The quality of teachers and the emphasis on teaching in the capital are definitely much better than in their rural areas.
Ji Xia wanted to work on the key points and practice papers, and when she heard that Rong Ruoshi was going back to school to review, she immediately had an idea.
She not only wanted the exam papers from Beijing, but also the review materials and test papers from several provinces with high college entrance exam difficulty.
In those days, the college entrance examination used a single national exam paper, unlike later years when different regions used different papers.
If she could get her hands on the review focus points and exam papers from several provinces with high college entrance examination rates, it would definitely be of great benefit to her.
Rong Ruoshi was initially somewhat resistant to cultural points, but after hearing what she said, she felt it made sense and readily agreed.
After leaving the Rong family, Chen Jing asked, "Where do you want to go now?"
Ji Xia looked up at the misty rain in the sky and felt a slight stinging chill on her fingers, then shook her head.
"Let's go to the library instead. There will be plenty of opportunities to visit tourist attractions. We can think about it after we pass the exam!"
Even if you're going to visit tourist attractions, it's not the right time to go when it's raining in the spring, is it? Is it really true that love conquers all, and a walk in the rain is more romantic?
Ji Xia rubbed her fingers together; even the most romantic stroll in the rain was thwarted by the biting cold on her fingertips.
Chen Jing thought it made sense: "Okay, I'll take you to the library, then go find Wang Yuan and urge them."
Watching Ji Xia enter the library, he turned around and went to the department store to buy two decks of cards and a pound of fried peanuts, then turned to find Wang Yuan.
Anyway, their goods are already sold out. In this weather, what could be more comfortable than playing cards?
I heard that Wang Yuan, Xiao Hui, and their gang of underlings were really happy playing Dou Dizhu (a card game), so they invited their friends and set up two tables in the courtyard.
"Come on, Jing-ge, I'll sit at your table!"
"Me too, Jing-ge, count me in."
Several people scrambled to sit next to Chen Jing, who laughed and said, "It's all the same who you sit with. Find a seat! Who's going to deal the cards?"
"I'll send it, I'll send it—"
Wang Yuan eagerly grabbed a deck of cards, tore open the outer box, pulled out the cards, shuffled them quickly, and whispered, "Brother Jing, when will the second batch of goods arrive?"
Upon hearing this, the others in the room immediately fell silent, staring nervously at Chen Jing's expression.
Chen Jing casually took out a cigarette case and handed a cigarette to each of them. Someone immediately lit one for him.
He exhaled a puff of smoke before asking unhurriedly, "Getting in a hurry? You made quite a bit of money on the last batch, didn't you? You won't go hungry if you come back a few days later, will you?"
"Of course not, we're just concerned about Brother Jing's money-making plans, right?"
"Don't worry, the next batch of 1,000 pieces will be delivered, and you'll definitely make a profit."
Chen Jing's mind raced: "Actually, making money isn't just about setting up a stall. How about this, whichever of you finds me a shop, I'll get a 50 yuan commission for each successful deal, and a 10 yuan commission if I don't."
"real?"
The henchmen's eyes lit up; they were immediately tempted.
After playing Dou Dizhu for a while, the three people who were playing cards with Chen Jing stayed with him without any worries, while the other five played a few rounds and then made excuses to go out and find a shop.
Less than two days later, while Chen Jing and Wang Yuan were still playing cards, one of his underlings brought him some news: a teahouse in Wangfujing that had been closed for a long time was reportedly planning to sell and had already reported it to the housing management office.
Upon hearing this, Chen Jing immediately threw down the cards in his hand: "I'm not playing today. I'm going to go take a look. You guys play by yourselves."
Wang Yuan and the others also put away their cards: "Brother Jing is buying a shop? Let's go and see for ourselves?"
Chen Jing gave a noncommittal reply and went with Wang Yuan and his younger brother Zhao Hui.
As soon as he arrived at the housing management office, Du Wei, the staff member who had processed his property ownership certificate several times, saw him and was overjoyed: "Great! I was just looking for you, and here you are!"
Chen Jing naturally offered him a cigarette, but Du Wei pushed it back, saying, "Don't rush to smoke. Let me tidy up the files and take you to the landlord right away. I heard that someone has already taken a liking to that shop."
Upon hearing this, Chen Jing immediately put away his cigarette: "Okay, no problem, I'll go with you!"
Less than ten minutes later, Du Wei came out carrying a file bag and took Chen Jing and the other two to Wangfujing by bus.
As he led Chen Jing along, he explained, "That shop used to be a teahouse, selling tea and where you could also enjoy tea and play chess. It just closed down two or three months ago."
"I heard that the shop owner went to Hong Kong Island a few months ago and has only just returned. He probably sold off his properties and moved his whole family to Hong Kong Island."
As Du Wei spoke, he led Chen Jing off the bus and along Wangfujing Street to a time-honored photo studio. Sure enough, there was a teahouse next to it that was closed.
"The homeowner shouldn't be here yet. I just called him from my office and told him to come."
As they were talking, a middle-aged man with a gentle demeanor walked out of the alley next to the teahouse. He stood at the alley's exit, looking around. When he saw Du Wei and the others, he greeted them with a smile.
"Comrade Du is here?"
He walked up to Du Wei and Chen Jing and smiled calmly: "I am Wang Hua, and this is Mr. Lin?"
“Mr. Lin? No, my name is Chen Jing. Comrade Wang, you can just call me Xiao Chen.”
As Chen Jing spoke, he reached out and shook Wang Hua's hand, but Wang Hua frowned: "Surname Chen? Aren't you from the Lin family of Haishi?"
No, it's not.
Remembering what Du Wei had mentioned about someone expressing interest in buying the property, Chen Jing laughed heartily: "Comrade Wang, it doesn't matter if my surname is Lin or Chen, as long as it's real money when I transfer the property, right?"
Wang Hua hesitated for a moment: "That's not how it works. I made an appointment with the Lin family, and I can't break my promise."
Du Wei chimed in with a smile, "It's good that Comrade Wang keeps his word. However, even if you wait for the Lin family, the deal might not go through. In that case, why not open the door and let Comrade Chen take a look? Both families can discuss the price, and you won't lose out on the price."
