"My brother is inside."

"Whose birthday is that?" she asked, sobbing.

Jiang Zhaoying smiled but didn't say anything explicitly, "Guess. If you guess correctly, you can eat it too."

Ning Qiluo had no time to guess. She sniffed and said, "I don't want to eat cake right now. I... today..." Ning Qiluo suddenly remembered something and looked up at him, asking, "What's the date today?"

Jiang Zhaoying smiled.

The smile spread across his lips: "Have you been living in a daze? You don't even know what day it is today."

Upon hearing this, Ning Qiluo hesitated for a moment before asking him, "Is today October 26th?"

Jiang Zhaoying nodded: "Yes, today is my brother's birthday."

Ning Qiluo: "..."

Fuzi whispered in her ear several times what day October 26th was, but she said she didn't know. Fuzi said that she had saved it in her contacts before, and that she had asked Fuzi to save it in case her phone wasn't with her.

Little did she know that her old phone was gone, and Fuzi's phone didn't clearly indicate what day it was.

It turns out that October 26th is Jiang Yingchi's birthday.

She must have cared about him a lot to have double-marked his birthday in her contacts so she wouldn't forget. But she still forgot.

She's so stupid.

Seeing that Ning Qiluo was about to cry again, Jiang Zhaoying quickly comforted her: "Think about it, it's my brother's birthday today, so don't cry. He's getting on in years, it's not good for you to cry like this."

Ning Qiluo couldn't accept the phrase "at her age" for some reason.

She retorted, "You're quite old yourself; Jiang Yingchi looks younger than you."

Jiang Zhaoying: "..."

Damn, that's a sure way to make an enemy.

Jiang Zhaoying angrily blew a stray hair from her forehead: "Can you please stop being so hypocritical?"

Ning Qiluo: "Jiang Yingchi just looks younger than you."

All right.

Fearing that she might make her cry again, Jiang Zhaoying decided not to argue with her.

That brat has a sharp tongue; heaven knows how hurtful her words were.

“My brother rarely celebrates his birthday. I remember the last time was a few years ago. He doesn’t like crowds, but Grandma helps him celebrate. He’s been quite bored these past few days alone in the hospital, and I’ve been busy, so I only got here now. It’s almost 10 o’clock, and his birthday will be over in two hours.”

After hearing what Jiang Zhaoying said, Ning Qiluo felt even more guilty.

"I don't know what happened to you, you look so disheveled. I'd think you went begging for food." After saying that, Jiang Zhaoying pointed to the ward door: "My brother is inside."

Ning Qiluo paused as she inhaled.

Looking up blankly, I followed the direction Jiang Zhaoying pointed—

Jiang Zhaoying's voice came through her ear: "My brother didn't know you were here, and he didn't want you to know either. He planned to contact you after he recovered. I originally planned to let you know in advance, but I didn't realize how busy he is until I took over all the business matters he was handling. To be honest, I've never been this busy in my life as I have these past few days. Endless documents to read, endless meetings to attend, and endless things to deal with..."

As Jiang Zhaoying said this, she felt extremely wronged.

He couldn't show how aggrieved he was, because these were things his brother did every day. His brother single-handedly supported the Jiang family's huge business, and he only realized now how difficult it was.

"What's going on?" she asked in a trembling voice.

Jiang Zhaoying replied, "It was a minor car accident, nothing serious."

The words "It's not a big problem" made Ning Qiluo breathe a sigh of relief.
