. You are so tall, have six arms, a tail, and are holding weapons. Why aren't those civilians afraid of you?"
Basel looked at the people in the distance. There was only fanaticism in those people's eyes. When they looked at the Banshee, there was respect, admiration, and longing, but no fear.
"Why should they be afraid of me?" Ash asked calmly, but Bazel seemed to be choked and didn't know how to answer.
He also selected elites from the army to form independent teams. When those people walked on the streets, the people in the territory saw them as if they were evil spirits from hell. They hid in all directions, trying not to avoid them.
The more people fear an army, the stronger it is.
But these banshees are not feared by the people of Blood Harbor. Aren’t they strong?
Ash's hand was still firmly grasped on his skull, his fingertips easily poking holes, and his entire hand was stuck on his head.
This was the strongest army of extraordinary people he had ever seen. The number was so huge, and they were a foreign race, but they were not feared.
Basel felt his mind was in a mess, and all his cognition seemed to be under attack.
"What are those things in the distance? Why are those buildings so tall? Are there people living in them? What are those things sticking out toward the sky? Are they on fire? Why are they smoking?"
He looked at everything in front of him, and it seemed as if his heart was trembling in his empty sternum. He always thought that he lost only because he was deceived by Lina, but the blood port in front of him gave him an absurd guess.
Maybe he wasn't deceived by Lina, and if he fought Castel head-on, he might not be able to defeat him?
No, it was impossible, absolutely impossible. His Winter Wolf was the strongest in the North, and the tactics he personally invented forced the three Grand Dukes to acknowledge his status.
Ash was not a talkative person, and Bazel thought his question would not get a response, but she answered in a cold voice.
"The long column over there is a chimney. It's normal to see smoke coming out of it. There is a factory under the chimney. There is a steam engine in the factory. The steam engine needs to burn a boiler, fill it with fuel, and boil water. The steam will drive the mechanical equipment to produce and work for Castel."
Ash paused in his words.
"And that will be where you will work in the future."
"factory?"
"No, the boiler."
