Chapter 80 "That damned bastard"
The setting sun gently bathed every corner of the city, announcing that this busy day was about to come to an end.
At 5 p.m., Manager Jia, who clocked out on time, went to the food court under Building C for lunch as usual.
At that moment, he had no idea what he was about to face.
At this hour, most office workers hadn't finished work yet. He found a small restaurant nearby, picked up a large plate, and with a somewhat lazy yet slightly arrogant gait, casually grabbed three meat dishes and one vegetable dish to pay the bill.
The man who paid the bill was an older man. When he looked up and saw Manager Jia, he paused for a moment, his expression freezing instantly before quickly turning into a stiff smile: "Oh, Manager Jia, you've come to eat here in person?"
Manager Jia's lips curled up slightly, revealing a smug smile, and he replied insincerely, "What are you talking about? Come on, calculate the cost for me."
Uncle: "Oh, what kind of relationship do we have? How could I possibly accept your money? I'm already very grateful that you came to support me."
Manager Jia said, "How can that be? You're running a business, how can I not pay you?"
"No, no, you absolutely cannot give me this money, otherwise you're disrespecting me!" The uncle thought to himself, "The last merchant who asked me for money had a leaky shop that hadn't been fixed for a month. How dare I take your money?"
Manager Jia then said with a troubled expression, "Oh, look at you, really. Well then, don't do it again next time~" and then walked away triumphantly with his tray.
The middle-aged man smiled obsequiously until he saw Manager Jia's figure disappear from sight. Then he exchanged a glance with the vendor next to him and muttered, "Pah, damn bastard."
After a satisfying meal, Manager Jia, still feeling unsatisfied, took a stroll upstairs to the clothing section. He thoroughly enjoyed the feeling, as if he were a majestic lion surveying his territory. Every step he took was radiating confidence, and every glance conveyed a superior, scrutinizing air.
Having successfully acquired three pairs of socks and a scarf, he leisurely returned to his rented room on the top floor of Building C.
Yes, he also lives in Building C.
It wasn't because the homeowner owned a supermarket downstairs, and he offered the lowest price to curry favor and take advantage of the situation. Rather, it was because this way he could be in work mode anytime, being a good employee available 24/7!
As is his custom, the first thing he does when he gets back to his rented apartment is to turn on the air conditioning and fill the bathtub with water. No matter the temperature, he likes to take a bath as soon as he gets home.
Anyway, he could secretly spread the utility bills among other users, so he didn't feel bad at all.
He lay on the sofa in the living room, projected his phone screen onto the TV, and watched short videos on the big screen for a while.
Yes, his life has always been so elegant and comfortable.
During that time, he felt a chill on his neck, but he didn't think much of it. He just assumed it was because of the recent drop in temperature and that he could wear the new scarf he received today tomorrow.
With that in mind, he then placed his phone on the side table, plugged it in, picked up his new scarf, and went into the bathroom.
I'll wash this scarf along with the clothes later.
Someone like him who has high standards for quality of life would definitely wash his personal items before using them.
Stepping into the bathroom, the bathtub was almost full of water.
He tossed the scarf into the laundry basket, then picked up a bath salt ball and threw it into the bathtub.
That bath salt ball was "gifted" by the shop downstairs a few days ago. It seems to be a new variety. After it enters the water, it not only produces a lot of bubbles, but also leaves a colorful rainbow, which is very beautiful.
Manager Jia was quite satisfied, muttering as he took off his clothes, "This one is not bad, I'll get a few more tomorrow."
Then, he comfortably lay back in the bubble bath.
Looking up, he was right in front of the air vent above. He couldn't help but recall that most of the cameras removed from Boss Lai's place were installed in this location.
"That idiot surnamed Lai," he cursed. "He knew perfectly well that those laborers didn't have time to take a bath, yet he still put it in this spot, making it impossible for me to see anything."
Yes, he had known all along that Boss Lai had installed hidden cameras, and he would even occasionally go over to "enjoy" them.
But he was clever; he didn't leave any trace, nor did he record any video. He simply looked at the video and left.
Fortunately, the man surnamed Lai was sensible enough not to tell the police about it.
"Ha, a bunch of poor laborers, they can be easily dismissed with a little money. Do they really think they're worth something?" He sneered, comfortably closing his eyes and sighing, "I just wonder where I'll find something interesting to watch in the future."
Just then, a child's innocent voice rang in his ear: "What's so interesting?"
Manager Jia suddenly opened his eyes.
Then, on the bubbly surface of the water, a little boy's head slowly rose. His innocent face was full of curiosity. He stared intently at Manager Jia with his eyes, the whites of his eyes almost invisible, and asked again, "What's so interesting? Can I see it?"
Manager Jia: "Aaaaaah!!!"
Ignoring the fact that he was naked and covered in bubbles, Manager Jia, like a mad beast, frantically climbed out of the bathtub and rushed into the living room!
As soon as he opened the bathroom door, something grabbed his neck. Because of the force of the impact, he couldn't stop in time, bounced back, and fell heavily back into the bathroom.
He awkwardly raised his head. The new scarf he had just worn was hanging on the bathroom doorway, looking like a noose, glistening with moisture.
Before he could even react, a grown male ghost climbed down from the doorframe. His pale face was devoid of color, and his eyes held a chilling coldness as he looked at him reproachfully: "My son is asking you a question, why aren't you answering?"
Manager Jia was utterly terrified; his body trembled uncontrollably, and all he could manage to scream in despair was, "Aa ...
At this moment, a female ghost on the sofa was fiddling with his phone, and the TV screen was still projected, switching between various classic ghost movie clips.
The female ghost glared at him and said with displeasure, "It's so noisy, don't disturb my learning of advanced experiences."
The male ghost took off his scarf, holding both ends in his hands, and approached him step by step, a hint of mockery in his eyes: "Look at you, so shameless! My wife is right here. Come on, let me give you some more clothes..."
