Looking for an answer

Looking for an answer

The cold water splashed on his face. Gu Yansheng looked at the person in the mirror with a red face and panicked eyes, and felt his heart beating wildly.

Jiang Lin's calm attitude, his nonchalant tone, and the words "I'll go back to Shilong Town in the afternoon"... were like small thorns that pricked his heart, making him feel sour and bitter, and with an indescribable grievance.

Jiang Lin didn't seem to be in any awkward atmosphere...it was as if he was the only one who experienced what happened last night.

Did Jiang Lin say those things last night on impulse because he was also drunk?

Or... did he mistake me for someone else? After all, the way I looked last night...

Now that he is sober, he regrets it, so he plans to pretend nothing happened and just walk away?

The more Gu Yansheng thought about it, the more upset he felt. The more he thought about it, the more wronged he felt. He was the one who had provoked him first! He had upset her so much, and now he was acting like nothing had happened! Why?!

By the time he finally finished washing up and changing his clothes, Jiang Lin had already placed breakfast on the dining table: simple white porridge, a few light side dishes, a fried egg, and a cup of warm honey water - obviously prepared for his hangover.

The two sat at the dining table in silence. Jiang Lin ate his breakfast quietly, his movements polite and his eyes fixed on the other side, as if the person sitting opposite him was just an ordinary roommate.

The only sounds on the dining table were the gentle clinking of dishes and chopsticks and Gu Yansheng's own chaotic heartbeat.

Gu Yansheng stirred the porridge in the bowl without tasting the food. The calmer Jiang Lin was, the more aggrieved and dissatisfied he felt. He secretly looked up at Jiang Lin. The other party looked normal, and even the small scab on his lower lip seemed particularly glaring, as if silently reminding him of the absurdity of last night and his current "turning his back on him".

Gu Yansheng felt very uncomfortable during the breakfast. After he finally managed to finish it, Jiang Lin cleaned up the dishes neatly and said lightly, "I'm going to the study to take care of something." Then he turned and left, leaving Gu Yansheng alone facing the empty living room.

Time passed minute by minute, and Gu Yansheng was suffering like a trapped beast on the sofa in the living room. He would lie on the sofa in a daze for a while, and then suddenly sit up.

Jiang Lin is going back to Shilong Town in the afternoon. If he doesn’t explain things clearly today…will those words and that kiss last night really just…end up like this?

No! Absolutely not!

He had finally waited for Jiang Lin's feelings, how could he let this go on in a muddled way? Even if... even if Jiang Lin regretted it, he had to tell him in person! He had to die with a clear understanding!

An inexplicable courage mixed with grievance and unwillingness suddenly rushed to his head. Gu Yansheng stood up with a "whoosh" and strode towards the study. He even forgot to knock on the door and pushed it open with a "bang"!

Jiang Lin was sitting behind his desk, facing the computer screen, typing something on the keyboard, seemingly working.

Hearing the noise, he raised his head and was obviously stunned when he saw Gu Yansheng standing at the door, with a fierce look, red eyes, and a face full of grievance and stubbornness.

"Jiang Lin!"

Gu Yansheng rushed to the desk in a few steps, put her hands on the edge of the table, and leaned forward slightly. Her beautiful eyes were now filled with accusations and grievances, just like a young wife who had been taken advantage of but had nowhere to appeal.

"You...what you said last night...does it count?!"

His voice trembled slightly with excitement, and with a barely perceptible sob, "You did... did... me like that! And now you want to pretend nothing happened? Just walk away this afternoon? You... were you drunk too? Did you mistake me for someone else? How could you do this?!"

Jiang Lin was caught off guard by this sudden series of questions.

He thought Gu Yansheng needed time to digest the situation and didn't want to force him to make a decision while he was still confused, so he deliberately kept his distance, wanting to wait for him to come back from Shilong Town, or wait until he calmed down before talking.

Unexpectedly... he bumped into me first, with an expression that said "you're the one who cheated on me and then abandoned me".

Looking at Gu Yansheng's aggrieved and forced look, a faint smile flashed across Jiang Lin's eyes, but his face remained expressionless. He did not answer Gu Yansheng's barrage of questions, but stood up directly.

Before Gu Yansheng could react, Jiang Lin had already walked around the desk and stood in front of him. Then, in front of Gu Yansheng's astonished eyes, he reached out, grabbed Gu Yansheng's wrist, and pulled hard -

"Ah!" Gu Yansheng exclaimed, feeling an irresistible force coming, and his body instantly lost balance. The next second, he fell on Jiang Lin's strong thighs!

This position! This posture!

Gu Yansheng froze, his mind went blank. It was not like this before, but at that time it was purely out of brotherhood, without any distractions.

But now... after last night's confession and kiss, after both of them knew that their "friendship goes beyond childhood sweethearts", this action instantly became extremely ambiguous and intimate!

Jiang Lin obviously realized this as well. His arm that was supporting Gu Yansheng's waist stiffened slightly, and a hint of discomfort flashed in his deep eyes, but this discomfort was fleeting, so fast that it was impossible to catch it.

He accepted this subconscious action almost immediately, and more naturally put his other hand around, firmly holding Gu Yansheng in his arms, forming a tight, possessive posture.

Gu Yansheng could clearly feel the warmth and strong heartbeat coming from Jiang Lin's chest, which made him feel flustered even through the thin clothes.

His body was frozen, not daring to move. Even the courage he had to challenge the enemy had mostly disappeared, leaving only a flushed face and helplessness.

Jiang Lin lowered his head, resting his chin lightly on the crook of Gu Yansheng's neck, and took a deep, almost greedy breath. His nostrils were filled with the familiar, clean scent of Gu Yansheng with a hint of medicine.

This breath made his heart, which had been tense all morning, finally relax slowly.

"I didn't pretend it didn't happen."

Jiang Lin's low voice sounded in his ears, with a soothing magnetism, and his warm breath brushed against Gu Yansheng's sensitive earlobes, "I didn't drink, and I didn't treat you as someone else."

He paused, tightened his arms around Gu Yansheng, and his voice carried a subtle hint of helplessness and...indulgence?

"Shengsheng, every word I said last night was true." He raised his head, his deep gaze locked onto Gu Yansheng's panicked eyes, "I didn't give you a clear 'explanation' because..."

Jiang Lin sighed slightly, and unconsciously stroked the soft fabric on Gu Yansheng's waist with his fingertips, looking at him with complicated eyes.

"You were in a terrible state last night, sick and drunk. I was afraid you wouldn't have time to process what I said. I was also afraid... your impulsive response wouldn't come from a clear mind. I want to give you time to think it through."

His voice was low and serious. "Relationships are no joke, especially between us... I don't want you to accept it blindly just because you're emotionally moved or confused. I want you to tell me your answer clearly and plainly, when you're fully awake and free of any distractions."

Jiang Lin's eyes were sharp and focused, with the calmness and patience that only a person in control could possess. "The holiday is over now. I'm going back to Shilong Town this afternoon. This isn't an escape; it's giving you space and time to think. When you've made up your mind, tell me whatever the answer is."

He raised his hand and gently brushed away the messy hair on Gu Yansheng's forehead. His movements were unbelievably gentle, but his tone was filled with unquestionable certainty, "I'll wait for you."

These words, like a reassurance, instantly soothed all of Gu Yansheng's anxiety and grievances. It turned out... Jiang Lin was more serious than he had imagined, and cherished this relationship even more.

Gu Yansheng stared blankly at Jiang Lin's handsome face, the scab on his lower lip left by him, the deep, undisguised affection and patience in his eyes...

A warm current instantly surged through my body, washing away all the previous embarrassment, panic and grievance.

He didn't need to think about it anymore.

The answer was already in his heart.
