Chapter 363 There's nothing to be afraid of!
He succeeded!
Hader's attitude has changed, almost exactly the same as in his previous life!
Thankfully, thankfully, the fate between him and Had didn't go wrong at all!
"Knock knock knock!"
A clear knock broke the ambiguous atmosphere in the lounge.
A cool, steady voice came through the door, "My lord, are you inside?"
When Michele heard this noise, her brows furrowed noticeably.
It's Aaron! Hader's queen!
He arrived just in time; if he hadn't taken down Had first, Aaron would have ruined his plans!
Hader's movements visibly stiffened, and he had no choice but to release the female insect in his arms.
He quickly composed himself and called out towards the door, "I'm fine, Aaron."
After saying this, Hadr turned to look at Michele, giving him a reassuring, gentle smile. "What I said today was a bit harsh; I hope you don't mind. From now on... let's keep in touch, okay?"
His eyes held a subtle, almost imperceptible hint.
Michele blushed at the opportune moment and nodded slightly, "Yes, it is my honor to be friends with Lord Hader."
Seeing this, Had felt much better.
He took a step forward, intending to open the door for Aaron, when Michele suddenly grabbed his coat.
Hader raised an eyebrow and looked at Michele, who glanced worriedly at the doorway and timidly whispered, "What if... your lord doesn't like me? Will he not want me to get close to you?"
He subtly sowed discord between himself and Aaron in front of Had.
Had scoffed, his tone unconsciously carrying the disdain a male insect often shows towards a female, "Don't worry about him. He has no right to stop me from having my way."
He enjoyed the feeling of being fought over by female insects, who even competed for his attention.
Michelle then playfully shook his sleeve, "Isn't it a bit inappropriate for you to treat your queen like this?"
Hader shrugged indifferently. "If I don't treat him that way, and he really doesn't like you, are you planning to never see me again?"
"Oh dear, Your Excellency Hader, you're so mean... I'm not talking to you anymore..."
He pretended to be embarrassed and annoyed, turning his back to avoid looking at Had, which made Had burst into laughter.
The knocking on the door sounded again, slightly louder than before. "Master?"
Hader frowned, ultimately abandoning the plan he wanted to do because of his status as an outsider.
"The engagement party outside should be over. Let's go out together."
As he spoke, he walked towards the door first.
Michele naturally followed obediently behind Had.
Soon, the door to the lounge opened, and Aaron saw Michael standing next to Had, but only glanced at him briefly before looking away.
It was as if he hadn't seen anything at all.
“This is Michele Lanetta. He just helped me. You can have the bug take him back later.”
Had gave a brief instruction, and seeing Aaron nod, he turned to Michael and said, "You just go out with the servant insect in a bit, leave the rest to me."
“Yes, thank you, Lord Hader.” Michael looked at Hader with a wistful expression, his eyes filled with reluctance.
He left almost constantly looking back, which greatly pleased Hader.
Aaron stood quietly to the side, watching the two insects, Michael and Had, perform, his heart filled with disdain.
If it weren't for Michele standing behind Hader, with her undisguised provocation and smugness, he might have actually felt a little sorry for her.
Now, it's just a case of a broken pot with a broken lid; they deserve it.
After Michele left, Aaron followed Had into the lounge.
He closed the door behind him, walked straight to Had, and without saying a word, knelt down on one knee with his right knee on the ground.
“My lord,” he said, his head bowed, his voice calm and even, “it is my grave dereliction of duty that I failed to detect and prevent you from being drugged in time. Please punish me.”
As he spoke, he took out a military dagger from his boot with his left hand, reversed the tip, and intended to stab his right shoulder blade without hesitation.
"Stop!" Had clicked his tongue impatiently, stopping the knife from falling.
He stared coldly at Aaron. "What? Trying to stab yourself in the back here? Want all the nobles' insects to come and watch, drawn by the smell of blood?"
Hader lowered his voice and scolded, his face full of disgust.
There are no medical bays here, so if Aaron gets injured, the insects will easily think of who caused his injury.
After all, for an A-level female military officer, and a general at that, to be seriously injured without making a sound is something no other insect besides her male lord could do.
He didn't want other insects to know that he had this fetish for torturing insects in private.
While it might be more satisfying to torture insects on royal territory, the risks are too high, and it's unnecessary.
Aaron obediently put down the dagger, still kneeling upright. "This was my oversight. Please give me your instructions, my lord."
Hader straightened his collar and gave him a cold glance. "Then you'll have to atone for your sins. Go and find out if the drug I took today is related to that female insect named Michele from earlier."
“Yes, my lord.” Aaron replied without hesitation.
He slowly lowered his eyes, concealing the thoughts in them.
Investigating such sordid affairs on royal territory, and involving the infamous Lanetta family?
This is simply an impossible task.
If the Thomas family were still the same family that could stand at the top of all noble families by relying on the military, he wouldn't have any worries.
But now the Thomas family is bankrupt. If it weren't for His Highness the First Prince showing mercy, their Second Legion might not even have had a chance to survive.
Aaron knew that even if he investigated, he wouldn't get any results, but he couldn't refuse the task given to him by Harlan.
After so many years together, he knew clearly that the punishment he would have to bear after rejecting Aaron was something he was unwilling to face.
Just as he was rapidly weighing in his mind how to deal with this hot potato, the military-grade encrypted computer on his wrist gave a slight jolt.
A new message appeared on the screen—
[Sender: First Army Corps Headquarters]
[Message: General Aaron Thomas, please arrive at the First Army General's office promptly at 9:00 AM tomorrow for important military matters.]
What happened?
Hader seemed to notice Aaron's change as well, and asked a question casually.
Aaron immediately snapped out of his daze and said, "It's a message from the military. They want me to go to the First Legion tomorrow. There should be some urgent mission."
Even when the Thomas family was at its peak, no female officer would reveal information within the military.
So Harder didn't ask any further questions.
He nodded slightly. "Yes, work hard in the military lately, and don't embarrass the Thomas family."
"Yes, my lord."
Aaron drooped his eyelids, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with his statement.
After all, the Thomas family had gone bankrupt, and they had lost all face when Simon was arrested.
There's absolutely nothing to be afraid of!
