Chapter 346 Disordered Memories (Part Six)

Xia Chuhe quickly stepped back and covered the high school student's mouth: "I know, don't say it out loud."

After reading the rules card, the man in the hoodie lowered his hand from his face, his eyes gleaming eerily in the blue light of the computer screen.

He exclaimed excitedly, "The game has started, right? I know who the ghost is! Everyone, hold on for ten minutes, and when it's our turn to catch the ghost, we'll all throw it out together! The ghost is—"

Suddenly, a large, bluish-gray hand reached out from the screen, grabbed the man in the hoodie by the neck, and dug deep into his throat and one of his arteries.

Blood spurted from the man in the hoodie's neck, spraying onto the computer screen and almost completely obscuring the blue display.

The ghost hand disappeared.

The man in the hoodie groaned, unable to speak, and tried to raise his hand but had completely lost his strength.

His gaze finally settled on Xia Chuhe, as if pleading for help, or perhaps accusing him.

However, Xia Chuhe had no other choice.

The ghost was moving too fast; it was impossible to stop it.

Even if Xia Chuhe had the chance to stop her, she wouldn't have.

Because the current game segment is about ghosts catching people, the man in the hoodie appears to have died from having his throat ripped out, but in reality, he died from being caught by a ghost.

If you rashly try to stop it and the ghost touches you, even if it doesn't hit a fatal spot, you might still die.

Xia Chuhe wouldn't take such a risk until he was absolutely certain that his high school version of himself was safe.

However, Xia Chuhe had to admit that she had indeed been careless.

She should have set up the prop firewall the moment the man in the hoodie uttered his first words.

The high school students were terrified.

She had no memory of fires or floods; this was the first time she had ever actually seen a dead person.

Xia Chuhe squeezed her hand to comfort her. Then she pushed the high school student in front of a computer and set up a firewall.

Mr. Dai, always eager for drama, exclaimed, "Hey, he's looking at you! You're not a ghost, are you?"

Xia Chuhe did not answer his question, but pointed to the seat where a high school student was sitting: "My prop can protect everyone. I assure you, this computer will not be attacked by ghosts."

"Hmph—is it possible that because you're a ghost, you can choose which computer not to attack?" Mr. Dai said.

“If I were a ghost, you would be dead by now.” Xia Chuhe pointed to the computer right behind Mr. Dai. “Speaking of who is more likely to be a ghost, as the game creator, you are more likely than any of us.”

"Stop arguing, it's not time to vote yet." A high school student huddled tightly in the seat Xia Chuhe had arranged for her, holding a blood-stained card in her hand.

A ghostly hand suddenly emerged from the computer screen opposite and lunged straight at the high school student's neck.

The computers in the internet cafe are arranged in pairs facing each other. Xia Chuhe's firewall can protect one computer from the ghost hand's attack, but it can't protect two computers at the same time. As long as the ghost hand is long enough, it will definitely be able to catch the high school version of Xia Chuhe.

Xia Chuhe no longer cared about the danger of being caught by ghosts. He rushed forward without hesitation, pushed the chair that a high school student was sitting on, and hid in a corner.

She was very strong, and in her rampage, she pushed the chair all the way to the innermost position.

There's a protruding wall in this area, which takes up some space, allowing only one computer to be placed here. Combined with Xia Chuhe's firewall, it forms a secure zone.

"What will we do if you leave?!" The plaid shirt was terrified after seeing the ghost hand repeatedly. Driven by a need for security, he immediately switched sides to Xia Chuhe.

“I will protect you, walk over slowly.” Xia Chuhe gave the plaid shirt a reassuring look.

The plaid shirt understood Xia Chuhe's meaning; she would enable the firewall for different computers according to her location.

The plaid shirt walked forward cautiously.

But he didn't know that Xia Chuhe was lying to him.

There is only one firewall, and Xia Chuhe will not let that firewall leave a certain high school student.

Unfortunately, Xia Chuhe's promise not only reached the ears of humans, but also the ears of ghosts.

Like the plaid shirt, the ghost believed Xia Chuhe's words and immediately launched an attack on a high school student, but it was blocked by the firewall.

The ghost immediately realized it had been fooled, and it vented its anger on the plaid shirt that was walking by.

A ghostly hand appeared from the computer screen closest to the plaid shirt.

As the light flickered, Xia Chuhe shouted, "Run!"

The plaid shirt, which was highly focused, was startled by the sudden shout. Before its mind could react, its body had already fallen.

This fall actually saved his life, allowing him to narrowly escape the attack of the ghostly hand.

The plaid shirt fell to the ground and accidentally touched a button on the computer, causing the computer to emit random lights.

The ghostly hand, having missed its target, vanished immediately, awaiting its next opportunity to strike.

The plaid shirt grabbed at the ground haphazardly and stumbled and crawled to Xia Chuhe's side.

"What's wrong with you? Didn't you promise to protect me? You're not really a ghost, are you?" The plaid shirt trembled like a leaf, but his mouth fired off a barrage of questions like a machine gun.

"Sorry, it takes me a while to migrate the firewall. The ghost might have caught me off guard." Xia Chuhe told a white lie.

The man in the plaid shirt asked suspiciously, "Really?"

“If you continue to be skeptical, we can’t cooperate. I can also say that you are the ghost, otherwise how could you have so coincidentally dodged the ghost hand’s attack? You must be using a self-inflicted injury to lower our guard.”

The man in the plaid shirt remained silent for a long while before stammering, "No, I found this. Take a look."

When the plaid-shirted man fell to the ground, he grabbed a hard card, a charred student ID card. The face on the card was burned beyond recognition, leaving only the student number and school.

A student ID isn't a major clue; at most, it explains the blackened walls of the internet cafe—a fire had occurred there, and students used the internet there.

Xia Chuhe stared at her student ID number in a daze. If she remembered correctly, the first two digits of the student ID number usually indicated the year of enrollment—2011.

Therefore, the fire must have occurred between 11 and 14 years ago.

Xia Chuhe took out his phone, but there was no signal.

This is an independent spacetime.

The blue-collar worker nearby asked in a trembling voice, "What...what should I do?"

Xia Chuhe glanced at Mr. Dai: "If you're willing to take a risk, you can come over."

Blue Collar gritted his teeth and quickly ran towards Xia Chuhe and the others. During his movement, he was also attacked by the ghostly hand. Fortunately, Blue Collar was just as lucky as Plaid Shirt, and arrived safely at the point Xia Chuhe had created.

The survivors are now clearly divided into two factions—Mr. Dai and the others.

So far, only Mr. Dai has not been attacked.

With these two points combined, the possibility that Mr. Dai is a ghost is even greater.
