Chapter 124 Will You Be My Mother?

Having just regained some strength, the group mustered their spirits and became more wary.

Xia Chuhe looked at A Bao and gestured with his chin toward the strange man: "Go and try asking him for the props."

Ah Bao was one of the most stubborn ones, but she lay back down after a while.

Ah Bao brazenly reached out and said, "Things," his voice full of self-righteousness despite his lack of conviction.

The strange man turned his head and covered the crack in his waist, a gesture of complete resistance.

Ah Bao pointed at the iron bucket, the roadside angelica, and the gap-toothed man at the roadblock: "They all have them, why don't I?!"

The strange man waved his hand to drive away Ah Bao.

Tiny tentacles were faintly visible on the strange man's fingertips and from the cracks in his waist.

Du Zhen pulled A Bao back and glared at Xia Chuhe: "Stop instigating her."

Xia Chuhe shrugged, indicating his innocence. Trying wouldn't hurt him; as long as Ah Bao didn't do anything rash, the strange man seemed quite easy to talk to.

The strange man imitated Little Three Flowers, squatting on the ground and slowly raising both hands to the top of his head, making a cat-ear gesture.

Ah Bao's eyes narrowed, and he broke free from Du Zhen's grasp. Baring his teeth, he charged forward and snatched the little calico cat away, shouting, "This is my cat!"

Du Zhen pulled her and Xiao Sanhua back again; she had been walking fast and her leg was limping a little.

Xia Chuhe felt that the strange man's movements looked familiar, very much like the classic moves of the catgirl.

Is this weirdo trying to do cosplay?

Xia Chuhe pointed at the little calico: "Do you want to be like it?"

The strange man nodded slowly.

Xia Chuhe directed her teammates to find vines. She took out the gray work clothes she had collected from the Nuwa Factory from the farm and cut them into large pieces of cloth and small strips.

Lu Danggui quickly found some grapevines.

Xia Chuhe selected rattan of suitable thickness, and following the cute pose of the little calico cat, burned and bent the rattan into a suitable angle. Then, he completely wrapped the rattan with scraps of cloth and a whole cloth to make a simple cat tail.

Xia Chuhe also carefully burned the ends of the cloth strips black, making them stand out from the crowd.

After tying the cat's tail around the strange man's waist, Xia Chuhe took the opportunity to carefully examine the gap at the man's waist. The gap was pitch black, as if a viscous, dark liquid was constantly flowing inside.

Xia Chuhe then used grapevines and strips of cloth to make a bizarre cat-ear headband for the strange man; it was ugly and weird beyond belief.

The strange man liked it very much, and with it on his head, he was too afraid to move.

The strange man conjured a helmet extremely slowly and handed it to Xia Chuhe.

It looks like a rugby zombie helmet...

After getting the cat outfit he wanted, the strange man left satisfied.

Xia Chuhe summarized the known ways to obtain items: you can get items from the monster by winning the favor of the monster king or by working in the botanical garden; there is a certain chance of finding items.

As night fell, the three teams of corpses, who had worked hard all day, had harvested enough soil to cover the seeds.

Because Xia Chuhe deliberately balanced the ratio of soil and water when collecting plants, the soil she created was the most suitable for seed germination.

Considering that a bunch of plants would sprout in the pot at night, Xia Chuhe didn't dare to plant all the seeds in the soil. She only put the seeds that she had soaked in a water bottle for testing into the flowerpot.

That night, the group didn't stay in the basement. Instead, after settling the flowerpots and seeds, they all stayed far away from the basement.

Xia Chuhe, feeling very uneasy, placed the iron fence over the spot in the basement where the ceiling was missing.

Because of the common, invincible enemy, the three teams did not engage in internal strife, but instead tacitly came together.

Old Qin changed the dressing on Du Zhen's leg wound.

Du Zhen's wound, which was a normal penetrating wound in the morning, has now become completely ulcerated, and the shinbone is clearly visible.

Old Qin was worried; if things continued like this, Du Zhen's leg might be beyond saving. Even if they managed to return to the base safely, it would cost a large amount of points.

Du Zhen didn't care much; as long as he could get out of the instance alive, everything was fine.

She closed her eyes and pretended to sleep, when suddenly she heard a soft, weak call: "Mom."

Du Zhen opened his eyes, hesitated, and glanced around at the people around him before finally fixing his gaze on Xia Chuhe: "You called me?"

Xia Chuhe: "??? No???"

Du Zhen hesitated and said, "Perhaps I misheard."

Perhaps the pressure was too great, Du Zhen made excuses for himself.

She needed to get some sleep before the plants went wild tonight. Du Zhen closed her eyes again, and she heard that call again: "Mom."

This time, Du Zhen was certain the voice wasn't coming from anyone around her. She opened her eyes, but the voice still wouldn't let her go: "Mommy, will you be my mommy?"

Although she didn't know where the voice came from, Du Zhen stuck to her thoughts: "I don't want to be your mother."

She didn't deliberately lower her voice, but her teammates seemed not to hear her at all and didn't react.

The voice said, "Oh, you don't want to be my mother... then go die!"

A sharp, intense pain suddenly shot through Du Zhen's leg wound: "Ah!"

"Ah Zhen, Ah Zhen, wake up? What's wrong?"

Du Zhen opened her eyes. A Bao and Lao Qin looked at her with concern, while Xia Chuhe and the others also curiously focused their gaze on her.

Was everything just a dream?

The wound on his leg throbbed with pain, and Du Zhen subconsciously used his desensitization ability to alleviate the pain.

She glanced at the gap-toothed man and the others not far away, and forced a smile: "I'm fine, just a little tired."

As soon as Du Zhen finished speaking, the surrounding plants suddenly came to life, each transforming into a sheepdog, herding everyone towards the basement like shepherds.

Various plant vines intertwined, weaving a net that covered three sides, leaving only one direction for the group. The net kept shrinking towards the basement, and the group had no way to resist.
