Chapter 805 Betty and the Two Noras
Betty was momentarily lost in thought as she looked at the girl before her.
She had heard Nora's story.
He even had contact with Nora.
Another Nora.
Hughes would occasionally send Nora some work over there, but he never actually gave Nora any work.
Unlike Nora, who only has a head, Nora doesn't have a head and is usually rather dull, only exhibiting some instinctive reactions.
When the two Noras arrived in Castel, calling them both Nora would be a bit confusing, and calling them Nora (above) and Nora (below) would be a bit strange. So, following the convention of calling the two Gwens, Hughes referred to Nora as Big Nora and Little Nora respectively.
So Nora not only lost her body, but also her name. She lost a part of herself.
Let's get back to the story of Nora.
Hughes not only didn't assign any work to Great Nora, but he also specifically instructed the Secret Order and the Imperial Truth to keep an eye on her—Great Nora was always in a state of being able to communicate and not being able to communicate, and it wouldn't be good if someone angered her and made her draw her sword to kill people.
Little Nora has a lot to do: she needs to study, she needs to work, she needs to hang her name in church, and she needs to participate in ball games, while Big Nora just wanders around all day.
After spending some time in Castells, she went to Bloodharbor and has been staying there ever since.
It wasn't Hughes who sent her to Bloodharbor; she swam there herself.
Big Nora seemed to prefer the vibrant city to Castel, which was full of bunkers.
So most of the people of Bloodharbor had seen her, and after the initial shock, "Nora the Headless" gradually became a part of Bloodharbor.
Betty had seen Nora the Headless.
She walked down the street wearing a slightly worn, heavy suit of armor and carrying a long sword, making a dull clanging sound.
Like a king inspecting his territory.
The residents of Blood Harbor often kept their distance from her, fearing that they might offend her and end up with no head of their own.
Betty just watched from afar.
One evening later, as she was preparing to pack up her stall, she looked up and suddenly saw Nora standing in front of the shop.
Bettis was startled. Although she had run away and opened a shop all by herself, and had two legendary employees, Gwen and Yami, she was still just a little girl at heart.
Upon suddenly seeing the headless body, she froze in shock.
What is she planning to do? Is she planning to take my head under the cover of darkness?
Betty was lost in thought and didn't dare to move.
Nora stood there blankly for a long time before suddenly pointing to Betty's stall.
Betty looked over and saw it was a bag of fries.
Today, a customer ordered fries but left in a hurry and never came back to pick them up. This kind of thing happens often. Betty usually takes the leftover fries herself for dinner.
Fries that have been left out for too long become soggy and don't taste good. Ironically, she sells fries, but she eats these soggy, unpalatable fries the most.
"Do you want fries? We're out of potatoes. Come back tomorrow."
Nora didn't move; she continued to point at the fries.
"These fries are soggy, they're awful."
Nora pointed at the fries.
Betty: "."
Bettis: "Okay, I'll pack it for you."
She put the fries in a box and habitually asked, "Sweet jam or hot sauce?"
After asking the question, Betty realized something was wrong. Nora, who was headless, didn't even have a head, so how could she speak?
She stared blankly at Nora, who swayed slightly. Betty inexplicably felt she understood something: "You don't want any of them?"
Nora took the fries from him and then turned and left.
The streetlights were dim, and soon all that could be heard was the clanging sound fading into the distance.
Betty hesitated for a moment, but her curiosity eventually overcame her fear. She untied her apron, threw it aside, locked the door, and chased after him.
She planned to watch from a distance, and if she was discovered, she would turn around and leave.
Nora was already short, and now she's even shorter, making her a little harder to spot at night.
Fortunately, the clanging sound of the armor moving guided Betty, and she followed the sound all the way to the seaside.
This is a coastal highway, and you can see the docks in the distance, brightly lit and still handling cargo day and night.
Nora was sitting on the seawall, swinging her legs back and forth.
The box of fries was opened, and Nora pulled out a fry and tossed it into the air—
With a flapping sound of wings, the French fries in the sky were snatched away by a seagull.
Betty looked up at the sky and saw that there were many seagulls, their white feathers quite conspicuous in the night.
As if sensing Betty's gaze, Nora shifted her body slightly to the side.
Bettis instinctively hid behind a tree nearby, intending to leave, but Nora had already turned back.
Then, she gently patted the ground beside her.
Betty peeked out. She had intended to leave, but perhaps because the night was too quiet and peaceful, she hesitated and walked forward as if possessed.
Nora ignored her and focused on feeding the seagulls until Betty came to her side, at which point she moved aside.
Bettis swallowed hard and sat down. The concrete breakwater was icy cold, but the sea breeze was warm.
Nora took out another French fry and tossed it into the air. A seagull cried out happily and swooped over her head.
The tips of the feathers were not far from Betty; she could even feel the wind from the seagull's wings, which tickled her.
The sound of waves came from afar. Betty turned her head to look and saw the silver moonlight spilling onto the sea, shattered by the waves, like thousands of stars scattered in the sea.
"So beautiful!"
The sea at night is like a gentle mother, softly humming a lullaby with its waves, allowing weary people to fall asleep peacefully.
Looking at the sea before her, Betty felt her weariness gradually receding, and her tense heart slowly relaxing.
A gentle sea breeze blew through her long hair. Betty reached out to brush it aside, but bumped into something.
Looking down, Nora's hand was raised in front of her. As if sensing her gaze, Nora gently shook the box of fries in her hand.
"Thanks."
Betty pulled one out and, like her, tossed it into the air.
Several seagulls rushed over to snatch it, creating a noisy scene, but Betty felt only tranquility.
Under the moonlight, she and Nora sat on the beach for a very long time.
From then on, when Nora wandered the streets, she would occasionally stop in front of her fish and chips shop, and Betty would make extra fries to save for them, so that she could go to the beach with Nora in the evenings.
So she wasn't afraid of Nora, at least not that Nora.
In front of the self-propelled artillery, Nora saw Betty staring blankly at her for some reason, and then nudged forward again while biting her money pouch.
