Chapter 8 Demonic Power

"Magic Flower *13"

After escaping some distance, Lin Feng arrived at a safe area he had scouted out beforehand. He put down the weapon he was carrying, sat under a tree with thick roots, and looked at the magical flower in his hand, his breathing gradually slowing down.

Once his breathing had calmed down, he raised his hand and threw the magic flower he had been gazing at for so long into his mouth.

The Magic Flower tasted pretty good; the flower had a pulpy texture, which involuntarily reminded him of figs.

However, before the fruit could be completely swallowed, it immediately transformed into a surge of energy that enveloped his stomach and spread throughout his body.

"Demonic Power +5"

Two magic flowers can be converted into 10 points of demonic power, 13 flowers would be 65 points...

"Demon Power: 7"

After obtaining the specific data, Lin Feng rested for a long time until his physical attributes were fully restored before carrying a large pile of things towards the Elven Line.

Based on the direction the sergeant sent the goblins, Lin Feng naturally assumed that the direction of the Elwyn Line was the target of one of the teams.

As he approached the vicinity, the entire defensive line was already engulfed in flames. Before he could get a few steps closer, the treehouse, which was burning fiercely, collapsed, spreading a wave of heat in all directions.

After the heatwave, the tents inside were burned down, and the goblins knocked down all the relatively intact stone pillars until the entire defensive line was completely unrecognizable.

Upon closer inspection, only two Frost Goblins were on guard duty on the outer perimeter because they disliked fire, while five ordinary goblins were wandering along the road carrying flames, and two Fire Goblins were still searching around inside the defensive line.

The food is gone...

Lin Feng looked at the place where he had hidden the venison; the fire engulfed everything, dancing wildly.

"Demonic Power: 10"

After choosing a safe place to put down the weapons he had brought, Lin Feng rested for a few minutes to recover his strength before quietly approaching the two Frost Goblins.

The ever-growing fire drew their attention, and they didn't notice the figure crawling in the darkness silently appearing behind them. In a split second, two demonic claws appeared out of thin air, grabbing their heads from the left and right, creating the perfect opportunity for an attack.

The dagger pierced through the air with lightning speed, drawing two streaks of blood. Lin Feng forced a weary expression and hid the corpse in the darkness.

After nearly a day and a night of running around, even though his physical stats were still normal, he felt lethargic and craved sleep, food, and rest.

The feeling of mental exhaustion gradually became clear. Lin Feng gritted his teeth and looked at the two fire goblins in the fire. His mission was only missing the last two fire goblins, and he had to finish the mission tonight.

Blood dripped slowly from the tip of the dagger. Lin Feng swallowed two magic flowers in one gulp and suddenly felt the extra power within his body.

"Demonic Power: 11"

A strange feeling arose; the extra bit of demonic power was like a restless worm rapidly burrowing into his flesh and blood, eventually entering his heart.

Lin Feng was startled. Even though he had been prepared when choosing this skill, this sudden scene still made him frantically open his clothes to check.

The power of demons may seem powerful, but it's not a good thing. If it gets out of control, it can turn people into imposters! That is, they can be corrupted and degenerated by the power of demons, turning them into monsters who have lost their minds.

After a quick search, there was no change in his chest, and the value of his demonic power was still 11, as if the feeling he had just experienced was just an illusion.

But how could this be an illusion... Lin Feng breathed rapidly, touching his chest to feel his heartbeat, trying to suppress the overwhelming sense of confusion.

'No, that's not right. It's under control now. There must be a solution to the Nightmare Space!'

With his mind clearing immediately, Lin Feng stopped dwelling on it. The sudden tension also made him much more alert. He turned and approached the two fire goblins that were still frolicking inside the defensive line.

With only five ordinary goblins wandering around and spreading fires remaining inside the defensive line, Lin Feng hugged the weapons he had collected tightly and disappeared into the vicinity.

...

"Demonic Power: 10"

The next morning, Lin Feng woke up in a large tree near the Dark Forest. Looking at the demonic power that had returned to normal, his mood was still heavy. The 1 point was no longer a numerical value, but had become a part of his body.

Recalling the origins of the demonic power and the imposter, he didn't believe he could resist the erosion of demonic power with willpower alone; each of those bewitched devout believers was far stronger than him.

What is a common faith skill in the game is, for a normal person, a lifelong pursuit and an unbreakable will.

After his chaotic thoughts subsided, Lin Feng composed himself, swallowed a few more wild fruits, and continued walking towards the zombie area, still carrying his scimitar and short sword.

"Survival countdown: 3 days, 2 hours, and 18 minutes."

"Mission Two: Kill 14/10 regular goblins, 5/5 fire goblins, and 7/5 ice goblins."

"Mission 3: Kill 0/5 jungle zombies, 0/2 hungry zombies, and 0/1 Kalzak."

Nightmare Points: 53

Having reached the outskirts of the zombie zone, Lin Feng took stock of his spoils and laid out the items he had stored away, placing them one by one before him.

A pile of old clothes, a lady's dagger, a dozen or so spiky branches, a scimitar, two goblin short swords, a black wooden club, a log shield, four Molotov cocktails, ten magic flowers, and some wild strawberries.

A warm breeze blew by, and a thought flashed through Lin Feng's mind. He looked up at the sky.

A few white clouds drifted across the sky, but some dark clouds had already appeared in the distance, precisely from the direction from which the wind was blowing.

Food, rain, water...

You won't die from starvation for three days, but it's not a good thing.

After packing his things again, Lin Feng picked up the lady's dagger and the log shield and headed towards the Elven Line.

Last night's fire was reduced to a few scattered flames. The four goblin corpses were taken away, and wisps of smoke rose from the collapsed treehouse, with the occasional sound of cracking planks.

After glancing in the direction of the goblin settlement, Lin Feng quickly went inside to search for anything that could be used.

A plank, an iron fork, a piece of half-burnt venison, and a piece of unburnt embers.

...

After briefly circling the edge of the dark forest to conceal his tracks, Lin Feng carried the items back to the edge of the zombie area in two separate trips.

After searching again, he chose a slightly elevated hillside near a large tree, a little away from the zombie area, as his temporary shelter for the next few days.

After selecting the location, Linfeng Machinery spent nearly an hour digging until an "L"-shaped "hole" was dug under the tree.

Find some stones around the pit and place them around the edge, cover it with wooden planks, pile up the soil around the edge, and lay some weeds on top. This hidden and rainproof "shelter" is now complete.

After everything was over, Lin Feng looked at the sky. Several hours had passed, and the dark clouds in the sky had become exceptionally deep. It was expected to approach his location by the afternoon. He only hoped that the rain would not last too long or be too heavy.

Lin Feng placed the fire slightly inside the shelter, threw in a few pieces of wood to prevent it from going out, ate the half piece of venison, and then ate a few wild strawberries to replenish his water. He then slowly exhaled a long breath.

His grandfather was a forest ranger, and he had wandered in the mountains with him when he was a child, so he was no stranger to this kind of situation. But when he actually did it himself, he found that it was not as simple as he had seen it back then.

Fire, weapons, wild animals, food, weather, and the ever-present threat of disease...

Fortunately, the situation isn't that bad; concentrating his current advantages will actually be beneficial for him.

Gradually, his body regained some warmth. After eating another wild fruit, Lin Feng got up and collected branches, carrying them back in bundles and placing them under a large tree nearby in a spot where they would be least likely to get wet in the rain.

After a brief rest, Lin Feng put on two layers of clothing, donned protective gear, picked up a short dagger and a wooden shield, attached the magic flower, and headed towards the dead zone where the zombies were.

A chill swept over him; the moment his warm body stepped inside, the sudden coldness in the air, like insects, frantically seeped into the gaps in his clothes.

Lin Feng stopped in his tracks and immediately ducked behind a fallen tree.

A black zombie, its flesh rotting and falling, crawled up from a distance, limped a few steps forward, and then collapsed back onto the black ground.

"Rotting Zombie"

A reminder flashed in Lin Feng's eyes. Some soil had accidentally gotten into his shoes, and a strange sensation came over him, leaving patches of black marks on his skin.

This area is very strange; not only are there zombies, but the land itself seems to harbor something bizarre.

After choosing a new direction, Lin Feng used the shelter as a starting point to explore the surrounding area in a semi-circle before finally retreating.

On the left, he found some collapsed buildings where many black zombies were wandering around. Some of them still had their clothes intact, and several zombies inside the buildings were wearing relatively intact leather armor. If he could get his hands on them, they would be of great help to him later.

On the other side, he discovered blue zombies. These zombies were not very decomposed, their skin was tightly bound to their bones, and they moved at a speed very close to that of a normal human.

"Jungle Zombies"

Among these jungle zombies, he found another monster required for the mission: a red-skinned, hungry zombie with black eyes and a withered face.
