Fanfiction 27: The Legend of Xiahou Yuan - Xiahou Ningyuan
Xiahou Yuan, courtesy name Qianli, was a soldier in Zhenrong. He was brave and fierce since he was young. At the age of seventeen, he volunteered to fight against Xia. At that time, Qu Duan, the supervisor of Tong'an Village, saw him and admired him, so he took him to his left and right to be his bodyguard.
Yuan was poor and uneducated, but he admired Duan's literary and martial arts, so he started to learn. Duan was amazed and taught him to read. Seeing his intelligence, he loved him even more. Duan had a fine horse named Tiexiang. He once said to people: "My family has two thousand-mile horses, one is Tiexiang and the other is Xiahou."
Yuan followed Duan as his right hand, served him respectfully, and often participated in the battles, breaking into the battle lines and stepping on swords, not sparing his life. Duan became more and more trusted by him.
In the third year of Jianyan, Qu Duan went to Tokyo and was transferred to the deputy commander of the imperial camp. Wu Jie, the commander of the army of Jingyuan Road, and his troops were taken over by him. The thief Shi Bin attacked Chang'an, and Jie attacked and killed him. Yuan had made several beheadings and was rewarded with merit. Jie loved his courage and asked him what he wanted. He replied, "Yuan knows that the commander treats me well, but I have received great kindness from Commander Qu, and I dare not forget it. I wish to get a good horse and go back to him." Jie was silent for a long time, clapped his hands and laughed, "Do you want to emulate Yunchang's escape alone?" So he reported Yuan's merits, appointed him as a student of the state, and gave him a good horse as a gift, and sent him to Tokyo. He went to the palace examination and was awarded the same Jinshi degree.
In the fourth year, he followed Duan to defeat Lou Shi at Yaoshan. Duan was appointed the commander-in-chief of the imperial camp cavalry for his merits, and was also appointed as a trusted and personal soldier of a distant general, and never left his side.
In the sixth year, he helped to pacify Western Xia.
In the tenth year, they fought against Jin at Huolu. Duan personally led the elite cavalry and broke through the enemy's army. The enemy fought desperately, and many of them dispersed and reunited. Yuan Yiduan went in and out of the enemy's formation, fought hand-to-hand, killed dozens of people, and died in battle at the age of 36. He was posthumously awarded the title of founding earl of Pingliang County.
Zi Ning was appointed Cheng Xin Lang by virtue of his father's influence. Qu Duan was raised in the house and treated with the same care as his two sons. When guests came to see him, he called him and said, "This is my Hu Zi." He became a Jinshi, served as the governor of Liangzhou, the governor of Hexi Road, and was successively appointed as the Shao Bao and the Jiedushi of Zhanghua Army. See the biography.
