Before Xia Chuhe could give any instructions, the hummingbird automatically played a video.
The video opens with a transition from day to night, showing two mice kneeling in the middle of the yard, racking their brains but still unable to remember what kind of children they had.
As night fell, the tiger approached and, looking down at him, declared: "Tomorrow, someone will represent your children to put you on trial."
After the tiger left, the two mice reverted to their original forms and bit through the ropes binding them.
As soon as they stood up, a large yellow dog, missing a hind leg, casually pressed down on the tails of the two mice and tied them up again.
The female mouse's pupils contracted, and she exclaimed with delight, "I remember now! I remember! We have a child, a dog! A dog!"
The big yellow dog sneered: "Too late."
The video ends, and another video begins.
One of them entered the tiger's room with a rope: "Brother, this was found behind the truck. It looks like some rats have sneaked in."
"After the trial of the rats in the yard tomorrow, immediately place the entire city under martial law," the tiger said.
After the hummingbird finished playing the video, it jumped onto Xia Chuhe's finger, asking for a reward.
The little black snake unexpectedly bit it, and the hummingbird flew angrily to Xia Chuhe's ear to complain.
Xia Chuhe scratched his itchy ear, took out some sugar and dissolved it in water. Not understanding what the hummingbird was doing, he decided to give it some sugar water first.
The "rats" who watched the video together all looked innocent.
"Are you talking about us, the rats?" Li Yue asked.
Xia Chuhe nodded. Their identities in the instance were new villagers of Peach Blossom Village, which meant they were essentially giant rats.
Wang Yan was filled with anxiety: "Am I dragging everyone down?"
“It has nothing to do with you,” Xia Chuhe said.
Wang Yan's mutation might speed up their discovery, but even without Wang Yan, the city's residents probably wouldn't let them go.
I wonder what grudge this city has against rats; perhaps tomorrow's judgment will provide the answer.
Just in case, Xia Chuhe asked Wuying to take Wang Yan and Li Yue out of the instance first.
Wuying turned her head and said, "No, I haven't had enough fun yet."
Xia Chuhe: "..."
Attempting to cooperate with Wuying was the worst decision she ever made.
Xia Chuhe patiently persuaded, "We agreed that this instance is my test for the Lighthouse. Don't you want the Lighthouse to pass the test?"
"I want to." Wuying wished he could twist his neck 180 degrees to completely avoid Xia Chuhe's gaze. "But you didn't promise to join the Lighthouse if you passed the test; and you didn't bring any benefits to the Lighthouse. You might die tomorrow."
Xin Diao muttered under her breath, "Look at me."
Wuying closed his eyes tightly: "I won't look."
Xin Diao grabbed Wu Ying's chin without any politeness: "Open your eyes, grandma! If you don't, I'll gouge them out!"
Wang Gang, the big, simple-minded guy who had been standing guard by Wuying's side, pried Xin Diao's hands off: "Show some respect to our Third Master!"
Xia Chuhe pulled Xin Diao back, speaking calmly: "Forget it, you can't force things. I shouldn't have placed my hopes of escaping the dungeon on him in the first place."
Xia Chuhe stared intently at Wuying, who had his eyes closed: "With someone like you in the Lighthouse, I'm only glad I didn't join it."
Her invisible eyelashes trembled almost imperceptibly.
He was quite tough; he didn't even ask for a sleeping bag and simply lay down fully clothed on the ground not far from Xia Chuhe and the others.
Wang Gang faithfully stayed by his side.
After a long while, in the dead of night, Wang Gang suddenly blurted out, "Third Master, Sister Xia's suggestion is quite good. Let's take the dangerous elements out with us, so we can be safe and sound, and we can also do Sister Xia a favor."
Without a trace, he flipped over, turning his back to Wang Gang: "Go to sleep. I, your humble servant, will never obey anyone."
"What about the boss?"
"Don't mention the boss. She doesn't want us anymore. She hasn't come back for years."
Wang Gang remained silent.
Xia Chuhe, who was keeping watch at night, remained silent.
Even Lu Danggui, who was pretending to be asleep in the tent, remained silent.
Silence is Cambridge tonight.
Of the people involved, and the greatest risk factor, Wang Yan was fast asleep. In his sleep, his skin slowly turned black and grew hair.
...
Despite refusing to cooperate at night, Wuying persisted the next day, clinging to Xia Chuhe and the others as they went to watch the trial.
Only Wang Yan was left in the fields, and his only task was to protect himself.
The market was closed today, and all the residents were walking in one direction.
Xia Chuhe and the others sprayed on lots of perfume and mingled at the back of the crowd.
The trial was held at the end of the street, where a small, square wooden platform was erected, with two short pillars supported on it, and ropes wrapped around the pillars.
The two mice had their hands tied behind their backs with rope, and they had nooses around their necks.
The audience whispered among themselves: "Whose enemy is this?"
"How wonderful it is to be able to punish the stinky rat that brought me into this world to suffer."
"I'm almost full of energy. When that happens, I'll ask Tiger to bring those two stinky rats over for me."
...
As the tiger stepped onto the judge's bench, the noisy crowd immediately fell silent.
The tiger announced, "The trial begins."
A man with a broken leg and a dog's head stands on the judge's bench.
"The judge today should not be me, but my comrade-in-arms. He sacrificed his life in the battle to defend the free zone, and his last wish was for me to take his place and judge his progenitors."
The audience listened quietly, unsurprised that the judge was dead.
“My comrade and I met at the Good Dog Training Camp. We grew up on the same leash. At the Good Dog Training Camp, we endured hunger and repeated cruel reflex training, fought and killed each other, and were trained to be good dogs who love to serve others, so that we could protect the village and the villagers when we grew up. Meanwhile, the little villagers next door were well-fed and clothed from a young age, and only needed to learn how to mate and reproduce.”
