Chapter 9 Passionate Strangeness

From the age of twenty to twenty-five, a full five years.

A person has several five-year periods in his life.

A twenty-year-old girl is full of fantasies about life and is innocent.

After five years of living in my husband’s family, I didn’t have a lover who was devoted to me, only an invisible and intangible husband on the other end of the letter.

Hua Yuanyuan still poured all her fantasies into this person who should have been close to her but was more unfamiliar than a stranger.

I fantasized about my husband coming back suddenly one day, about visiting my husband to give him a surprise, about whether our child would be a boy or a girl...

Lying in bed every day, I have these unrealistic dreams.

She can only fall asleep by thinking about the beautiful life in the future.

So when she heard the Wang family say that her husband wanted to divorce her, she was desperate.

Her dream was shattered.

Unlike her, she regretted the moment she jumped, because if she lived, there would be infinite possibilities in the future.

Even though Hua Yuanyuan was so cold when she jumped into the ice hole, she had no regrets. She could not see the future, nor could she see hope.

It's the thirteenth day of the twelfth lunar month, and every household is hibernating.

The Wang family is in the north of the village, and the Hua family is in the south of the village.

Along the way, I met a few people.

It was inevitable to ask a few more questions, but Hua Youcai just laughed it off and didn't want to say more.

Soon the news spread in the village that the daughter of the Hua family had returned and taken things away from the Wang family. They must have disbanded.

After Hua Yuanyuan got home and sorted out her things, the first thing she did was to find her newest clothes and change into them, from inside to outside.

She doesn't have the habit of wearing old clothes and is reluctant to put new clothes at the bottom of the box.

She is just the opposite.

Hua Yuanyuan was packing her things in the west room, while the father and son were whispering on the kang in the east room.

"Son, if someone knocks on the door, just go out and say I'm not feeling well and I'll tell you if there's anything."

"Dad, what if someone insists on coming in?"

"Didn't you lock the door? Don't open it."

"Okay, got it."

"Your sister has just figured it out. Don't be upset by all that gossip."

Hua Youcai was really frightened by his own daughter. He saw with his own eyes that his daughter jumped down without even a scolding.

Oh, I really don’t want to live anymore.

He jumped in after her. The water was very cold. Fortunately, he was a few steps behind his daughter. If he was far away, it would be too late to jump in...

I have nightmares every night about my daughter jumping around. It’s so scary.

Hua Youcai was frightened after this incident.

I don't have any requirements, just that my daughter lives well.

I listen to my daughter in everything. She can do whatever she wants as long as she is happy.

Both the daughter and his life were saved.

Live one more day and earn one more day.

If you want to get married, find another man. If you don’t want to get married, live with him.

After a few years, when his son gets married and has his own family, he can live better with his daughter and avoid being bullied by his daughter-in-law.

Anyway, Hua Youcai just thinks whatever he wants and talks about whatever comes to mind.

Hua Fangfang was seen being instructed by her father to act as a messenger.

Shouting at the door of the west room, "Sister, is the kang still warm? Do you want more firewood?"

"Sister, is it cold in the room? Why don't you go to the east room and warm up before you do anything?"

"Sister, the tea is ready. Do you want some first?"

"Sister, the stove is idle. Do you want some baked sweet potatoes?"

Hua Yuanyuan..., are you afraid that she will keep silent and do great things?

That’s right, Hua Youcai did have this worry.

Even though my daughter seems normal and has moved on, I'm still worried.

I’m afraid that I might go astray before I can wrap my mind around it.

Hua Yuanyuan came to the east room carrying the bedding, "Xiao Fang, go over and get the beds on the kang."

Hua Fangfang didn't know what his sister wanted to do, but he just obeyed her obediently. His father said, "He should do whatever his sister told him to do."

Hua Yuanyuan said directly that she wanted to change the quilts of his father and his brother and let them cover themselves with new ones.

She thought the two would definitely refuse, but they were so happy that they lost their eyesight.

As happy as a child, he carefully touched the soft quilt and kept repeating, "It's so soft!"

A new quilt that has never been used is not soft.

I also took apart a quilt to make new cotton-padded jackets and trousers for my dad and younger brother.

Hua Youcai sat on the kang, drinking tea, eating raw radishes and peanuts, and watching his daughter busying herself on the kang.

Hua Fangfang was washing his father's and her own pillowcases, quilts and bed sheets on the ground. She even disliked her own sheets. Why were they so dirty?

The house is filled with the delicious smell of chicken soup, stewed in a big iron pot. It smells so good!

"Make the water hotter. Don't be reluctant to add hot water."

"Yeah, sis, I'm much older."

The stove was very hot and it was lit in a short while.

"Oh, Dad, Xiao Fang, I forgot to tell you that I have rented a house in Beijing. We will go there after the New Year."

Hua Yuanyuan didn't even raise her head, and she was sewing very quickly. Such a big thing was as easy as asking her brother to add more hot water.

Hua Youcai leaned against the wall and straightened his back. He glanced at his daughter and then at his son who was lying on the ground in a daze...

He quickly came to his senses and said, "Okay, girl, when are we leaving?"

She even winked at her son, but Hua Fangfang didn't understand what he meant.

He lowered his head and continued to do his own work. Anyway, at home, he either listened to his father or his sister.

My ears were perked up, and I wanted to ask his sister what Beijing was like, whether the house they lived in was the same, and whether the people in Beijing were all good-looking...

"Dad, you decide. I don't understand either."

"Okay, let's discuss this."

"Dad, Xiaofang, you two come with me first. If you don't get used to being outside, come back if you want. The land and house at home are still there..."
