Psychological Assessment Room.

Ouyang Lin repeatedly checked the latest examination report on Su Wanxing, and the pen turned countless circles in her hand.

Su Wanxing closed the panel that read [Task Progress: 50%] and tried to break the deadlock with a joke, "Director Ouyang, can you give me some slack today?"

Ouyang Lin was amused. "It depends on your performance. Well, today's psychological evaluation results seem to be very important."

"Well, does it concern my life?" Su Wanxing asked.

"It's not that heavy. What makes you think that?"

"Because staying alive is important to me." Su Wanxing said sincerely.

Ouyang Lin finally put down the document and looked up, "Have you come out of the dream?"

"Forget it," Su Wanxing recalled, "it turns out that the road of hope in the dream is not the real escape route."

"What is that?"

“The will to survive is the great potential that is stimulated when facing death.”

"It seems that you didn't drown in your dream." Ouyang Lin continued to tick the document, then turned to the second page, "Do you remember who you are?"

"A poor unfortunate guy. He was swallowed up by the rising sea level because he was working to earn money for his studies." Su Wanxing avoided answering in too much detail. After all, he knew nothing else.

"Remember your friends?"

"My colleague who worked with me has changed her career to become a nurse! Professor Moore, who I only met once, has become the chief physician!"

On the way here, Su Wanxing ran into Professor Moore and saw that he had indeed been bitten on the base of his left hand. With the help of Tong Ming, she had a clear idea in her mind.

But psychological assessment is not that simple. If one can pass the test simply by remembering someone, then Director Ouyang must have taken the initiative to let him/her off.

Obviously, Director Ouyang is a dedicated worker. "Do you remember my evaluation of you during the last psychological evaluation?"

"You said, I'm conflicted."

Ouyang Lin nodded affirmatively, "So, what do you think?"

"Your evaluation is very pertinent," Su Wanxing said sincerely, "I think I am a normal person, but I try to put myself in the shoes of a mental patient."

"I still have the same question," Ouyang Lin said, "Do you think you are a normal person?"

"Director Ouyang, do you think I'm normal?" Su Wanxing asked back.

Ouyang Lin had a strange expression on his face, as if he was examining a monster that was completely different from himself.

Su Wanxing paused, "I also want to know, what is Director Ouyang's standard answer to the same question?"

There was a ripple in Ouyang Lin's eyes, as if she had never encountered such a question in her career.

Su Wanxing thought about it and said, "The standard answer is probably between normal and abnormal."

Ouyang Lin's eyelids flickered slightly.

Su Wanxing sighed, "I really hate doing reading comprehension. If I guess the standard answer, it must be abnormal. If I answer with similar meaning but different structure, it is normal. But I am also grateful for reading comprehension, which taught me how to think."

"You are more thoughtful than I thought." Ouyang Lin managed to say.

"You are more contradictory than I am, Director Ouyang." Su Wanxing unconsciously took the initiative.

Ouyang Lin looked directly at Su Wanxing, the insight in his eyes slowly disintegrating.

"On the one hand, you ask me if I am normal? On the other hand, you think that mentally ill people are definitely not normal." Su Wanxing said, "Contradictions are universal. Oh, I have gone off topic. This is a philosophical question that makes people think deeply."

"My conversation with you was thought-provoking. The question of whether something is normal or not really cannot be used as a criterion to judge a person. I will report the situation of the assessment to my superiors."

Ouyang Lin said humbly, and crossed out the word "normal" on the evaluation result and changed it to "passed".

"Congratulations, you can be discharged from the hospital."

Su Wanxing glanced at the game control panel.

[Task progress: 75%]

"Thank you Director Ouyang."

"You're welcome," Ouyang Lin reminded, "The discharge procedure is scheduled for tomorrow morning. We won't see each other next week. I'm saying goodbye in advance."

"Do you really remember me?" Tong Ming seemed a little confused.

Su Wanxing paced in the huge ward, carefully checking whether there was any surveillance in the newly transferred ward.

She raised her watch and saw that the Fa Cai displayed [No Surveillance], then she replied slowly: "No, I only remember that you saved me, but from now on, I will not forget you."

"You are a good person." Su Wanxing added.

"Thank you," Tong Ming smiled happily, "I hope you can be happy forever after tomorrow."

This is the purest blessing. Su Wanxing smiled knowingly, "I suddenly remembered a lot of things. Will this t change seem abrupt?"

"Of course not, it's a miracle!"

"Sister Tong Ming, can you tell me what happened in Area C a year ago?"

Tong Ming's expression was excited for a moment, "For me, this story is so familiar to me!"

This story has been told countless times, but every time Tong Ming mentions it, he is shocked.

Area C is the most desolate area on the entire planet. Even in a complete map, it is difficult to see its existence at a glance.

They make a living by selling seafood, barely maintaining the expenses of the poor area. But the sudden news made the already poor family even worse.

The Federal Executive Bureau approved the request to discharge nuclear wastewater from Island C, and the already devastated ocean was completely turned into a living hell.

Area C soon became the first disaster area, but so what? Time will turn humans into fish with only seven seconds of memory.

The shocking news at that time has become a thing of the past, and even the news that the company was once again swallowed by the sea level has become idle talk after dinner.

Tong Ming was the most ordinary person in District C, so the story of her home being swallowed up received little attention and there were no touching scenes of rescue. She only remembered the anger of nature, which always erupted so quickly.

"In the end, Area C became the bottom of the sea, and the bodies of those who didn't make it gradually rotted away, perhaps leaving only a pile of bones," Tong Ming said sadly. "Being submerged by the ocean is a matter of a day or two. How could there be a protagonist with a halo to save the world? The end result is that the disaster is forgotten."

Su Wanxing could understand Tong Ming's sadness. Only those who have experienced hardships will remember them.

"You chose to stay after you were cured?"

"Because I grew up by the sea, I know water and can swim, so my brain damage is not as serious as yours."

Tong Ming said: "I was lucid before I came to the mental hospital. I stayed here partly because I wanted to help the vast majority of people like you, and partly because I had no home. I didn't know where to go."

Su Wanxing felt regretful, "But why did we come to the mental hospital instead of the hospital in the first place?"

"I have also thought about this problem. The reason given by the hospital is that we have been contaminated by nuclear wastewater and our cells may become diseased, so it is best to concentrate on treatment," Tong Ming recalled.

"Do you know what the hospital's research project is? For example, what would happen if I really became the next batch of experimenters?"

Tong Ming shook her head. "I am just a nurse, not a professional, and I don't have that much authority. Usually I am only responsible for taking care of patients and running errands. In fact, I am a temporary worker. I heard about you becoming an experimenter from Ouyang Lin, and she is not very tight-lipped."

Su Wanxing nodded and opened her arms, "Thank you, Sister Tong Ming."

Tong Ming hugged Su Wanxing with understanding, "I am also very happy to meet you, see you later."

On the fourth day after the start of the game, Su Wanxing couldn't sleep all night.

It’s not that I’m excited about completing the mission and leaving this damn place, but I’m just very sleepy but can’t fall asleep. It’s so serious that I have tinnitus from time to time.

Su Wanxing has always eaten well and slept well, so it was very painful for her to stay awake all night for the first time.

"Too excited to sleep?" Ouyang Lin completed the discharge procedures.

Su Wanxing yawned again and said casually, "Maybe."

Ouyang Lin handed over a card, "This is a pass. When you take the elevator and reach the final floor, you will see a security checkpoint. You can pass through by swiping the card."

"Thank you, Director Ouyang." Su Wanxing wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes caused by yawning.

"Goodbye!" Tong Ming arrived at the elevator entrance early and waited.

Su Wanxing said goodbye to her softly, looked up at the towering columns that stretched endlessly for the last time, and then stepped into the elevator with ease.

She held down the top button - (+50).

The snow-white elevator door slowly closed, and Su Wanxing and Tong Ming waved goodbye one after another.

This time, she took off her blue and white striped hospital gown and slowly moved up from the (-5) floor. During the journey, she would meet patients and medical staff. Her bright and colorful clothes seemed out of place here.

Although I don't know how many meters apart each floor is, the long fifteen-minute elevator ride is enough to prove that the floors are far apart.

Starting from the +1 floor, the elevator arrived at the floors faster, which means the distance between floors was getting shorter. Moreover, the elevator ran very smoothly without any stopping.

Su Wanxing reached the 50th floor smoothly.

The moment the elevator door opened, a strong wind surged and Su Wanxing almost lost her balance. Her thin clothes were blown twisted, and even though her hair was tied into a ponytail, it was pulled straight by the strong wind.

Su Wanxing squinted her eyes and walked out with gritted teeth. She finally saw the security checkpoint not far away.

This was a straight, semi-open-air metal corridor with high handrails reaching Su Wanxing's shoulders. She looked down the corridor curiously.

Oh my god! Su Wanxing turned his head back in fear.

On the endless black sea, there are elevators that reach into the sky. Between the cylindrical elevators, there are intricate semi-open-air metal corridors.

Unable to see any land, Su Wanxing began to panic. Could it be that the land in this world was swallowed up by the deep sea within a year?

The roaring wind seemed to be able to blow people away. If Su Wanxing had not held on to the handrail tightly, he would have been blown into the inky black sea.

Behind the security checkpoint in front of me is still a cylindrical building that is wider than the elevator.

Su Wanxing suddenly understood what Uncle Men said. She really came from a terrifying cage to another even more terrifying cage.

Except for the security checkpoint that is exposed, none of the iconic buildings are exposed on the cylinders above the deep sea, like a cage that never sees the light, trapping the fragile and tiny human beings.

"Please show your pass!" the machine voice announced.

The wind at the security checkpoint was a little weaker, so Su Wanxing looked around. There was a closed door at the back, which was some distance from the security checkpoint and was like a terrace, but no one was inside.

She then took out the card given by Director Ouyang and pressed it on the card sticking area.

Data began to jump on the electronic display screen, probably looking up Su Wanxing's information.

Su Wanxing waited patiently.

A minute later, the machine voice sounded: "Approval passed."

The blocking horizontal bar was suddenly moved away, leaving space for a human body to pass through.

Su Wanxing finally felt relieved and walked into the security check.

At the same time, the door in front opened to both sides, and a middle-aged man in a white coat walked out. The scene inside the door was shrouded in darkness and it was bottomless.

Su Wanxing looked at the man’s ID card warily—Jia Yi, director of the psychiatric department.

Before Su Wanxing could pretend, Jia Yi stopped her and said, "Ms. Su, I'm very sorry. Although you have passed the psychological evaluation and are eligible for discharge, the school has advised you to withdraw because of your personal experience."

Su Wanxing frowned unhappily. She was now a senior student and would graduate soon. Logically, she would go back to school after being discharged from the hospital.

"Because I was diagnosed as a psychopath?"

Jia Yi shook his head helplessly and took out his cell phone. "This is your principal's voice. You can listen to it."

A righteous voice came from the phone: "That's right, classmate Su Wanxing has been diagnosed with mania and has been in a mental hospital for more than a year. We can't guarantee the safety of other students."

"Besides, times have changed. Who knows if people who have been exposed to nuclear wastewater will contract some infectious disease? Our school unanimously believes that it would be best for the student to drop out."

Su Wanxing’s brows furrowed more and more.

"Your current condition is very complicated. If you were a patient who was discharged from the hospital a year ago, it would be okay. Even if you are not recognized by the school, you can still re-enter the society and live a good life." Jia Yi sighed and continued.

"But now the land is gone, resources are scarce, and you have been contaminated by nuclear wastewater. Although your physical condition remains good, others will not be kind to you just because you are healthy. Once there is a stain on a blank piece of paper, it is difficult to erase it. Now no place is willing to accept you."

"But I passed the review." Su Wanxing pointed to the security check entrance.

"The machine won't be contaminated by nuclear power," Jia Yi said with a wry smile. "Even if you pass the machine review, there will still be manual re-inspection. Can you guarantee that you pass every step?"

Su Wanxing was so angry that her heart ached. "Get out of the way! I'm going to try it no matter what."

Jia Yi smiled contemptuously, "After all I've said, you still don't understand? How about this, you choose to stay in the mental hospital. As long as you accept blood sampling every week, we can still provide you with three meals a day, so you don't have to sleep in the open, which would be a waste of your value."

Su Wanxing asked calmly: "What are you researching?"

"Of course it's medicine to cure nuclear pollution diseases!" Jia Yi's eyes were filled with madness, "If it succeeds..."

While he was lost in his reverie, Su Wanxing took out a small stone and, using his growing throwing skills, threw the stone out with all his might.

Jia Yi fell to one knee in an instant, and Su Wanxing quickly stepped around him and rushed into the door.

"Catch her!" Jia Yi shouted with gritted teeth.

Su Wanxing rushed forward desperately. As soon as he stepped into the shadow inside the door, the faces of several armed soldiers were lit up by the sunlight that came in.

Not good! Su Wanxing saw someone holding up a gun.

A thin needle pierced into her shoulder.

A brief sting passed, and a feeling of stiffness spread throughout the body.

Su Wanxing fell to the ground uncontrollably, his consciousness became blurred, and he fainted.
