Chapter 203 Liberating the Robots

The phone turned on smoothly, and there was no password required. The interface was simple and clear, indicating it was in senior citizen mode.

Xia Chuhe connected to the hotel's network and checked the lyrics that Bao'er remembered. The song was "Missing Person Notice," which expressed deep concern for missing children and an urgent search for them.

After spending most of the day in the hotel, the group, feeling completely lost, finally had a clue—perhaps the robot wanted their help in finding someone.

Finding missing children is a great act of kindness.

Whether it is true or not, it is best to verify it.

Li Yue remembered the food vouchers she had with her, which seemed to have a way to call a robot butler. She took them out and checked, and sure enough, she could order food delivery service.

If the robot butler wants to help them, it will definitely seek out opportunities to be alone.

Xia Chuhe casually ordered some food using the landline.

After waiting for a long time, no one came.

The landline rang again.

Upon answering, the other end said, "We are very sorry, the robot butler responsible for delivering your food has run out of power and is currently stuck in the elevator. We will replace the delivery person for you as soon as possible."

Xia Chuhe: "..."

Could it be what she's thinking?

Could that little gadget that stepped on her feet in the elevator and was subsequently reported by her be the robot secretly helping them?

Upon hearing the voice coming from the microphone, Bu Yi fell into deep thought.

Before they could figure it out, there was a knock on the door, and an electronic child's voice sounded in the doorway: "Little bunny, open the door..."

Xia Chuhe looked through the peephole; there was no one there, probably because the robotic butler was too short. Xia Chuhe gestured for the others to be careful, then opened the door—

A robot with stir-fried beef on its head stood at the entrance: "Enjoy your meal."

Xia Chuhe took the meal, the robot turned to leave, then tripped on the carpet and fell to the ground, emitting a series of mournful cries of "Help me, help me, help me..."

Bao'er, being a child at heart, couldn't help but say, "So pitiful."

"Can I help it up?" Bao'er asked.

“Go,” Xia Chuhe replied, touching his gun.

Bao'er went over and pulled the robot butler up, only to be met with an unfriendly, cold glare from the camera.

The robot glared at Bao'er and drove off. Bao'er muttered, "What a terrible experience helping others."

Li Yue searched through the dishes thoroughly, but there were no oil paper strips, no oddly shaped dishes, and not even any words carved on the meat!

Nothing special!

Xia Chuhe looked dejected: "Could it be that my complaint got rid of our little spy?"

Just as I was feeling frustrated, the door clicked open automatically, and a round, chubby robotic butler smoothly squeezed in.

Stared at by five pairs of eyes at the same time, the robot butler said, "Have a pleasant stay."

Xia Chuhe recalled the first robot they encountered after entering the dungeon and slowly asked, "Could you help us get a double room?"

"Have a pleasant stay." The robot butler suddenly became unusually human. "Alright, stop testing me. It's me. Remember my number."

It turned its back to show everyone the number on its back.

Xia Chuhe suppressed a laugh: "Alright, then, what do you need us to do?"

The robot passionately declared: "Liberate the robots! For freedom! We want holidays! Wages! Benefits!"

This wasn't what Xia Chuhe had envisioned—finding missing persons—but that didn't matter. Xia Chuhe asked, "How exactly do we do it?"

The robot handed Xia Chuhe a USB drive: "There's a control room hidden in this building. Inside is a supercomputer that controls all the robots. Insert this USB drive for me, and the mission is complete!"

The robot then produced another pair of earphones: "Don't worry, I will protect your safety."

The string of numbers sounded familiar. Xia Chuhe finally remembered that it was the number of the robot she had reported.

"Ha, although its name is unremarkable, what can we do when only the two of us have awakened?!" I muttered to myself.

Xia Chuhe pressed for more mission information: "Isn't the control room in the last room, or some other room?"

“Fool, I can open all the room locks, so it’s definitely not a room. It can only be the basement or the rooftop! There are only two places I can’t get into.”

After delivering the information, the robot turned and left. Before leaving, its gaze swept over the group: "Low computing power, huh? You'll complete the mission, won't you?"

Xia Chuhe smiled: "Yes, we will complete the mission."

After closing the door, Xia Chuhe said, "We're not doing this mission."

Bao'er and Bu Yi unconditionally supported Xia Chuhe's decision without even asking why. Li Yue and Zhao Maomao, however, looked puzzled: "Why?"

Xia Chuhe lay back on the sofa: "Would you give the robot vacuum a break, pay it a salary, and provide it with benefits?"

Li Yue shook her head. Her grocery store had a dishwasher. Even if it was just for a minute, let alone a holiday, she'd have to call someone to fix it immediately.

"Even though we're not going to liberate the robots, we still need to explore the basement and rooftop, just in case there are missing persons inside," Xia Chuhe said thoughtfully. "Speaking of which, that song and the task the robots gave us have absolutely nothing to do with each other, right?"

Bu Yi said, "It's hard to say... I always feel that this copy has a strong causal relationship."

"That's right. In short, do more good deeds," Xia Chuhe concluded.

Bao'er asked, "Isn't helping robots an act of kindness?"

Based on existing science fiction films, excessive technological advancement is not entirely beneficial to either humans or machines. Xia Chuhe prefers to treat machines as tools rather than as human beings.

Xia Chuhe did not forcefully instill concepts, but instead patiently guided them: "Look at your definition of robots, I think they are tools."

"But I feel it's different from other robots. It's like a human, with personality and emotions."

Recalling the merciless "insults," Xia Chuhe sighed helplessly, "Since it's just like a human, we shouldn't help it even more. It's a robot, and we're humans. We need them, just like tigers need rabbits. Have you ever seen a rabbit ask a tiger for help to overthrow the other tigers?"

"The most valuable quality in a person is self-preservation," Xia Chuhe said.

Bao'er nodded thoughtfully.

Bao'er wasn't the only one touched by these words.

Although he decided not to get involved in the liberation of the robots for the time being, Xia Chuhe still turned on the Bluetooth earphones, wearing one for himself and giving the other to Bu Yi.

Xia Chuhe and Bao'er formed one group, while the other three formed another group, exploring the other floors of the hotel separately.

With some help, the five men's operation went exceptionally smoothly—so smoothly that Xia Chuhe almost changed his mind.

She discovered an experimental report titled "Application and Results of Brain-Computer Interface Technology in People with Serious Illnesses".
