The staff pulled them up together, and while they were unbuckling their seatbelts, Xia Chuhe explained the meaning of the suspension bridge effect to Mingxiang.
Mingxiang said thoughtfully, "It was just my imagination, then I'm relieved."
Xia Chuhe sensed something was off about Mingxiang's words: "What do you mean?"
Mingxiang looked completely innocent: "It's just the literal meaning. Does Manager Xia also need me to memorize the definition of illusion?"
Xia Chuhe was certain that Ming Xiang had done it on purpose. This guy was a jerk; she didn't want to deal with him.
Xia Chuhe unbuckled his seatbelt and turned to leave.
Mingxiang followed behind her, persistently asking, "Manager Xia, which activity are you going to do? Can I come with you?"
Xia Chuhe: "No."
...
Half an hour later, the two boarded the same paraglider.
Xia Chuhe looked at him incredulously: "This is my first time flying, are you sure you can do it?"
Mingxiang had his coach's certificate hanging around his neck and a beaming smile on his face.
A staff member nearby said, "Coach Ming has the most extensive flying experience in the park. The park director has tried many times to invite him to work full-time, but he has refused."
Xia Chuhe: "..."
It's a bit weird.
Even after she and Mingxiang took to the air with the mountain wind, Xia Chuhe still felt something was off. How did she end up flying alone with Mingxiang?
A mountain breeze was blowing, the sun was shining brightly, and the scenery on the ground was laid out in its entirety.
Xia Chuhe raised her hand to shield her face, which was burning hot from the sun, and said with a look of utter despair, "I want to go down."
Floating in the sky, it's beautiful, but after a while, it gets a bit boring.
Paragliding is not fast, and there is almost no feeling of weightlessness. Xia Chuhe, who just came from bungee jumping, did not experience any thrill at all.
Mingxiang still smiled and said, "The weather was perfect today, with a favorable wind making the journey quite smooth."
In layman's terms, it means "It's windy, it will take some time to get down."
After a while, the wind still showed no signs of stopping.
"We've drifted out of the scenic area. Will we be able to go back later?" Xia Chuhe asked weakly.
Mingxiang laughed and said, "Don't worry, the paragliders in the scenic area are equipped with GPS trackers that can upload their tracks, so we won't get lost."
As he spoke, Mingxiang touched the side of the paraglider, his smile freezing: "I took off too quickly, I think I forgot to check the GPS."
Xia Chuhe closed his eyes. He really was an unreliable idiot.
Mingxiang fidgeted, fumbling for his equipment, causing his seat to wobble. Xia Chuhe instinctively gripped both sides tightly: "Don't move!"
Mingxiang touched the locator: "Found it, didn't forget the equipment."
The temperature was low at high altitudes, and Mingxiang's warm breath brushed against Xia Chuhe's ear. With nowhere to hide in the air, Xia Chuhe turned her head away uncomfortably.
"The wind seems to have died down a bit."
“Yes,” Mingxiang agreed. “I’ll remind you when we’re landing that there can be occasional dangers. I hope we can land in a good place.”
Xia Chuhe glared at Ming Xiang and inadvertently noticed that his face was delicate and his appearance was well-behaved, with no sense of aggression.
For some reason, I have a feeling that it's ridiculously stupid.
Thinking of this statement, Xia Chuhe smiled.
Mingxiang was focused on maneuvering the paraglider and didn't notice her smile.
Unfortunately, the weather turned against them. Despite Mingxiang's best efforts to control it, the umbrella still drifted towards the forest.
Mingxiang reminded Xia Chuhe: "Be careful, we're about to land. I'll have us try to avoid the trees, so remember to stick your legs up."
Xia Chuhe had already listened to the precautions for takeoff and landing before takeoff.
Following the instructions, the landing proceeded without any unexpected issues.
Mingxiang puts away his umbrella, while Xia Chuhe looks at the map.
Xia Chuhe: "There's no signal, and the map won't load."
A sense of unease lingered in Xia Chuhe's mind again; she felt as if she had some kind of signal transmitter on her body.
Why is there no signal?
"How come there's no signal?" Mingxiang asked.
After putting away the umbrella, Mingxiang glanced at his phone: "It's okay, I have an offline map. Let me find the route."
Mingxiang planned a route on the offline map: "It will take at most an hour to get to a place with a signal."
The plan was good, but unfortunately, things didn't go as planned.
The two walked through the forest for less than ten minutes, their steps uneven, when a light drizzle began to fall.
Xia Chuhe wanted to get to a safe place as soon as possible: "I can still hold on."
Mingxiang followed silently.
The drizzle turned into a torrential downpour in the blink of an eye.
Xia Chuhe cursed the heavens in her heart: "I went out to check the weather today, and it was supposed to be a sunny day!"
Mingxiang pointed towards the mountainside: "The mountain here is very solid, let's go down there to take shelter from the rain!"
Xia Chuhe had no other choice but to do as Mingxiang said. Fortunately, the two of them were lucky; after walking along the mountain wall for a while, they came across a cave.
Mingxiang threw a few stones into the cave to confirm that no wild animals lived inside. Only then did he take out a lighter from his bag and use the remaining dry branches and leaves in the cave to start a fire.
Xia Chuhe huddled beside the fire, using the residual heat to dry her clothes. Occasionally, a cold wind would blow into the cave, making her shiver.
Just moments ago, the clear blue sky offered a sense of freedom, but in the blink of an eye, it turned into a torrential downpour, leaving one helpless and alone. Everything happened as fast as a dream.
As Xia Chuhe was lamenting the impermanence of life, a piece of chocolate suddenly appeared in front of him.
Mingxiang: "Let's eat something to warm up. The park staff have discovered the location service is down, so they should be able to find us soon."
Xia Chuhe accepted the chocolate without hesitation: "You've prepared quite a lot of things."
It's a lighter and a chocolate.
Mingxiang's bag was bulging, so he must have a lot of emergency supplies.
