Chapter 23 Contract

Xia Chuhe certainly wouldn't risk his life now.

But Xia Chuhe changed his mind when he saw the butler's silver cufflinks.

The pattern on the cufflinks matches the pattern on the sachet.

What is the relationship between the housekeeper and her parents?

Xia Chuhe decided to get in touch with the housekeeper to find more clues about her parents.

Xia Chuhe said, "I'll consider it, if the points are high enough."

The housekeeper smiled slightly. "The company has no shortage of points. Let's add Fetion first."

Inside the base, the lights were as bright as day, making skin appear slightly pale.

As Lu Dangui left Sister Li's food shop, her face darkened: "You're short on points? I'll give you some, I have points, lots of points."

"It's not for the points, I just think that dungeon is quite interesting, I might consider checking it out," Xia Chuhe said. "You don't need to follow me around doing everything, don't you have that... friend who helps you save up points?"

Lu Dangui frowned: "If you go, I'll go too."

Xia Bao'er followed closely behind: "I want to go too."

"No, Bao'er, you're not allowed to go. I'll pack your mother's suitcase later, and you can take anything you don't need to the recycling point to sell. I'll save the points you get."

Xia Chuhe didn't know how to deal with Lu Dangui, so she carefully chose her words: "We are not fixed teammates, you can have your own life."

Lu Dangui insisted: "I want to be your regular teammate. I'm not going because of you."

She used Xia Chuhe's words to brush him off: "I also think that dungeon is quite interesting."

Xia Chuhe sighed helplessly and let her be.

However, having a fixed teammate is definitely something to consider. So far, the person Xia Chuhe trusts most in the wasteland is Lu Dangui.

Back at the hotel, Xia Chuhe took out two boxes left by Xia Bao'er's mother from the farm.

The box wasn't locked; you could open it directly.

The first box contained clothes, new fabric, which felt very comfortable to the touch.

Xia Bao'er looked through the clothes one by one, from children's clothes for five or six-year-olds to women's clothes for twelve or thirteen-year-olds, and then to clothes for adults.

The largest size is even big enough for Xia Chuhe, who is over 1.7 meters tall.

Dozens of clothes of varying thicknesses were piled up in a whole box.

The second box was a mess, containing all sorts of odds and ends.

Rattles, tiger-head shoes, small blankets, pendants, ornaments and jewelry of various materials...

Xia Bao'er raised her head, her eyes clear: "Sister, can I go back to the world of ice and snow? Is Mom still waiting for me there?"

Xia Chuhe's heart softened.

How is she going to explain death to her child?

She couldn't even tell Xia Bao'er that her mother had become a star in the sky, forever by Bao'er's side.

Because you can't see stars in the wasteland.

Xia Chuhe thought for a moment and said, "We won't go back to the Ice and Snow World, but Mom will always be with you."

Xia Chuhe pulled out a strand of hair: "Look, we humans are made up of hair, flesh, skin, eyes... Do you know what hair and flesh are made of?"

Xia Bao'er plucked a strand of her own hair, examined it closely, and touched it repeatedly: "I don't know, it was too small, I don't recognize it."

"It's made up of tiny, tiny particles, so tiny we can't see them. I'm made of particles, Bao'er is, and so is Mommy. Even the water we drink, the nutritional supplements we eat... they're all made of particles. Do you know what that means?"

Bao'er shook her head; she didn't quite understand what Sister Xia was saying.

"This means that Bao'er's mother is right beside Bao'er. She is in the light, in the water, and in the air. She is always with Bao'er, but Bao'er can't see her."

Bao'er understood what he meant.

A big smile spread across her face: "Sister Xia knows a lot of things. When I grow up, will I understand? Will I be able to see my mother then?"

Xia Chuhe choked up; she was indeed not suited to taking care of children.

Xia Chuhe nodded and smiled: "Yes, I'll wait until you grow up."

When you grow up, you will understand what death is and what love is.

I understand that even if my mother dies, she will still love me.

Bao'er pointed to the first box: "These clothes can be worn by Sister Xia and Sister Lu. We should keep them."

Bao'er pointed to the second box: "These are useless, Sister Xia, help me sell them."

Xia Chuhe packed up the two boxes, deciding not to touch Bao'er's mother's belongings.

"Keep it for now," Xia Chuhe said.

Bao'er picked at her hands for a while before asking in a low voice, "Then, do I not have any points to go to school?"

"Yes, Bao'er has a lot of points, which your mom has deposited with me. It's more than enough for Bao'er to eat, go to school, and grow up!"

After comforting Bao'er, Xia Chuhe followed Sister Li's advice and found the junior manager of the base to process Bao'er's enrollment for tomorrow.

After finishing up at school, Xia Chuhe sent a message to Du Zhen: "Aunt Du, I'm going to run a dungeon in a few days. If I don't contact you in ten days, could you please send Bao'er to the base's nursery for me?"

Du Zhen: "Okay, but! Don't call me 'Mom Du' again!!!" (Frustrated/hysterical)

Xia Chuhe: "Okay ヽ( ̄▽ ̄)? Well-behaved.jpg"

After dealing with Bao'er's matter, Xia Chuhe set about building a mill on the farm.

Drag the mill icon onto the farm. After spending 50,000 points, a foundation will appear on the farm.

Xia Chuhe clicked on it, and it showed - Under Construction 23h59min.

It seems the mill could be built even before the wheat ripens.

There were four empty plots of land on the farm, and Xia Chuhe was eager to try planting corn and soybean seeds. However, with Lu Dangui by her side, she didn't plant them directly.
