Liberation (The Finale)

Do you remember that cup of milk tea? I made it for you myself, handed it to you myself, and then watched as you lost your mind and went berserk. You gradually lost control of your emotions, became disoriented, and were forced to argue with me, until you pushed me off the balcony...

I'm telling you, it's all a conspiracy by the Sheng family.

Yunsheng always said that there wasn't a single good person in the Sheng family, right? Yes. The Sheng family is a den of demons, bottomless, devouring people without spitting out their bones.

Ning Qiluo, what I want to tell you is that you never wronged me, never intended to hurt me. I was wrong. I was controlled by the Sheng family, and in the end... I lost you, my best friend, the only friend who was willing to admire the magnolia blossoms with me...

...

After reading Sheng Changxiu's letter, I cried so hard I could hardly breathe.

That scene from back then was recreated before my eyes.

It's clear yet blurry, and seems very complicated; even I can't see it clearly anymore...

Over the years, I have tried countless times to convince myself to forget that scene, to forget the harm I caused to Sheng Changxiu, and to forget the mistakes I made.

But I can never forgive myself.

Deep down, I knew I owed Sheng Changxiu, and I would always owe her. Back then, I naively thought that I could only repay her if her legs recovered, or if I lost my own legs.

After I had this idea, I did try to put it into practice.

But the harm caused by giving up on myself will only be amplified on the people who love me. They bear these pains for me, and I realize that I shouldn't be so selfish.

...

That day.

Sheng Changxiu came to see me, wearing her favorite white dress. Although it was white, the pattern was anything but plain; the design was French-style, with embroidered lace trim, beautiful and delicate.

She also wore a Lolita straw hat with a three-centimeter-wide strap tied under her chin in a pretty bow.

That day, Sheng Changxiu appeared before me like a princess.

We went to Lake Bila, which was in full bloom with magnolias. Sheng Changxiu told me, "Qi Luo, I want to stay here for two days."

I said, "Okay."

Sheng Changxiu took my arm and rested her head on my shoulder: "Keep me company, I've been so bored lately. And I always admire the magnolias by myself, you never join me. They say you should share happiness, and flowers should be enjoyed together, don't you think?"

I listen to Sheng Changxiu's words very well.

He felt that what she said made sense, so he agreed.

We had so much fun during the day. We made our own barbecue, and Sheng Changxiu even taught me how to make milk tea. It was a milk tea with a wheat flavor, and it was the first time I had ever made a cup of it myself, although it tasted a bit strange.

Sheng Changxiu even praised me: "You like to drink milk tea, but Madam Qi will control how often you drink it. I also think that drinking too much milk tea from outside is not good, no matter how expensive it is, haha. Am I just like Madam Qi, causing you trouble?"

Sheng Changxiu handed me her specially made cup of milk tea and said, "Self-reliance leads to abundance. If you ever really want to drink milk tea but Madam Qi won't let you buy it, you can make it yourself to satisfy your craving. It may not taste as good as what you buy outside, but it's definitely healthier."

"Look at this wheat flavor, it's a specialty of Manzhou. When I get back, I'll have my friend send some more from Manzhou. If you want some, you can make it yourself. If you're too lazy to make it yourself, just give me a call and I'll make it and bring it to you."

I was very touched.

It was then that I realized that lasting friendship depends on mutual effort. I was very good to Sheng Changxiu, and she was good to me too. I thought we would always be this good friends, and that she would be my friend forever.

But the cup of milk tea she handed me shattered all my illusions.

What happened after I drank that milk tea caused me pain for many years.

As for what was actually in the milk tea, I don't know, and I don't know what's wrong with me. I can't remember why I became so out of control, or what caused the problem. The only thing I remember is that I was arguing with Sheng Changxiu, and in a fit of rage, I pushed her off the villa balcony...

That scene is forever etched in my mind, deeply and indelibly, like a shadow that has shrouded me for many years.

When I came to my senses, I was leaning over the balcony, my hand outstretched downwards in an attempt to grab something.

Unfortunately, I couldn't catch her.

Sheng Changxiu fell from the third floor of the villa, but luckily survived. Unfortunately, she lost both legs.

I caused all of this myself; I ruined her life.

I was so desperate that all I wanted was to give her back one leg, because that's what I owed her.

If I don't pay it back, I don't think I'll ever forgive myself.

Later, the Sheng family repeatedly approached the Qi family to demand an explanation for Sheng Changxiu's ruined legs. The Qi family always dealt with it, because it was indeed my mistake, and everyone in the family was paying the price for it.

But the Sheng family's ambitions didn't stop there. Over time, their ugly true colors were fully revealed. Like leeches that can't get enough blood, they tried every means to attach themselves to the Qi family, trap the Qi family, and obtain huge profits from the Qi family to strengthen the Sheng family.

Before they could demand any benefits, they would always use the excuse that I had harmed Sheng Changxiu to justify their unscrupulous actions.

The Qi family's concession was sincere, but the Sheng family's attitude was infuriating. The Qi family also realized that this was a bottomless pit, and if they continued to indulge them, the Sheng family would take advantage of them again and again.

Therefore, the Qi family no longer accepts any requests from the Sheng family.

Having tasted the benefits offered by the Qi family, the Sheng family, whose momentum had been suppressed, would certainly not be content with this.
