Chapter 771: Near Death
Nini stared at the shield in the air with her eyes wide open.
Although it was called a shield, it was as high as three or four stories, just floating in the air without any support.
Neither the Dragon Breath Cannon nor the bullets could penetrate it - the bullets from the heavy machine guns were fine, but the Dragon Breath Cannon sacrificed range in exchange for enormous power, and could generally ignore cover in battle!
"What the hell is this?!"
If it can even block the Dragon's Breath Cannon, it means that the level of protection is almost that of the armor plate of an ironclad ship, which can only be seen in permanent fortifications.
How did it suddenly appear in the air?
Supernatural powers?
Nini's face was solemn. No matter what method a superhuman uses, there is a limit to their strength. The Banshee is almost the superhuman who is best at frontal combat, but she still cannot withstand the Dragon Breath Cannon.
Even the extraordinary ritual set up by the Fire Moth requires a long time to set up and cannot be moved. After paying these costs, it is difficult to achieve this effect!
This is a power that is completely beyond cognition!
After blocking the attack, the shield remained in the air for a short while before gradually disintegrating and turning into a black viscous liquid that fell from the sky.
Nini's eyes narrowed.
Why does this black liquid look so much like pollution?
As the shield crumbled, the Candlelight Society priests who had been hiding behind it appeared on the battlefield.
"Nini, look over there!"
Una's voice rang out from the bottom of her heart, and Nini looked in the direction she pointed.
The priests in front of him were holding guns, and behind them was a group of young men.
They were not holding any weapons, nor wearing armor, but were wearing simple white clothes, singing in neat rows?
What do these people do? Why are they on the battlefield?
"I remember these people! The Candlelight Society's rank classification manual says they're the choir singers!" Oona muttered to herself.
"Actors are in battle formation?"
"No, they are only responsible for singing and chanting hymns."
Nini had a bad feeling. Could the inexplicable appearance of these actors on the battlefield be related to the shield in the air just now?
Before they could react, the shield in the air dissipated and the priests armed with steam rifles opened fire.
Nini and Una had no choice but to dodge again in embarrassment.
The situation of the Untouchables was better. They were short and not easy to be hit. They were also familiar with the garbage dump. They fled in all directions shouting and their figures could not be seen for a while.
Nini tried to fire under the fire, but every time she showed her head she was shot back. She had been hit several times. Now it was only her and Una who shared the life pool, and neither of them dared to move forward.
Just as the two banshees were being suppressed, a voice suddenly rang out on the battlefield.
"Honestly, if this is all you have, it's a bit boring."
Nini looked over and found a man standing fearlessly in front of the front line. His body was covered with sophisticated mechanical structures and he held a cardinal's scepter in his hand.
He grinned at Nini and said, "Nini, I've heard a lot about you. I have a collection of all your reports. Could you please sign it for me when you have time?"
After saying that, he didn't wait for Nini to reply, but raised the gun directly towards her.
"Chance!"
Una was standing in the front, and Nini had contacted her with a mental link when she stuck her head out. Now she stood up suddenly, raised the dragon breath cannon and fired at the man!
boom!
The man and Una opened fire at the same time. Although she was not attacked, Una spat out a mouthful of blood.
Nini was shot.
The moment the man raised his gun, Nini put her six hands in front of her and dodged to the side at high speed, but the bullet in his hand seemed to have eyes and hit Nini directly.
The bullet penetrated Nini's gauntlet and passed through her helmet, leaving a big hole in the front part of the helmet, which was the most heavily protected. Blood spurted out from the back.
Nini fell directly from the air and collapsed to the ground.
If she hadn't shared her life force with Una, she would have been killed directly. Even now, she and Una were on the verge of death and had completely lost their combat effectiveness.
"Lady Nini!"
"Hurry up and save them!"
Frey and the Untouchables immediately rushed forward in panic, but the combat priests in the rear opened fire and they were suppressed again, leaving only a few corpses.
The man walked up to Nini calmly, squatted in front of her, and looked at her through the big hole in his mask.
"Banshee, I've heard of you for a long time, but this is the first time I've seen you. You're nothing special."
The gunshot wound on Nini's head had mostly healed, and her face was covered in blood. She opened her eyes with some difficulty and said, "You are Jules."
"Yes, yes, yes. Do you think I'm really amazing?"
Nini looked at him. Jules was wearing a gorgeous papal robe - which was usually worn at formal ceremonies and was full of intricate patterns and decorations.
Those decorations were complete and exquisite, but Una had just hit him with the dragon breath cannon!
Escaped?
Impossible, at such a close distance, even if she could dodge, Una could cover it again with just a slight turn of her wrist.
What's more, just to be safe, Una fired the dragon breath cannons in all six hands at the same time.
"It's very powerful." Nini stared at him intently, her mind racing, trying to find a way to deal with him.
"Actually, he's not that bad. He may not be as powerful as your lord." Yulehu said.
Even though this was a battlefield, even though there were enemies before her, even though her life was hanging by a thread, Nini was stunned for a moment when she heard these words.
What does that mean? Why did he suddenly say that?
Why does this person seem crazy?
Yule just smiled, raised his gun and put it against Nini's head.
"Bye now."
boom!
The earth shook and Nini felt a black screen before her eyes. The rising smoke and dust made her cough, and the wounds on her body were throbbing with pain.
Wait, it hurts?
She is not dead?
When she opened her eyes, Nini saw only a huge mechanical arm blocking her way.
"System self-check complete, switching to war mode."
Suddenly, there was a loud noise behind her, mixed with the cheers of the untouchables. Nini looked up and saw the [Big Guy] standing up.
It was it that stretched out its hand and stood in front of Nini just now.
This war machine sleeping in the garbage dump is ridiculously large. Before, it had only been able to lie underground because the cave was not high enough. Now, the collapsed hole finally allowed it to stand up.
The sun shone on its body, casting shadows. This was the second time it basked in the sun - the last time was in the Upper Rhine, when it rescued Beatrice.
Jules' bullet hit its arm, making a big hole in the thick steel, but ultimately failed to penetrate it.
Several untouchables took the opportunity to rush over and snatch Nini back.
