Chapter 836 The Death of Jules
Lina shouted angrily.
"Then you can help me assassinate Hughes."
"You think assassinating him is so easy?! I've tried several times, and failed every time! He's a monster; supernatural powers are ineffective against him. I even used a ritual to summon a god, but it didn't work! Do you even know what a god is?! You don't! You piece of trash! Garbage! Maggots on the ground! Shit-eating horse-faced fish!"
Lina was indeed furious. She pointed at Jules and berated him for a long time, but Jules didn't even blink.
After she finished cursing, Jules slowly spoke up: "I sent you to assassinate Hughes, actually to help you see [Father]. In fact, you should have already met."
"We've met before?" Lina was taken aback, frowning as she thought for a long time.
"Could my father be Hughes?"
"Pfft." Jules couldn't help but laugh out loud. Seeing that Lina across from him was about to blush again, he slowly explained:
“I’m talking about Gwen, not the Gwen who beats you up every time, but the Gwen in the North. Haven’t you noticed? She’s getting stronger and stronger.”
“You’ve always thought she was the ‘named one,’ but I think it’s the opposite. She’s actually your ‘father,’ who came into Gwen’s body.”
“I have been sending investigators to the North to find out about this matter, and now... we have some leads.”
“I don’t believe it. My father isn’t a woman,” Lina said without hesitation.
Jules's nonchalant expression faltered, and his voice cracked with exasperation: "A body, a body, do you understand? He just happened to encounter a female body, not that your [father] is a woman!"
"He also has a female body?"
"Why not? I mean, why can't there be? Never mind, let's not talk about that now. Anyway, I have evidence that Beigewen is related to your [father]!"
Lina's eyes widened, her expression saying, "I'm listening, please continue."
Jules looked at her and sighed: "Wasn't Bazel bewitched by you and used the Bone Sanctuary? He controlled the White Calamity and headed south, but Gwen blocked his way."
"Oh, to distinguish them, the one in the north is called North Gwen, and the one in the south is called South Gwen."
“You might think that North Gwyn took control after Castel defeated the White Disaster, but my men’s investigation found that this is not the case.”
"She entered the White Calamity first, which means she faced the most powerful White Calamity directly, and forcibly devoured him even after Bazel took control of the Bone Sanctuary."
"You should know how difficult this is, after all, you gave him the Hall of Bones."
Lina's expression turned serious, and she slowly nodded: "I can't do that either."
"North Gwen is stronger than you; at least he's a [Named Person], right?"
Lina's face twitched. It was as if she were the gatekeeper of the [Named Ones]. She was not weak at all, okay? She used to be known as [Lina the Destroyer of Nations].
“After that, North Gwen kept getting stronger.”
“You should know that a [named being] cannot become stronger. Your [father] created you with the same strength, and that is the strength you are; it cannot be changed.”
Lina nodded, then sensed something was wrong and abruptly looked up at Jules: "You know that the [Named Ones] were created by the [Father]!?"
"Don't interrupt. North Gwen isn't just getting stronger; she's also gradually being able to connect with other people."
"Link? What kind of link?"
"There have been several reports of unusual occurrences within the Empire. Many people claim to have heard eerie whispers that tell extremely distorted stories, which were later proven to contain accurate knowledge."
"You mean, correct knowledge is entering people's minds in a distorted way?"
"Pretty much. I used up a lot of [Investigators] to prove that these things were connected to the North. Let me just say it, it all points to North Gwyn."
Lina fell silent, her expression clearly wavering.
"Besides that, I also suspect that South Gwen and North Gwen have some connection. South Gwen, you've met him, the one who can beat you to a pulp."
"I've met him."
"Although she hasn't become stronger, she's always been very strong. Don't you find that strange?"
“I investigated her. Her background is complete. She seems to be just an ordinary superhuman. Her abilities are no different from others, just exceptionally strong. She should not be a ‘named person’.”
“Then you should investigate the other Gwen. Her resume is completely blank, as if she appeared out of thin air, yet she has a occult connection with this Gwen.”
"All of these together, I believe North Gwen is your [father], while South Gwen is just another shell of his."
Lina frowned: "How come the other body is also female?"
Jules: "."
Jules: "That's not important. In short, your [father] has revived for some reason. These are detailed reports from the [investigators]. You can judge for yourself. This intelligence was collected at the cost of many lives."
Hera reached out and handed several thick file boxes to Lina. Lina gave her a complicated look before taking them.
"Alright, that's all the information I have. It was a pleasure working with you, and I hope it will be just as pleasant next time."
"That's all the intelligence we have, nothing's been missed. Are you sure?"
"certainly."
Lina nodded: "That's good."
No sooner had she finished speaking than she launched a sudden attack, striking at Jules once more.
Hela, who was already prepared, immediately stood in front of Jules. Lina was only a few steps away from Jules, but she just couldn't get past him.
Jules smiled, about to say something.
Suddenly, his expression froze, and he slowly lowered his head.
A steel arm pierced his chest. Jules looked up in disbelief and saw the person in front of him slowly withdrawing his hand, his fingers, which had just been grading files, covered in black machine oil.
"Gears. Sages!?"
“You know about [Father], so you cannot be allowed to live.” Lina’s tone was icy as she walked past Hela, who stood motionless as if she had lost her soul, and stood in front of Jules.
She raised her foot and stomped down hard on Jules.
A series of sounds of parts breaking and shattering rang out, and Jules Steel's body was smashed to pieces on the ground.
Lina continued stomping until she was absolutely certain that Jules had lost all life, then she looked around, panting.
The Vatican was quiet, with candlelight flickering.
She glanced one last time at Jules' remains, then left the room with the Gear Saint.
After a long while, Hela, who had been motionless as if the power had been cut off, suddenly trembled.
Hela stretched her body, looked down at Jules scattered on the ground, and sighed.
"She actually said I didn't know what 'gods' were."
