Chapter 225 The Haunted Hospital
Inside G City Airport, Ao Lijun, Hu Meifang, and Hu Dechang walked out of the passageway with hurried steps and anxious expressions.
Hu Dechang was Hu Ruisu's maternal grandfather.
Although he was over seventy years old and his back was slightly hunched, he was still sturdy despite holding a cane. He wore a custom-made dark gray Zhongshan suit, and as he walked, the cane struck the ground heavily, the rhythmic "thump-thump" sound seeming to proclaim his authority.
Father Ao Lijun was slightly overweight, and his hair, though thinning, was meticulously styled and perfectly neat. He looked flustered, glancing around frequently, his hands unconsciously rubbing together, revealing his inner anxiety.
Hu Meifang is slender and stylishly dressed. Even after receiving news that her son was critically ill, she still made sure to carry her limited-edition Hermès Birkin bag when she went out.
"Su Su sounded so weak on the phone, how badly is he hurt? If anything happens to him, I'll never forgive those people!" Hu Meifang's eyebrows shot up, her voice sharp, her tone full of anger and worry.
Hu Dechang frowned, slamming his cane against the ground with a dull thud: "What's the panic! Su Suji is protected by heaven. Once we get to the hospital, we'll follow my instructions. If anyone dares to cheat us, I'll make them regret it!"
Ao Lijun nodded repeatedly, his face full of a fawning smile: "Dad, Meifang, you're right. With you two in charge, we'll definitely be able to handle things properly. It's all my fault. I've been busy with work lately and neglected Susu. If I had kept a closer eye on her, this might not have happened."
Hu Meifang rolled her eyes at Ao Lijun, her tone icy: "What's the use of saying all this now? If something really happens to Su Su, I'll never forgive you!" Ao Lijun's face turned red, and he lowered his head even further, looking like a child who had made a mistake.
Hu Dechang snorted coldly, his gaze sweeping over Ao Lijun like a knife: "When we get to the hospital, don't say anything out of line, and don't cause me any trouble!"
Ao Lijun trembled and said repeatedly, "Dad, don't worry, I will definitely listen to you."
The three quickened their pace and soon arrived at the First Hospital of G City, but encountered a small problem when looking for a ward.
When the nurse on duty at the information desk saw the address on their text message, she looked suspicious: "Your relative is hospitalized in Building 7, are you sure that's correct?"
Hu Dechang impatiently tapped the ground with his cane, making the information desk shake slightly. "Hurry up and tell us the location of the ward, don't waste our time!"
Ao Lijun, who was originally standing behind the two, immediately chimed in after hearing his father-in-law speak up: "That's right, we've come all this way, our time is precious, let's not dawdle!"
The nurse opened her mouth, trying to explain, but swallowed her words after meeting the arrogant gazes of the three men. In the end, she only gave a curt reply: "Go out of the lobby, turn left, and keep walking straight until you see Building 7."
"That's right!" Hu Meifang snorted coldly, snatched the phone, and hurriedly left with everyone.
The three figures disappeared at the exit of the outpatient hall, and the nurse, watching the direction they left in, rolled her eyes: "That building has been abandoned for years, how could anyone have arranged for it there? A family of idiots, they didn't even know they were being scammed..."
However, even without the nurse's reminder, the three of them still sensed something was wrong when they arrived at the foot of Building 7.
This building is ridiculously dilapidated. It's a run-down three-story building with peeling paint on the walls. It looks like it's at least 50 years old.
"Dad, why is this place so eerie? What's Su Su doing here?" Hu Meifang hugged her arms tightly, her voice filled with unease.
Hu Dechang frowned and tapped the ground heavily with his cane, making a dull sound, trying to dispel the fear in his heart: "Don't panic! Maybe the hospital is short of rooms and they temporarily arranged for Susu to be here." Although he said this, his hand unconsciously tightened his grip on the cane, and his knuckles turned white.
In their family, the old man always made the decisions. Since he had said so, they had no choice but to bite the bullet and go inside.
Fortunately, the building only looked dilapidated on the outside, but the inside was quite normal. As soon as I went in, I saw a young nurse filling out the duty roster on the wall.
Hu Dechang immediately said arrogantly, "Take us to ward 404."
The nurse smiled slightly: "Are you Hu Ruisu's family members? We've been waiting for you for a long time. Please come with me."
Seeing this, the three of them breathed a sigh of relief and followed the nurse into the stairwell.
The stairwell had a faint smell of disinfectant, and the lighting was dim but still fairly bright.
On the way, the nurse took the time to explain to them that there was a shortage of wards, so they were temporarily assigned to this building. Although the facilities were a bit old, it was quiet and suitable for patients to recuperate.
The three of them gradually relaxed. But as they walked, Hu Meifang suddenly realized something was wrong: "Why haven't we seen a single patient or doctor along the way? Does that mean our Susu is the only patient in this building?"
The nurse walked in front, saying without turning her head, "How could that be?"
"Then why didn't we see a single one?" Ao Lijun asked, trembling slightly, as he lagged behind. He still felt that this place looked too eerie.
The nurse slowly turned around and said calmly, "That's because they're all dead."
The three of them were stunned. Upon closer inspection, they realized that the nurse, who had finally turned her head, had no facial features!
"Aaaaaaaahhhhh!!!"
A scream pierced the sky, and the three of them turned and ran downhill.
But after running for a while, they realized something was wrong. They had only gone up two floors, but now it seemed that no matter how they went downstairs, they couldn't find the lobby on the first floor.
Thick fog filled the corridors and stairwells, and the emergency lights on the walls flickered, emitting an eerie glow that cast long, distorted shadows.
"What...what should we do?!" Ao Lijun cried out.
“Shut up, you’re a useless piece of trash!” Hu Dechang cursed. “Just find a corridor window and jump out, it’s not that high up anyway.”
