Chapter Twenty-Four: The Road to the Underworld

"Ru Huan, where are you? Are you and your three sisters alright?" Zi Yuan looked up at the sky and saw the endless falling meteorites and the boundless swamp. A sense of sorrow rose in her heart.

"God, what did I do wrong? How will you punish me? Why did you separate me from my child and turn me into a monster?" Zi Yuan stood at the edge of the swamp, looking westward and sighing to the heavens.

Zi Yuan left the battlefield in the fifth year of the great war. Ever since she learned that her three daughters had come to this extremely dangerous world, her heart had been hanging in suspense and she had never been able to relax. Therefore, Zi Yuan also sensed that there were signs of defeat in the Qingqiu Divine Realm, so she decided to leave first, otherwise her life there would be uncertain.

"Sigh... why are you doing this to yourself?" Zi Yuan suddenly sighed from behind.

“You don’t understand because you have no children, no worries, no ties, so you don’t understand human emotions,” Zi Yuan said without turning around.

"I feel that you humans are always bound by these desires and passions, which is very bad for your spiritual realm. I have stayed in your human world for a long time and have seen many humans go astray for love and family, and become completely corrupted. I feel that the seven emotions and six desires in your human world are your human imprisonment, making you sink into these desires and unable to extricate yourself, until you die a mediocre and unproductive life."

"Yes, you're right, but it's precisely because we humans have these seven emotions and six desires that our lives are so rich and colorful, and that we are entangled in right and wrong, love and hate, unlike you."

"I have some news to tell you now, but I don't know if it's good news or not," the white fox said, standing behind the purple kite.

"Whose is it, Yi Tianluan's, or my four daughters'?" Zi Yuan turned to look at the white fox and asked.

"Do you know about the Severing Thoughts in Ru Huan's hands? This thing is a time-traveling device. It's the ultimate weapon for us scavengers on the battlefield of gods, and it's extremely rare. I initially gave it to Ru Huan without telling her about its function. Perhaps she has already discovered the secret of the Severing Thoughts. They are no longer in the Western Tenghui World, but have come to the Eastern Qingqiu Divine Realm, which is our world, only tens of thousands of miles away from our battlefield," the white fox said calmly.

"Are you telling the truth? They've already arrived? Where are they now?" Zi Yuan asked excitedly, grabbing the white fox's arm.

"I don't know either. I only know the general direction. It's tens of thousands of miles away from our battlefield, very far from here. We're almost at the edge of the Eastern Qingqiu Divine Realm now. Once we cross this swamp, the other side will be the Western Tenghui World!" the white fox said.

"Then I'll go back and find them now!" Zi Yuan said, preparing to return without delay.

"Sigh... why are your human emotions so complicated? Even if you find them, what then?" The white fox couldn't understand the purple iris at all.

"Find them and bring them home, even if it costs me my life!" Zi Yuan said.

"What's wrong with this place? I feel it's so much better than your mortal realm with its sparse Dao Qi. Why don't you want to stay here? You're like this, and so is Yi Tianluan. I don't know what's so good about your broken mortal realm," the white fox said, somewhat puzzled.

"Fallen leaves return to their roots, just like a tree. No matter how tall or thick you grow, the fallen leaves on the tree will eventually fall to the ground beneath the tree. This is also a sense of belonging," Zi Yuan said.

"Hehe, what bullshit sense of belonging? We beings of the battlefield of gods only know to go wherever is good. What about returning to one's roots? That's all the result of your humans' wild imaginations. If your human world has become uninhabitable for you humans, would you go back to the human world even if you die?"

"Yes, but I can't talk to you anymore. I'm going back to find my daughter!" Zi Yuan answered without hesitation, and then prepared to leave.

"You think this is really the edge of the Eastern Qingqiu Divine Realm? Are you sure this swamp is real? Are you sure everything around you is real?" Just as Zi Yuan was about to leave, Bai Hu suddenly asked.

"Is this your illusion?" Zi Yuan looked at the white fox behind her without any surprise, simply looking at the white fox calmly.

"Hmph! Zi Yuan, a traitor from the Eastern Qingqiu Divine Realm! She deserted in the face of battle and was captured by the War Supervisory Division. Because the traitor Zi Yuan was stubborn and resisted to the bitter end, she was executed on the spot by Hu Jiuxi of the War Supervisory Division as a warning to others!" Suddenly, the white fox behind her transformed into a red fox clad in golden and white divine armor. Two front paws slowly emerged from her cold hands, sharp and radiating a dense killing intent!

"You? You're underestimating me too much!" Zi Yuan looked at the red fox opposite her without any fear, and her aura spread out...

“A being like you is enough for me alone. Don’t think you can act with impunity just because you have Hu Meier of the White Fox Clan backing you up. Even if Hu Meier deserts in the face of battle, she will still die!” said Hu Jiuxi, the Red Fox.

"Want to kill me? Let's see if you have the ability!" A black chain appeared in Zi Yuan's hand! This black chain emitted waves of death energy!

With a low roar, Hu Jiuxi teleported to Zi Yuan's side, his sharp claws, capable of cutting through iron like mud, slashing towards Zi Yuan's neck. If she were hit, Zi Yuan would become a headless corpse!

Hu Jiuxi grinned maliciously as his claws plunged deep into the human's neck, then he yanked it open! A stream of warm liquid sprayed onto his face. Hu Jiuxi closed his eyes, savoring the rich smell of blood and the warmth. This taste of death was truly captivating for foxes, irresistible to them...

Hu Jiuxi stared expressionlessly at the corpse on the ground, then licked the blood from his claws with lingering satisfaction. Suddenly, his crimson pupils narrowed to slits! This was a warning from the fox of impending danger!

No sooner had Hu Jiuxi left than the black chain smashed a deep crater into the spot where he had just stood! The black chain continued to chase after Hu Jiuxi like a python!

"Clang clang clang..." A series of extremely rapid collisions occurred as Zi Yuan's black chain and Hu Jiuxi's sharp claws collided nearly a hundred times!

"Zi Yuan! Wake up! Didn't you hear what Yi Tianluan said when you came here? There's no weakling who can survive in this Battlefield of Gods. Your daughters, whose souls were severed, had no chance of being sent here. Even if they were incredibly lucky and managed to get here, they would be crushed into mincemeat by the pressure of this Battlefield of Gods in an instant! Stop having any illusions. If you want to find your daughters, go to the Nine Netherworld! If you're lucky, you might be able to find your daughters' souls there, hahaha..." Hu Jiuxi said while fighting against Zi Yuan.

"Trying to distract me? You've got the wrong idea!" Zi Yuan's heart tightened, but she didn't show it on her face. The main thing now was to kill Hu Jiuxi first, and then verify whether what he said was true.

"I don't know where Zi Yuan is now. If she finds out that her daughter is dead, I wonder how she will react. Sigh..." Yi Tianluan sat on the corpse crow and began to search for Zi Yuan's whereabouts with his divine sense. Suddenly, he sensed two very strong fluctuations of Dao energy in front of him!

Yi Tianluan sensed a very familiar Qi, and immediately steered the Corpse Crow to swoop down towards this incredibly familiar Qi...

"Brother, these creatures have already set up camp a hundred miles away from us. It seems they are preparing to attack us. Should we take advantage of their instability and catch them off guard?" the jackal-like creature asked.

"They're just a bunch of ants. Let them get into position first. We'll show them we're not some trash that can be provoked!" the ape-like creature said nonchalantly.

"Yes, let them despair first, then let them experience death, and only then let them know the luck of surviving. That way they will fear us and let us do whatever we want. Brother, your move is brilliant!" the jackal-like creature praised.

The next day, Mi Tian set up his formation and began to slowly advance into the territory of the ape-like creature, sweeping all the way through!

"Brother, our slave spirit army can't defeat these alien creatures. Should I go and teach them a lesson?" the jackal-like creature said, rubbing his hands together eagerly.

"No need. We are currently very short of resources. Let them help us deplete some of the slave spirits and lighten our burden. Let them linger for a while, and then we'll give them a good beating," the ape-like creature said calmly.

"Hehe, Big Brother is so thoughtful," said the jackal-like creature.

"Hold on tight! Don't get blown away by the wind in this tunnel, or it will be very dangerous!" The person in front shouted at Ru Huan and Pou Potian, who were being chased by the scarecrow.

While Ru Huan was dodging the elusive winds of time, she also had to avoid the blades of time within them. Just when Ru Huan and her group were being chased by the scarecrows and had nowhere to run, something on her chest was suddenly blown off by the winds of time!

When Ru Huan turned around, she realized that the black umbrella on her back had its strap broken by the wind and was drifting away!

"No! My sisters have been blown away!" Ru Huan cried out in alarm, completely ignoring Shang San in front of her and Xiao Po Hou behind her. Instead, she rode Duan Nian to chase after the black umbrella that was falling rapidly. Before Ru Huan could grab the black umbrella, the black umbrella containing her three sisters, Yan Hun Lan, and Mao Dan Teng was directly cut to pieces by several blows of time blades!

"No!" Ru Huan stared in terror as the black mist that suddenly emanated from the black umbrella was blown away by countless gusts of wind before it could even take shape! She vanished without even a scream! Ru Huan was devastated and knelt there, wailing loudly. But then she was enveloped by a gust of wind, followed by dizziness. Then she heard Shang San and Xiao Po Hou's screams, followed by their desperate screams...

"No!" Ru Huan screamed in terror, jolting awake. She opened her eyes and sat up abruptly!

"Where is this place? Shouldn't I be in the Battlefield of Gods world? How did I suddenly appear here?" Ru Huan looked around at the unfamiliar environment. Everything was gray and hazy, and the distant scenery was indistinct and could not be seen clearly at all.

Ru Huan found herself lying on the side of a dirt road. The dirt road stretched out to who knows where. Ru Huan looked at a rusty short knife next to her, which looked like it had been severely corroded by something.

Ru Huan picked up the rusty dagger with a puzzled look. Suddenly, the rusty dagger emitted a faint light, and then the tip of the blade pointed to a spot, as if guiding Ru Huan in the right direction.

Ru Huan examined the rusty dagger closely, then looked in the direction it pointed—to one end of this dirt road.

"Where exactly is this place? Shouldn't I be on the battlefield of the gods? I need to find my mother and master, and where are my sisters? And where are Chuopotian, Shangsan, and Mitian?" Ru Huan had many questions in her heart, but she couldn't answer them for herself. She could only follow the rusty short sword as it led her onto the dirt road, slowly heading towards the unknown...

"Why is there so much joss paper and ghost money everywhere? What kind of place is this?" Ru Huan walked around, looking at her surroundings. She found that the dirt road was covered with white joss paper and ghost money, and the further she went, the more and thicker the joss paper and ghost money became!

Ru Huan carefully stepped onto the soft joss paper. She didn't know how long she had been searching, but the faint light emanating from the rusty dagger guided her, and Ru Huan could only follow along.

Besides the thick layer of joss paper and paper money, very dilapidated and incomplete paper figures began to appear on this dirt road. These paper figures were exactly the same as those used by the dead in the human world, with pale faces, eerie blush, dark eyes, and lips so red they looked like they were about to bleed. Some only had the upper half of their bodies left, some only had half a head left, and some only had a few scraps of paper and skeletons made of bamboo strips left...

Ru Huan looked at the strange paper figures and continued walking forward. She had been in contact with these things for a long time when she was with her master, so she wasn't afraid of them at all. She just felt that it was a bit strange that these paper figures appeared on this dirt road. However, what Ru Huan didn't know was that after she passed, all the paper figures stared at her and then very slowly followed behind her...

No one knew how long this dirt road was. Ru Huan kept walking. The road was very straight, with no bends at all, stretching straight into the hazy, grayish-white fog...

More and more paper figures appeared by the roadside, and most of them were no longer incomplete; more and more were intact. However, Ru Huan felt as if these paper figures were staring intently at her. It was probably just her imagination. After all, this place was too eerie, and she was probably being influenced by the environment. Ru Huan comforted herself.

A grave! Ru Huan vaguely saw a mound of earth not far from the side of the dirt road, with two people standing motionless on either side of it! Ru Huan's first thought was that the mound was a grave!

Gradually, more and more mounds of earth appeared. Ru Huan was right; all of these mounds were graves. On either side of each grave stood a pair of paper figures, a man and a woman. Some of the men were dressed in black, and some in white. Some of the women were dressed in bright red, and some in white. It looked very eerie!

Ru Huan's hand was already inside the cloth bag she carried with her, ready for any unexpected situation! Because something was increasingly wrong here! It felt like she had walked into a graveyard!

"Waaah..." A faint sobbing sound suddenly came from the side of the dirt road! The sobbing was very ethereal and elusive. The talismans in Ru Huan's bag were already soaked with sweat from her palms, and Ru Huan was no longer as calm as before!

And so, Ru Huan continued walking forward, the faint sound of crying following her, circling her left and right along the dirt road, wanting to get closer but also very wary!

"Mother, where are you now? Sisters, where are you now? Master, what should I do now? It's so scary here, I'm a little scared. Where are you? Please help me!" Ru Huan's emotions were slowly being affected by the faint crying. She felt very, very sad, but she didn't know why she was so sad.

Suddenly, the rusty dagger in Ru Huan's hand burst into a dazzling light, illuminating the area dozens of meters around her! Ru Huan suddenly felt herself regain her senses!

Ru Huan opened her eyes and realized that she was almost out of the range of this dirt road. Just as the short knife in her hand emitted a strong light, she noticed a grave not far away. This grave was different from the other graves. There was no paper figure on this grave, only a soul-guiding banner stuck in the middle of the grave mound. A white figure stood by the grave and looked in this direction!

Ru Huan broke out in a cold sweat, not knowing when she had been bewitched by the eerie crying! If it weren't for this rusty dagger, she might have been lured away by the white ghostly figure as well!

Ru Huan wiped the cold sweat from her face, then looked at the dagger that had saved her life. She realized that this rusty dagger was even more rusty than before! It looked like it might fall apart at any moment, but it still emitted a faint light, though the light wasn't as bright as it used to be!

Ru Huan could only keep her head down and walk quickly forward. No matter what noises or disturbances occurred on either side of the dirt road, Ru Huan ignored them, didn't listen, and didn't look. She just kept her head down and hurried on her way. Although she didn't know where this dirt road led, Ru Huan knew that as long as she stood in the middle of this dirt road, those strange things on both sides wouldn't be able to harm her...

More and more graves appeared on both sides of the dirt road, and from time to time, faint and uncertain cries could be heard, along with eerie laughter that seemed to come from near and far.

Ru Huan walked faster and faster, because countless footsteps on both sides of the dirt road seemed to be about to enter it! Several times, Ru Huan saw pale, pitch-black hands, some with scattered, rotting remains, some just bare bones, or hands covered in lividity, reaching in from both sides of the dirt road to grope for something! Accompanied by sounds like a person struggling to breathe before dying, it was extremely eerie!

As Ru Huan suppressed her fear, she began to run forward at top speed, not even daring to wipe away the tears in her eyes, for fear that she might be grabbed by the ghostly hands reaching out from both sides if she wasn't careful...

"Hmm? There seems to be a light ahead," Ru Huan saw a faint light appearing ahead, like a lamp, its dim yellow light appearing and disappearing in the hazy fog...

Ru Huan thought she was hallucinating, but the further she walked, the closer the lamp seemed to get. Suddenly, Ru Huan felt her body filled with power and began to run towards the dim light...

"Are you confident?" one person asked, looking at the person next to him.

"I don't know, but the hospital can't treat it at all, so we can only try these folk remedies. We can only give it a shot, they're like miracle cures!" another person said.

"If we can't save them, neither of us will get away with it!"

"I feel that this person should be able to bring back Ruhuan's soul."

"Why? Just because he said that Ru Huan's soul is trapped on the road to the Yellow Springs and that he can go down to the Yellow Springs to bring Ru Huan's soul back. Brother, we are the people's police. We should not be involved in such idealism. Your kind of thinking is very dangerous!"

"I don't care what ideology it is, as long as it can save Ruhuan's life, it's a good ideology. If you're afraid, you can leave by yourself. If Ruhuan really can't be saved, I'm not doing this anymore!"

"What nonsense are you spouting? We've climbed our way up from the very bottom, and you're just going to give up like this?"

"Without Ruhuan, what's the point of living in this world?"

Ru Huan couldn't hear the two people arguing outside at all. She felt that the closer she got to the light, the more difficult it became. She felt like she was trapped in a very sticky swamp, her whole body stuck in it. Not to mention moving forward, she was even having difficulty breathing!

"Damn it!" The extraordinary person who was summoning Ru Huan's soul suddenly frowned and shouted.

"What's the matter"?

"Your companion is trapped inside; those things don't want her to leave!"

"You're just spreading rumors. Keep making things up. Are you trying to get us to pay more?" Another policeman looked at the so-called master with disdain. He didn't believe in these supernatural things at all. Although his operation this time was very strange, he thought it was just some criminals pretending to be gods trying to mislead him in his investigation. The three souls and seven spirits, the nine netherworlds and the Yellow Springs Road, were all nonsense.

"Shut up! What's wrong with the master?" Another policeman interrupted his colleague who had come with him, and asked with great concern.

"At first everything went smoothly, without any major incidents, but just as you were about to leave this Road to the Underworld, your companions' souls were entangled by those evil spirits inside! It was extremely dangerous!" said the person in the yellow Taoist robe.

"Is there any way to drive away these evil spirits?" the policeman asked anxiously.

"There's no way around it. We're like fishing now. I've already been baited and cast out. I'm just waiting for your colleague's soul to see the bait I've cast and lure her over. She's already here, but my bait has been discovered by another evil spirit, who's preparing to eat it and follow my line into the human world!" the Taoist priest said, frowning.

"What should we do? Isn't Ruhuan in a very dangerous situation?" The policeman was very anxious, but he didn't know what to do either!

"Yes, but there is a way, it just depends on whether you two have the courage to save your colleague." The Taoist priest frowned, his eyes constantly fixed on the dim soul lamp in front of him.

"What method? As long as it can get Ru Huan out of here, I'm not afraid even if you send me to hell," the policeman asked urgently.

"Just say how much more you want, don't make a fuss here. After all this time, your true colors are finally showing!" Another policeman said with an expression that said, "I've seen right through you."

"I can send you two down to rescue your companion. It's up to you two to see if you have the guts. The situation is extremely critical. You two need to make a decision quickly!" The Taoist priest ignored the policeman who didn't believe him and looked at the other policeman.

"Okay, hurry up and perform the ritual. I'll go down and save her right away. Don't ask him; he's coming too!" The policeman agreed without hesitation, and even his colleague who was with him made the decision.

"Alright, let's not delay. Come here, grab this red string with your left hand, and then..." The Taoist priest quickly wrapped the red string around the middle fingers of the two policemen's left hands, and then quickly drew a talisman with cinnabar on the palm of one of the policemen's right hands while chanting incantations...

"Imperial Edict!" The Taoist priest roared, then breathed a burst of flame at the two policemen! The two policemen were so frightened that they immediately closed their eyes...

"Damn it, this old man singed my hair!" the policeman exclaimed, then frantically patted his head as if trying to slap off the flames from his hair!

"Where is this? Isn't it noon? How did it suddenly get dark?" Another policeman opened his eyes and looked around. Apart from the hazy fog, he couldn't see anything!

"Where did this old man lead us? It looks so creepy." Another policeman noticed the place and realized there was no flame on his head at all.

"This lamp looks so familiar, like I've seen it somewhere before," the policeman said, looking at the dim light in front of him with some doubt, and then reached out to take the lamp in his hand.

"Don't touch it! This is Ruhuan's soul lamp. If we take it off, Ruhuan won't be able to find us anymore," another policeman quickly stopped his companion's reckless behavior.

"Why are there suddenly three lights in front of us?" Ru Huan asked breathlessly, looking at the dim yellow lights in the distance. Suddenly, there were three lights, making her area much brighter!

"Could this be the Netherworld?" The policeman looked at the dirt road beneath his feet, feeling somewhat incredulous.

"Saving lives is the priority, who cares about the road!" Another policeman began looking around, trying to find out where his colleague Ruhuan was.

"Ruhuan, where are you? We're here to rescue you! Ruhuan, your mom's calling you home for dinner! Ruhuan..." Just as the policeman was looking around, his companion used his hands as a megaphone and shouted.

"It sounds like someone is calling me from ahead!" Ru Huan heard faint shouts from ahead, as if someone was calling her, but she was already exhausted and had no strength to take another step forward!

"Ruhuan, are you there? Your mother called us to come find you, where are you? Ruhuan..." the policeman continued to wail.

"I'm here, save me!" Ru Huan shouted, raising the nearly extinguished dagger in her hand with all her might.

But her two companions seemed not to hear her cries for help at all, and continued to call her name. Ru Huan felt the pressure around her increasing, as if it was going to crush her to death. Although there was nothing around her, the pressure from all sides was terrifying, like being hundreds of meters underwater!

"Wait a minute, I think I heard someone answer!" Another policeman quickly stopped his colleague from yelling and said.

"Really? I didn't hear anything. Are you hallucinating?" the policeman said, somewhat disbelievingly.

"Look what's up ahead?" The policeman suddenly noticed a very faint light not far away, like a flickering candle struggling in the wind!

"It must be her, let's go save her!" The policeman looked at the faint light in the distance and began to walk towards it, but before he could take a step, he was frightened by what he saw in front of him...

People! This place is packed with people! As far as the eye can see, there are countless heads, pale ashen faces and eyes without pupils. These people, with only the whites of their eyes showing, are staring intently at the three lamps in front of them, as if they want to snatch them at any moment!

"Holy crap, how did so many people suddenly appear here? This is illogical!" The two policemen were startled by the sheer number of people; they all looked very abnormal.

"Brother, we're locals, we're here to find someone, could you please make way for us?" the policeman said quickly upon seeing so many people.

"Police are conducting an investigation. All unrelated personnel must leave, or you will be detained and fined for obstructing official business!" Another policeman saw that the light in the distance was about to go out and became very anxious. He immediately revealed his identity to get everyone to leave, but they didn't move at all and kept staring intently at the three lights behind them!

"It's too late! You stay here and guard these three lights, I'm going to rescue people!" The policeman said, preparing to draw his gun and force his way in, only to find his waist empty—he had no pistol. What to do? He had to take the plunge! The policeman steeled himself and began to squeeze into the strange crowd…

A suffocating pressure rushed towards him! It almost made the policeman faint. He endured the dizziness and nausea of suffocation, feeling as if the people around him were squeezing him so tightly that there wasn't even a sliver of space left! And they were slowly squeezing him in!

"Get out of my way, you bastards!" The policeman tried his best to push away all the people crowding around him. As soon as he touched these people, he felt a chill that went deep into his bones, which then spread rapidly throughout his body. The policeman felt his body begin to go numb!

"Sanlang, are you alright?" The policeman standing guard in front of the three lamps saw his colleague surrounded and seemed to be in serious trouble, so he quickly called out.

The policeman named Sanlang tried to call for his companions to save him, but his throat felt like it was blocked by ice, and he couldn't make a sound at all!

Just as Sanlang felt he was about to be frozen to death by the bone-chilling cold, a mysterious yellow light suddenly emanated from his right hand. A very warm aura slowly spread from his right hand throughout his body. Sanlang felt his body finally regain its senses. Wherever this mysterious yellow light passed, all the strange people scattered as if they had seen something terrifying!

Three Wolves looked at the still-emitting mysterious yellow light in their palms with some confusion, then looked at the light that was about to go out in the distance, and suddenly rushed towards that faint light that was floating and sinking...

"Ru Huan, Ru Huan, wake up, Ru Huan!" San Lang looked anxiously at Ru Huan, who had fallen to the ground, his face slowly turning pale...

"You can't die! I've come to save you!" After saying that, Sanlang carried Ruhuan on his back, then put one arm around Ruhuan and used the other hand, which emitted a mysterious yellow light, to force back these strange people. However, when these people saw Sanlang carrying Ruhuan, one of them suddenly jumped onto Sanlang's back and pressed down on Ruhuan. Then a second one jumped on as well...

Sanlang's legs trembled violently, as if he would collapse at any moment and be crushed on the dirt road by the increasing number of people on his back. His throat burned with pain, and he was almost unconscious while holding Ruhuan's mother.

"Since God wants us to die here, as long as you're by my side, I don't care where we are!" Sanlang had reached his limit. With the last bit of feeling in his hand that was holding Ruhuan, he gently patted her, as if to comfort her and tell her not to be afraid that he would be with her. Suddenly, Sanlang felt a tremendous force on his back. He could no longer hold on and collapsed to the ground. A smell of blood and rotting mud filled his senses. Then he felt the weight on his body begin to pile up, as if it wouldn't stop until it crushed him into the yellow earth...

"The Three Wolves have been gone for so long, why haven't they made a move yet? Haven't they found Ruhuan yet? Or was that light not far away just a trap to lure the Three Wolves in? What exactly is this charlatan trying to do?" The policeman guarding the three lamps waited and waited, but his colleague didn't come. He was a little puzzled. He still felt that these scenes were all staged by the charlatan to scare him, but he still admired the charlatan quite a bit. The environment and atmosphere here were much better than those cringe-worthy things produced by some so-called big directors these days.

"Sanlang, where are you? You didn't team up with that old man to scare me, did you?" The policeman looked at the sea of heads not far away. He was all alone here. To say he wasn't afraid would be self-deception.

"Huh, why are two of the lights about to go out?" The policeman looked at the three lights he was guarding and said that two of them were slowly getting dimmer and dimmer, as if they were about to go out! It felt a bit strange.

"What's going on?" The policeman scratched his head, racking his brains but still couldn't figure out what was wrong.

"Sanlang, where are you? I'm coming to find you! Don't hide! Where are you?" The policeman shouted as he walked in the direction Sanlang had come from...

"Why is it so crowded? Can you please stop pushing me? I'm not comfortable at all." The policeman had only taken five steps when he was squeezed so tightly that he could hardly breathe. But no matter how much the policeman pleaded, these people didn't say a word. They just stood there quietly, determined to squeeze the policeman until he was suffocated and became one of their own before they would stop!

"I told you not to push me! Don't push me!" The policeman felt it was getting harder and harder to breathe, and he quickly stretched out his hands to try to push all these people away from him!

"Hiss, why is it so cold? How can these people be so cold! Besides, where did this charlatan find so many extras? And they all look so creepy? Do these people have ice hidden inside their bodies? Tsk tsk tsk, these extras are so dedicated these days!" The policeman thought to himself, then grabbed a person at random and started groping them to see if they really had ice hidden inside their clothes.

"Damn, I knew it! How could this charlatan have so much money to hire so many extras? Turns out they're all fake, made of paper! Hahaha... When I see this charlatan, I'm going to make a good laugh at him. He's always pretending to be a ghost. Sanlang, come out! Stop hiding! I know you're hiding in these paper figures to scare me. Hehehe... I'm not afraid!" The policeman laughed heartily, then held up the paper figure he had torn beside him, saying with great delight.

But before he could even enjoy his joy for long, the invisible pressure from all sides suddenly became many times stronger than before. Now, apart from his two hands which were holding up the paper figure, the policeman felt as if his entire body was being squeezed into a piece of paper!
