Chapter 30 Deserted Paint Factory

As Qin Shi came from Heilongjiang Province, the northernmost province of China, he had never seen such hot weather. It was like being in a sauna room, but the problem was that he was still wearing clothes.

Wanli came from a military background and had been trained in various environments. His adaptability was much better than Qin Shi's. Ren Mingyue, who was from the south, seemed to be indifferent.

Seeing Qin Shi sweating profusely, Wanli quickly handed him a tissue.

"Team Leader, is it so hot? Are you feeling a little weak?"

Although Wanli lowered his voice deliberately, Qin Shi still blushed.

"What are you talking about? I'm just hot. I'll send you the address. Hurry up and book a car and a hotel. I really can't stand it anymore!" Qin Shi felt dizzy and his head was spinning.

Soon, the two rented a car directly from the airport. After turning on the air conditioner, Qin Shi got in and drove towards the designated destination.

It was not until he got off the car, entered the hotel, and turned the air conditioner to the lowest setting that Qin Shi gradually recovered from his dizziness.

"I regret it. Why did I come here?"

"Team leader, let's go out tonight so you can have a good rest!"

In order to take care of Qin Shi, the three of them did not go out to look for food until late at night.

The dazzling array of food and the meticulously crafted delicacies opened the eyes of Qin Shi, who had lived in northern China for many years.

The only problem is that the portion of each dish is too small. For Qin Shi, who was born and raised in the north, one dish is not enough to fill his stomach.

"Sister Mingyue? You seem very familiar with the food here?"

"I'm from the south, so of course I'm familiar with it. Cantonese cuisine and Hangzhou cuisine are both my favorites."

"By the way, how did you two get into the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology?" Wan Li suddenly asked about their careers.

"Of course it's a unified examination. I ranked first in both the written examination and the interview, so I was selected!" Qin Shi felt that this was nonsense. If there was no examination, could it be based on connections?

"You got first place in the written test?" Not only Wanli, but even Ren Mingyue was surprised.

"Yeah, what's strange?"

"No, no, I only ranked third in the written exam!" Ren Mingyue didn't say much, but Qin Shi also realized that the third place in the written exam shouldn't be a high score, but to be able to work in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, I think the interview score must be very high. However, the interview...

Interviews in China are all about connections and relationships. Ren Mingyue's ability to get first place in the interview doesn't necessarily mean her family has connections. But it's hard to ask directly about this kind of thing; who would be as outspoken as Wanli?

"Wanli, then why did you join the army and then the Ministry of National Defense?"

"Me? I had poor grades and couldn't go to college, so I joined the army directly. I studied at a military academy in the army, and then was assigned to the Ministry of National Defense!" Wan Li said as if it was a matter of course.

"What do your parents do?" Qin Shi had never known the background of Wanli and Mingyue.

"Both my parents were soldiers, so my family is a military family!"

Wanli was introducing himself with a proud look on his face, and Qin Shi suddenly understood that since Wanli was assigned to his team, it seemed that his background must be extraordinary.

After finally having a night's rest, the three of them set out for the Qiangguang Paint Factory not far from the hotel early the next morning.

The paint factory was very busy at this time. A large group of people were sitting on the ground in front of the paint factory. Some were chatting, some were taking a nap, and some were even eating breakfast.

"Boss, I checked last night and it seems that Qiguang Paint is indeed involved in product problems, and the factory has now stopped production."

"Let's go and have a look!"

The gate was closed, and only a thin old man was on duty in the guard room. He saw Qin Shi and the other two coming and opened the window directly.

"Hey, are you here to collect your wages or debts? The boss is in jail and the factory is closed. If you're not willing to accept this, just sit outside."

"Uncle, we are not here to ask for wages or debts. We just want to know something. Do you think it would be convenient for us to chat?" Qin Shi wanted to know something from the security guard.

"Want to talk to me? I don't know anything. Either leave now or sit over there. I won't let you in."

"Uncle, don't worry. Our team leader is from the north and can't stand this temperature. How about we go to your room and turn on the air conditioner for a while?"

Wanli is often slow to act in other matters, but he knows how to handle human relationships very well. Seeing that the old man was not cooperating, he took out two packs of hard-packed cigarettes from his pocket and quietly stuffed them into the old man's pockets when no one was paying attention.

"Blowing the air conditioner is no big deal. Come on in! I like you guys. You know how to behave. Unlike those debt collectors out there, who just sit there like idiots. What's the point?"

As he spoke, the guard opened the door and let the three people into the house.

"Uncle, my name is Wanli. What's your surname?" Wanli acted as a vanguard soldier and started chatting with the old man.

"Don't call me worthy, just call me Lao Zhao!" Lao Zhao lit a cigarette and started smoking.

"Old Zhao, are these people here to collect debts?"

"Isn't it? It's been half a month. The boss is in jail, and these people are blocking the gate. But the factory is bankrupt. What's the point of blocking the gate? If they have the guts, they can go block the city government!"

"The boss ran away, why didn't you leave? Is there anyone still paying you?"

"Hey, what's the point of a salary? I'm just guarding the door. I can't leave until someone from the government replaces me. The factory is closed, but there are still buildings and equipment inside. Someone needs to look after it, right?"

"Lao Zhao, you really impressed me. I have seen many people who can do their work to this level, little brother, but you are definitely one of them!" Wanli praised Lao Zhao.
