Chapter 6 Aye and Ahua

Chu Yuening opened the system navigation, walked through the streets and alleys and came to a stone bridge. Across the river was the market.

With her excellent eyesight, she could see that a flag had been hung high at the gate, indicating that the market was open.

Chu Yuening tucked the cloth bag tightly into her arms and entered the market. She slowed down her pace and looked at the shops and stalls with curiosity.

There was a dazzling array of goods and merchandise, including wooden wares and pottery, clothing and cloth, grain and poultry...

The sounds of hawking and bargaining are the main themes of the market.

The lively scenes were full of life, and Chu Yue was dazzled by them.

But remembering the most important thing, she withdrew her gaze and walked further into the market.

A moment later.

Chu Yuening went straight to a special stall.

Some of the children were curled up naked, covered in dirt, and there were several cows and horses chewing grass next to them.

She quietly watched this real yet absurd scene, and for the first time deeply felt the cruelty of the feudal dynasty.

As teenagers, modern children enjoy the care and protection of everyone and have no worries about food and clothing.

The only worry is probably too much homework.

Children of this era are already struggling to make a living, and some have even become slaves, not knowing where their future lies.

Chu Yuening pursed her lips and suppressed the unknown emotions in her heart.

This is the limitation and sadness of the times. She is powerless now and can only wait until she has the ability to change everything.

She noticed a pair of siblings who looked even thinner among the group of children. They looked like they were only eight or nine years old.

They were snuggling together tightly. Although there was numbness and sorrow on their faces, their eyes were still clear and bright, and they held hope for life.

Chu Yuening was touched and couldn't help but walk up to them, squatting down and asking.

"What are your names? Will you come with me?"

One of the little boys looked up as the shadows fell.

He looked dazed, and felt as if he had seen a fairy from heaven.

Although her clothes were not gorgeous, her face as bright as the moon was more than enough to surpass everything.

Chu Yuening couldn't help but chuckle when she saw the boy's dazed look, and asked again patiently.

The boy was immediately awakened, his face flushed, and he was obviously a little shy.

However, after looking at his timid and thin sister, he finally mustered up the courage to speak.

"Sir, can you please feed my sister and me?"

"As long as you listen to my instructions and work hard for me, you will not only have enough food and clothing, but you will also receive wages every month."

Although Chu Yuening knew about the oppression of slaves in this era, she was still willing to show some kindness within her ability.

The boy's eyes lit up instantly after hearing this.

He was afraid that the gentleman would think he was asking for too much, so he quickly agreed.

"Sir, I will definitely do my best for you! As long as we can have enough food to eat, no wages are required."

Chu Yuening nodded with a smile and did not refute.

Anyway, you won't suffer any loss if you work for her. She is a good boss.

After consulting the two men, she walked up to the clerk who managed the slaves and asked about their prices.

After paying two hundred copper coins and completing various formalities, she finally got the indentures for the two of them.

"Ding~ Congratulations to the host for changing the tragic fate of these two people and gaining 200 points of merit."

Is this a pleasant surprise?

Chu Yuening thought to herself, these two siblings are indeed miserable.

From the clerk, we learned that the brother and sister became slaves because their father was imprisoned for corruption and their mother committed suicide because she could not bear the slavery, leaving behind two helpless children.

Fortunately, the two were minors and were spared punishment.

She sighed softly.

Young children are innocent. They cannot choose their parents, nor can they choose their own destiny. They can only be swept away by the cruel reality.

This system of collective responsibility is truly ruthless and terrifying!

If I meet His Majesty the First Emperor, I will definitely offer some suggestions if I have the chance.

In times of chaos, severe punishments should be used to shock people.

But now that the Qin Dynasty has been unified, the implementation of overly harsh punishments will inevitably lead to complaints from the people and demoralization of the people.

Chu Yuening collected her thoughts and stopped thinking about it. She then led the two children out slowly.

During this period, she learned the names of the two people: the brother was Ye and the sister was Hua.

The names of the common people in the Qin Dynasty were simple and crude, some of them were called "Heitu" and "Chong'er". Since the brother and sister were originally from an official family, the names were quite acceptable.

"Then how about I call you Aye and Ahua? You can call me Master outside, and call me Sister at home."

Although Chu Yuening doesn't follow the naive and naive approach of everyone being equal, she won't be too harsh and ruthless either.

People are all made of flesh and blood.

She believes in "returning sincerity for sincerity" and that doing things out of sincerity are two different things.

What's more, she has many secrets and needs their 100% loyalty.

"Understood, my lord."

The brother and sister were so moved that their eyes filled with tears. They had already experienced all the sufferings in the world in the slave market.

They eat and live with cattle and horses, and are deprived of their human identity. In the eyes of everyone, slaves like them are objects without any dignity.

However, the fairy sister squatted down to talk to them, asked for their opinions, and gently called their names...

Let them feel again that they exist as "human beings" rather than livestock.

Chu Yuening took the two of them to the stall to buy some clothes and daily necessities, as well as some fresh cabbage and a pheasant.
