When ginkgo nuts fall to the ground, Ji Xia would always collect half a bag and take it back to the brigade. He would crack open the shells, leave the ginkgo nuts to dry, and then use them to cook porridge or stew soup.
A row of vegetables was planted under the wall, with several green beans and cucumbers climbing up the bamboo trellis at the corner of the wall, forming a small shady canopy for the wall.
Looking at the familiar old house, Ji Xia's face showed a hint of nostalgia as she casually asked, "Have you had dinner yet?"
"No, what would you like to eat? I'll go to the restaurant and buy two portions."
"I've already eaten, so don't go to a restaurant. If you don't mind if it's not good, I'll cook you a bowl of noodles?"
"How could it be bad? My brother even told me that you made two dishes with pheasant yesterday, and they were so delicious that I wanted to swallow my tongue."
Upon hearing that Ji Xia had personally prepared the food for him, Chen Jing was filled with excitement, and his sharp features softened.
If it weren't for the fact that his clothes were too thin and tight, revealing too much of his muscular chest and physique, Ji Xia thought he looked like a silly big dog when he smiled.
She glanced at his bulging chest muscles and felt her ear tips getting hot, so she looked away uncomfortably.

Feigning calmness, he gestured towards the well by the wall: "I'll cook you noodles. Go to the well and fetch water to take a bath. It's so hot today, a bath will make you feel better."
Before Chen Jing could respond, Ji Xia reminded him again, "You know my brother's room, right? You should be able to wear his clothes. Go and get a couple of pieces to change into."
"Okay, I'll go find it myself. You cook the noodles."
Seeing Ji Xia making arrangements so gently, just like a newlywed couple, Chen Jing felt excited just thinking about it.
