Chapter 9 Dependence
"That's right. If it were my daughter, I would never let her marry such a man. He can even lay hands on a little girl. He's truly a beast."
The corridor in front was filled with sounds of spitting and contempt.
Shen Sangsang stood there, a smile on the corner of his mouth at this moment.
Such gossip can be more intense, and it would be best if it were everywhere.
Just as she was lost in her own thoughts, she didn't notice that a figure appeared behind her.
The voices of the people at the front of the corridor gradually faded away.
The people in front had left, so Shen Sangsang naturally planned to continue moving forward. However, when she just raised her foot, she saw a dark shadow appear under her feet.
Shen Sangsang turned around immediately. Shen Yuehuai, who was entertaining guests in the banquet hall, was leaning against a wall behind her, smoking.
Shen Sangsang's heart was beating wildly. The corridor was very quiet, and smoke surrounded Shen Yuehuai's expressionless face.
She stuttered, "Uncle Shen, Uncle Shen, why are you behind me?"
After Shen Yuehuai put out the cigarette in his hand, he finally raised his head and looked at her: "Are you admiring your masterpiece?"
"How could that be? What are you talking about?"
Shen Yuehuai looked at the panic that flashed across her eyes, and he suddenly walked towards her step by step.
Shen Sangsang watched him approach, and she subconsciously stepped back.
Shen Yuehuai kept approaching until he forced the man into a corner.
Shen Sangsang's face turned pale, not knowing what he was going to do. After seeing the distance between them, she pressed her body against the wall behind her.
Shen Yuehuai caught her in a corner and whispered, "Sangsang, is this the gift you gave me after I haven't been home for two years?"
He hasn't been back for two years. It's true that he hasn't been back for two years. Two years ago, when Shen Sangsang was a freshman, he was stationed abroad for two years due to official business.
During those two years, Shen Sangsang rarely met him.
The reason for coming back two months ago was because of Mrs. Shen’s birthday.
During these two years, he was a stranger to her.
Shen Yuehuai stared at the complex emotions in her eyes: "Why, in just two years, have you become so unfamiliar with me?"
"You've been away for the past few years, and I've missed you so much. How could I feel like a stranger?"
She spoke flattering words.
Shen Yuehuai raised an eyebrow: "Oh? Do you miss me?"
"Of course I miss you."
"Then where's my gift for you?"
He pressed closer, forcing her to retreat to the point where she had no way out. She wished she could turn herself into a piece of paper and press herself against the wall.
"I have written to you twice. Did you receive them?" he continued to ask.
Shen Sangsang's face was blank, and she obviously had no recollection of these things. There was even a thin layer of sweat on her forehead.
Seeing her expression, Shen Yuehuai laughed instantly, and actually laughed out loud: "Is this what you miss? Sangsang, after not seeing you for two years, you even fell in love with lying."
Two years ago, Shen Sangsang was very attached to Shen Yuehuai.
It should be the first few years after she came to the Shen family, she stayed by his side.
At that time, she was sensitive and fragile, and could not even recognize a few words. Because she grew up in an orphanage, she was bullied all day long and was even unwilling to speak.
It was he who kept her by his side, taught her knowledge every day, and it was he who guided her step by step until she started to speak.
He would hire many teachers for her, let her learn ballet and piano, and take her hiking and skiing outdoors.
As time went by, she began to act like a normal little girl and became extremely dependent on him.
Obviously, she came to the Shen family to be a maid, but her food, clothing and other expenses were not at all consistent with those of a maid. He almost pampered her in the palm of his hand.
