Is Mr. Nice Guy angry?

Is Mr. Nice Guy angry?

"Dr. Shen, you sound excellent!" Su Wanqing was obviously very interested and smiled even more. "Linlin and I are both surgeons, so we must have a lot in common! Yuanyuan, this is a great opportunity. You must arrange it well and see if you can get the two children to meet."

"No problem, Mom!" Zhou Yuan agreed happily, and planned excitedly, "I'll contact Xiaoya later to see when Dr. Shen is free. We're in the same hospital, so it shouldn't be difficult to create an opportunity for a chance encounter or to have dinner together!"

Gu Ting didn't hum this time, but just looked at his brother thoughtfully, as if he noticed something slightly wrong under Gu Yansheng's overly quiet appearance, but he couldn't tell what it was.

Gu Yansheng felt like an outsider, listening to his family's heated discussion about how to match Jiang Lin with another strange, exceptional woman. Every word pierced his eardrums. He forced himself to pick up the spoon and mechanically stirred the soup in his bowl, trying to mask the inner turmoil.

Gu Yansheng, carrying the heavy thermos, walked down the familiar corridor of the hospital's surgical building. The cold, strong smell of disinfectant replaced the warm aroma of home-cooked meals and only intensified the heavy, suffocating feeling in his chest.

In the thermos was a bowl of chicken soup that his mother had specially prepared for Jiang Lin, simmering for hours on low heat. It had the aroma of home. He headed straight for the neurosurgery department's doctor's lounge, which also served as a small dining room. At this hour, if Jiang Lin had just finished surgery, he would most likely be there to take a short break.

The dining room door was ajar. Gu Yansheng was about to push it open, but there was no one inside. He was just about to place the thermos on the small table against the wall when the sound of conversation from far away in the corridor drifted in clearly.

"...Is this true? Director Liu really plans to introduce his daughter to Director Jiang?" A young male doctor's voice was filled with a bit of gossip excitement.

"Absolutely true!" another calmer female voice chimed in. "After the meeting last Friday, I heard Director Liu and Director Jiang mention something like, 'Young people should communicate more. My daughter is also a medical student and just finished her residency training. You two will definitely have something in common.'"

"Wow! Director Liu's daughter? She is a famous talent and beauty in our hospital! What does Director Jiang say?" the male voice asked.

"What else can I say?" The woman's voice was filled with a hint of helplessness. "You know Director Jiang's temper. He didn't even raise his eyelids, just replied, 'I'm busy, not considering it,' and then took the medical records and left. Director Liu was a little embarrassed on the spot..."

"Tsk tsk, worthy of being called the King of Hell Jiang, not giving any face at all. But it's also true, people who want to introduce Director Jiang to a date can line up from our department to the outpatient hall. When has he ever given anyone a good face? Last time, that Doctor Wang in the cardiology department..."

Gu Yansheng could not hear the rest of the conversation.

"Director Liu's daughter...just finished her regular training...I'm sure we have something in common..."

Those words, like barbed hooks, pierced his already troubled nerves. His sister-in-law Zhou Yuan's words at dinner, "Dr. Shen, from the cardiac surgery department, is exceptional," were still fresh in his mind, and now, "Director Liu's daughter, a talented and beautiful woman," was added to the mix!

In one night, just one night, he heard twice that someone was trying to push a strange, outstanding woman in front of Jiang Lin!

The heavy lump of ice in his chest seemed to ignite instantly, burning with a sharp, stinging pain. He felt dizzy, and his fingers gripping the handle of the thermos were so tight that his knuckles turned white and his fingertips were cold.

An indescribable irritation and grievance wrapped around him like a vine, strangling him so hard that he could hardly breathe.

He stiffly placed the thermos on the table with a thud, a sound that was particularly abrupt in the quiet dining room. He pulled out a chair and sat down with his back to the door, not wanting anyone to see his expression, which might have lost control at the moment.

Time passed by minute by minute. The only light in the dining room was the cold incandescent light and the heavy beating of his own heart. He stared at the "Aseptic Operation Standards" diagram hanging on the wall, and the familiar lines and words blurred before his eyes.

The vague images of "Doctor Shen" and "Director Liu's daughter" flashed through his mind uncontrollably, as well as the picture of them standing with Jiang Lin. Every time he imagined it, it was like a new wound was cut open in his heart.

After an unknown amount of time, the dining room door was pushed open, and a cool breeze from outside, mixed with the faint smell of disinfectant and medicine, rushed in. Along with it came a powerful and familiar presence.

Gu Yansheng didn't turn around. But his nerves were tense as he clearly sensed the tall, straight figure walking in, carrying the unique coldness of an operating room and a subtle hint of fatigue.

The footsteps stopped behind him. Jiang Lin seemed to see the thermos on the table.

"You're here." Jiang Lin's voice sounded, low and steady, with the unique hoarse magnetism of someone who had just come off the operating table. Not much emotion could be heard in his voice, but one could feel that his tense nerves relaxed a little when he stepped into this space where Gu Yansheng was.

Gu Yansheng didn't respond. He still had his back to Jiang Lin, his body stretched straight, like a fully drawn bow. The nameless anger still burned in his chest, a mixture of the grievance of hearing "introductions" twice and the subtle panic. He didn't even know why he was so angry, only that his chest felt uncomfortable and tight. An impulse made him not want to talk to anyone, and just want to... lose his temper.

Jiang Lin didn't seem to mind his silence and walked straight to the chair next to him and sat down. The chair made a slight scraping sound. Gu Yansheng could feel Jiang Lin's eyes on his tense face.

"What did you bring?" Jiang Lin asked again, reaching out to take the thermos, his fingertips seemed to accidentally touch Gu Yansheng's hand on the table.

Just as Jiang Lin's fingers were about to touch the handle of the thermos flask——

Gu Yansheng moved suddenly!

With a speed so impulsive he didn't even realize it, he grabbed the thermos and held it tightly in his arms! His movements were abrupt and childish, as if he was protecting his food.

"Nothing!" Gu Yansheng's voice came out hard, a little higher than usual, with a sharp edge and anger that he himself was not aware of. He still didn't look at Jiang Lin, but just held the thermos tightly, as if it was a treasure that could not be taken away, as if he was building an invisible barrier.

The dining room fell into deathly silence.

Gu Yansheng himself was startled by the sudden movement and tone. His heart pounded in his chest, making his eardrums buzz. What was he doing? Why would he do something so... almost childish? This was completely unlike him!

But after this action, the pent-up anger in his chest seemed to...release a little? Then came a deeper sense of bewilderment and a hint of hidden shame—what on earth was he getting so angry about?

The silence was not one of confusion, but a suffocating sense of oppression that was ready to explode.

A few seconds of dead silence seemed as long as a century.

Then, Jiang Lin moved.

He didn't say anything, nor did he even try to touch the thermos again. He simply turned his body completely towards Gu Yansheng very slowly and with undeniable force.

The shadow cast by the towering figure instantly enveloped Gu Yansheng, trapping him completely within its aura. The cold, yet powerful aura, a mixture of disinfectant and Jiang Lin's unique aura, enveloped him tightly like an invisible net.

Gu Yansheng's body tensed even more, and the arm holding the thermos even began to tremble slightly. He still kept his head down, like an ostrich, trying to hide himself, avoiding the gaze that seemed to see through his soul.

"Look up." Jiang Lin's voice finally rang out, deep as the surging water beneath the ice, carrying the weight of an unquestionable command. It wasn't a question, not a negotiation, but a resolute demand.

Gu Yansheng's heart suddenly sank, and his body subconsciously resisted. He didn't want to look up, not wanting Jiang Lin to see his out-of-control expression and the emotions that might be revealed in his eyes.

"Gu Yansheng." Jiang Lin called his full name again, his tone a little more emphatically. The water beneath the ice seemed to carry sharp ice chips, piercing the eardrums. At the same time, a large hand, with the slightly cool temperature unique to the operating room, forcefully and without hesitation grasped Gu Yansheng's chin!

The force wasn't rough, but it was definitely strong, with an irresistible control. Gu Yansheng was forced to raise his head, and was caught off guard by Jiang Lin's bottomless eyes.

There was no doubt or surprise, only a deep, all-seeing ink color, surging with an almost substantial, offended displeasure and an absolute, ownership-claiming scrutiny.

His gaze was as sharp as a knife, as if it wanted to peel off layer by layer the calm shell that Gu Yansheng was trying hard to maintain, and pierce straight into the chaotic and turbulent waves in his heart.

"Look at me." Jiang Lin's thumb, covered in calluses, rubbed the corners of Gu Yansheng's mouth, which were slightly hot from his excitement, forcefully and almost roughly. His movements carried a strong sense of possession and a subtle hint of irritation. "Tell me, what's wrong?"
