Chapter 214 A Parting

As the group was squatting by the barbecue grill skewering meat, two grilled eggs suddenly burst open, splattering yolk all over Zhao Maomao and Wang Yan's heads and faces.

Xia Chuhe couldn't help but laugh, and turned down the heat with a hearty laugh: "Sorry, sorry, it's my first time baking eggs, I didn't get the heat right."

Lu Dangui pursed his lips, a faint smile playing on his lips; Bu Yi stroked the stubble on his head and grinned foolishly; Li Yue grinned from ear to ear; Zhu Guanshan laughed until tears streamed down his face, wiping his eyes with his hand and then dabbing some marinade into the corners of his eyes, shouting and laughing all the while; Li Qiusheng also temporarily forgot the little secret he had overheard earlier and laughed heartily; Wang Yan and Zhao Maomao looked at each other with wry smiles, then burst into laughter.

Bao'er ran back, not knowing what everyone was laughing at, but she laughed along, holding up the cloth bag that had shrunk considerably: "I brought back the dried meat and fresh mushrooms that my older sisters and brothers gave me!"

Xia Chuhe hurriedly grabbed two basins and took out a small water purifier. He gave one basin of water to Wang Yan and Zhao Maomao, and the other to Bao'er: "You two go wash your hair, and you go wash the mushrooms!"

When the two of them came back after washing up, the roasted eggs were almost cooked, which made room for the mushrooms.

Nine people sat around the barbecue grill, happily eating meat, drinking water, and munching on corn, their lips gleaming with the aroma of the food and their fingers blackened with soot.

After a satisfying meal, everyone felt a slight drowsiness and weariness.

Xia Chuhe tidied up his things casually, washed his hands, and said with a smile, "There's something else I need to tell everyone tonight. Mao Mao was seriously injured in this dungeon and needs to rest for a while. He won't be traveling with us for the rest of the journey."

Everyone was taken aback, even Zhao Maomao was stunned for a moment before he realized that the boss was saving face for him. Otherwise, deserting would be a dishonorable act.

Bu Yi and Li Yue knew that Zhao Maomao's injuries had almost healed, and Xia Chuhe must have had her reasons for saying that; Li Qiusheng had already overheard the truth; Lu Dangui didn't care much about it; Zhu Guanshan wasn't familiar with him.

Only Wang Yan, seemingly oblivious, asked, "What type of injury do you have? I still have some medicine left."

Li Qiusheng couldn't help but pat Wang Yan on the shoulder, wondering to himself: Am I usually as silly as Wang Yan?

Xia Chuhe took in the interaction between the two and joked, "A broken heart is hard to heal. Alright, let's get some rest. We have to keep going tomorrow."
