Chapter 53 Five More Servings of Fried Chicken
Wang Wei and Fatty Miao exchanged a glance, their eyes simultaneously landing on the plate of fried chicken.
"Wow, this looks pretty good...not bad." Fatty Miao leaned closer for a look, raised an eyebrow, "It's fried quite well, but...it's just so-so. You try it, if it's bad we won't eat it."
Wang Wei didn't say anything, but simply picked up a piece of fried chicken and took a small bite.
"Crack—"
A crisp sound, accompanied by the burst of savory chicken broth in his mouth, instantly filled his taste buds.
"...What's going on?" Wang Wei's eyes lit up, and before he could even close his mouth, he quickly took a second bite.
The chicken skin is fried until golden and crispy, making a crunchy sound when you bite into it, while the chicken meat inside is tender and juicy. The spices are just right, neither too strong nor too greasy, but rather highlight the natural deliciousness of the chicken.
"This...this is even better than McDonald's, right?" Wang Wei mumbled, his mouth full of fried chicken, and gave a vague thumbs up.
"What the hell?!" Fatty Miao, skeptical, picked up a piece, and the moment he took a bite, his eyes widened. "Holy crap! This isn't McDonald's? What is this made of? It smells amazing!"
"This fried chicken... crispy skin, tender meat, and incredibly fragrant! Who's the chef?!" Fatty Miao ate two pieces in a row, asking vaguely as he chewed.
Wang Wei was too preoccupied to answer; only one thought occupied his mind:
"This fried chicken is amazing."
He watched the fried chicken dwindle on his plate, sighed contentedly, as if he had suddenly rediscovered the happy times he spent with his brothers in his youth, singing, eating snacks, and bragging.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen...
Su Yingxue gently wiped her hands, glanced at the oil pan that had just been used for frying, and then checked the remaining ingredients. A slight smile appeared on her lips.
She didn't speak, but she understood—
Her first battle was a success.
Another order came in.
Meng Cong rushed into the kitchen again. "A10, five servings of fried chicken wings."
"Smells so good, fried chicken wings!" Chen Ru strolled leisurely out of the third-floor chess and card room. She had just finished setting up the equipment, and everything was working perfectly. The aroma of fried chicken permeating the air was like an invisible thread, gently tugging at her olfactory nerves, making her blurt out the word.
"Sister Chen, Xiao Hui at the front desk downstairs said that the chef Fei Fei hired is making fried chicken in the kitchen!" Assistant Manager Liao Ming replied with a smile. The front desk staff can see the customers' orders. Chen Ru nodded slightly and didn't say anything more. A sense of curiosity welled up in her heart, and she walked towards the kitchen, calling out as she went, "Come on, let's go take a look."
The two hurried towards the small kitchen on the first floor. Before they even stepped into the kitchen, they heard Meng Cong's chattering voice: "Xiao Su! Your chicken wings are amazing! What other delicious dishes can you make?" His tone was full of amazement and anticipation.
"I'm older than you," Su Yingxue replied calmly, her hands moving without pause. She skillfully sprinkled on the secret seasoning, and the freshly fried chicken wings emitted an enticing aroma that instantly filled the entire kitchen. That rich fragrance seemed to possess a magical power, sweeping away any unpleasant odors that might have been present in the kitchen, leaving only a mouthwatering aroma. Especially the secret sauce sprinkled on the golden, tempting chicken wings, added a touch of spiciness, as if dancing a lively dance on the tip of the tongue.
"Ahem." Liao Ming stood at the doorway and deliberately cleared his throat to attract the attention of the people inside.
Chen Ru walked lightly into the kitchen, her gaze landing on Su Yingxue. Su Yingxue was already dressed neatly, her white chef's uniform clean and tidy, her hair neatly tied up, and she wore a mask, looking professional and capable. Chen Ru looked her up and down, secretly approving, then smiled and nodded: "Hello, I'm the manager of this Golden Harbor store, you can just call me Sister Chen."
Su Yingxue looked up at the beautiful store manager, Chen, in front of her. Chen's long, smooth hair was tied up high, and she exuded a decisive and efficient aura. She was wearing a yellow casual suit, which gave her a mature and sophisticated air. Su Yingxue then glanced at the slightly younger, shorter, and stouter man next to Chen and realized that this was Assistant Store Manager Liao Ming.
Su Yingxue smiled politely and replied, "Hello, Sister Chen, hello, Brother Liao. I'm Su Yingxue, you can just call me Xiao Su." As she spoke, her hands continued working, quickly plating the fried chicken wings. Soon, the last plate of fried chicken was ready.
"So much!" Chen Ru was taken aback. It was Friday afternoon, a weekday, and the shop was usually quiet. Yet this customer had ordered five plates of fried chicken in one go—it had to be incredibly delicious to warrant such a generous order.
“She didn’t smile when she bumped into me just now.” Meng Cong couldn’t help but feel uneasy when he saw Su Yingxue’s smile towards Chen Ru.
"Meng Cong, have you finished dealing with things in the main hall?" Liao Ming couldn't help but urge him.
"I'll go right away after I finish delivering the fried chicken." Meng Cong quickly put on a smile, found a large tray, and carefully delivered the five portions of fried chicken to the A10 private room.
"Did they all order from the same private room?" Chen Ru glanced at the kitchen order, her mind filled with doubt.
“They’re all A10,” Su Yingxue replied, while busily wiping the stove with practiced ease.
Chen Ru watched Meng Cong pick up the tray and hurry forward, then turned to look at Su Yingxue. She exchanged a glance with Liao Ming, then said gently, "Xiao Su, I've arranged a place for you to stay. There's staff dormitory nearby, and considering you were introduced by Miss Feifei, I've specially arranged a single room for you. Please feel free to ask if you need anything."
Seeing Chen Ru's kind and approachable demeanor, Su Yingxue relaxed a bit and, no longer being polite, said directly, "Sister Chen, I'd like to renovate the snack area. Try to use fresh food as much as possible, and reduce or eliminate the use of semi-finished products. Snacks made with semi-finished products don't taste very good." She hoped to improve the quality of the snack area and provide customers with a better taste experience.
"Hmm. We'll think about it. We can talk again when you're free." Chen Ru remained enthusiastic on the surface, but her mind was racing. She needed time to weigh Su Yingxue's suggestion.
"You go ahead with your work, Liao Ming and I won't bother you any longer. By the way, Chef David will be helping you with dinner, so you two can practice together a bit." Chen Ru said with a smile, then turned and left the kitchen.
Liao Ming smiled at Su Yingxue and followed Chen Ru away.
Su Yingxue watched their departing figures and sighed softly. She knew in her heart that her suggestion regarding the renovation of the food court would probably be difficult to implement anytime soon. Oh well, she'd just have to take it one step at a time and find another opportunity to discuss it properly later.
