Chapter 67: Making Trouble

Early the next morning, the Zhang family began to move things into the car while there were not many people in the community.

Zhang Wenyu simply packed a few books and gifts from some friends. Zhang Jingzhi was holding a big box with clothes, textbooks, dolls, basketballs, etc. piled up in a mess.

Zhang Wenyu and his brother put the things in the car and went upstairs to help their parents move. As soon as they opened the door, they saw Zhang's father and mother carrying an old cabinet and trying to move it downstairs.

Zhang Wenyu was startled and quickly stepped forward to persuade him.

"Why did you move it out? This cabinet is older than me! There are so many cabinets in the new house, more than enough for us to use. Let's just leave it at home."

When Zhang's mother and father thought of the rows of exquisite and elegant cabinets in the new house, and then looked at the wooden cabinets covered with the children's paintings, they really felt that they did not match the new house, so they had to put them down.

Mother Zhang touched the cabinet and said reluctantly.

"This cabinet was specially made for me by your grandfather when your father and I got married. Even though the style is old, it's made of solid wood, which is much better than the furniture you can buy on the market now!"

Zhang Wenyu looked at the cabinet that had been with her family for more than 20 years. Many childhood memories of her and her brother were left on it. However, the cabinet was heavy and large, and it was not suitable for Wang to move into the villa.

Not only this cabinet, but other large items do not need to be moved. The villa is fully furnished with furniture and appliances. You just need to pick a few personal items that you need for daily use and take them with you.

In the end, the few people picked and chose and took away only a few pieces of clothes and a few small items that they were already familiar with.

After putting the things down, Zhang Wenyu took his family to the mall for a stroll, bought some household items and had them delivered to the villa, and then the family returned home.

I just got home and heard a loud noise before I even went upstairs.

At the gate, an old lady was pointing at the door and cursing.

This old lady was none other than their biased grandmother.

When Grandma Zhang saw that the crying and shouting had attracted all the neighbors, she sat down on the ground, slapped her thighs with her hands, and cried with her mouth open.

"Why is my life so miserable? My husband passed away long ago, leaving me alone with three children. I worked so hard to raise them, only to have an unfilial son who doesn't want me anymore! Neighbors, please give me some advice. My youngest son abandoned me at his eldest brother's house, neglecting me and not providing for my old age, while his own family enjoys the best of life. How can this be justified?"

When Zhang's father saw his mother sitting on the ground and throwing a tantrum, accusing him of being unfilial in front of the neighbors and children, he felt embarrassed and blushed with shame. He hurried forward to support his old mother.

"Mom, why are you here? Let's go home and talk about it. Don't disturb the neighbors."

When the old lady of the Zhang family saw her youngest son and his family coming back, she shouted even louder. When she saw her youngest son trying to come forward to support her, she pushed his hand away and stood up on her own.

He wiped his hands across his face twice, wiping away the sweat from his head from yelling. Then he slapped his youngest son, who was standing in front of him, bent over with a red face, twice, and started cursing.

"You ungrateful bastard! I worked so hard to raise you, and this is how you repay me! Last time I asked you for money, you said you had none, and now you're buying that loser a car! What? You have money to buy that loser a car, but you don't have money to support your mother in her old age?!"

The barrage of curses forced Zhang's father to retreat again and again. He looked at his mother with pleading eyes, trying to get her to stop making trouble at the door.

Grandma Zhang was not someone who would feel sorry for Zhang's father. Seeing that Zhang's father cared about his reputation and refused to go into the house, she insisted on making a big fuss outside. Seeing that Zhang's father was being scolded but was timid and dared not say a word, she gave orders with great complacency.

"Hurry up and give me all the money in your family so you don't have to waste it! And give that car to your eldest brother as soon as possible. Are you crazy? She's a little girl who will get married sooner or later, why are you buying her a car?! You care about your daughter, but don't you care about your eldest brother? Your eldest brother doesn't even have such a nice car, and she, a little girl, drives one first! You'd better spend this money on your eldest brother's family. Your family can live a good life, but your brother's family and I are still suffering!"

Zhang's father was deeply distressed. He knew his mother was partial, not only to his eldest brother but also to his younger sister. But his father died when he was fifteen, and his mother had been the sole breadwinner of the family ever since. Life had been tough for his mother, and he always tried to be accommodating to her, to avoid upsetting her. So, even when his mother constantly asked him for money to support his eldest brother's family, he didn't say anything.

Asking him for money is fine, but the car was bought by his daughter. How could he give his daughter's hard-earned money to his eldest brother? And then he insulted the child by calling her a money-loser. How could his mother be so partial? Wenwen is her granddaughter after all!

When Zhang's mother heard that the old lady dared to take her daughter's car, she couldn't stand it anymore.

She usually said that she lived with the eldest son so her family had to pay more money, but she thought that the old lady was her husband's mother after all, so she endured it.

Later, she said that the eldest family member could not go out to work to take care of her, so her family should help her eldest brother's family more and send money and gifts to her eldest brother's family. She endured it because she thought that he was her husband's brother.

But now her child is being plotted against, and she absolutely cannot tolerate it!

Mother Zhang stepped forward and pushed Father Zhang away, looking at the unreasonable old lady and said firmly.

"Don't even think about bullying my child! I'm telling you, there's no money for him, and no car for him either!"

Then he pointed at the eldest brother and his family who were standing behind the old lady and had succeeded in their deeds and cursed them.

"Zhang Hua, you are really something! As the child's uncle, you are actually trying to steal the car that your own niece worked hard to buy. Do you have any shame?"

When Mrs. Zhang saw Zhang's mother scolding her beloved son, she instantly became furious and rushed over to hit Zhang's mother.

"Hey, Ding, are you planning a rebellion? Zhang Hao! Are you a dead man? Are you just going to watch this woman scold your brother?!"

Zhang Jingzhi and Zhang Wenyu were afraid that Zhang's mother would suffer, so they rushed forward to protect her.

Father Zhang hugged old lady Zhang and pulled her aside, trying to separate the fighting parties.

"Stop fighting! Stop fighting!"

The neighbors also rushed forward to separate the two, but Zhang Hua's family quietly hid behind, fearing that they would be affected by the furious old lady Zhang and Zhang's mother.

With the help of the neighbors, the two sides were quickly separated.

Father Zhang looked at his embarrassed mother and wife, and squatted in the corner with his head in his hands.

Seeing the two sides being pulled apart, Zhang Hua came forward again. With a distressed look on his face, he held Mrs. Zhang's arm and spoke to Zhang Hao, who was huddled in the corner.

"Zhang Hao! Mom came to see you out of kindness, and this is how you treat her? It's fine you don't respect me as your big brother, but you don't even care about Mom! You even let your wife and children beat Mom up. Mom's already so old, if something goes wrong, do you think you can live with your conscience?!"
