Chapter 192 Old Friends, It's Not Difficult to Meet Again

Chen Jing pondered for a while, then turned his head to stare at her smiling face, and couldn't help but smile.

"My dear wife, you are the pillar of our family. I'll listen to you. Where do you want to go for fun?"

Ji Xia's eyes crinkled at the suggestion: "I like finding good food and I also like having fun. How about we go to the provincial capital?"

"To the provincial capital?"

"Yes, the provincial capital is famous for its morning tea. Also, I've heard that there are many clothes available for wholesale in the provincial capital. I'd like to check it out."

Just as Chen Jing was about to agree, he suddenly heard a surprised voice beside him: "Ji Xia, long time no see?"

The two turned around, and under the dim streetlights, two girls carrying a bunch of wildflowers passed by. When they saw Chen Jing and Ji Xia, they exclaimed with surprise and joy.

One of the girls was familiar to me; she was Su Yujing, the daughter of the county party secretary.

Half a year has passed, and Su Yujing has matured a lot. She is wearing an elegant Chanel-style dress, with her hair slightly curled at the ends and tied high over her shoulders, looking elegant, fashionable, and charming.

She was holding the hand of a young girl beside her, looking at Ji Xia and the other girl with surprise.

Ji Xia waved, both surprised and delighted: "Su Yujing, what a coincidence, where are you going?"

"Just came out of the movie theater. What about you? I haven't seen you in half a year. Where have you been?"

Ji Xia couldn't help but smile shyly: "We didn't go anywhere. We've been busy studying for the college entrance exam for the past six months, and we haven't had time to go out."

"The college entrance exam? Oh right, I remember now."

Su Yujing looked at them in surprise for several moments and asked, "You guys took the college entrance exam these past few days?"

"Yes, I just finished the exam this afternoon, so I'm feeling a bit more relaxed now."

"So how did you do on the test? Were the questions difficult?"

Ji Xia shook her head: "It's alright, not too difficult, I think it's quite simple."

"Easy? How is it easy? My friends all say this year's questions are harder than last year's."

Ji Xia looked over upon hearing the sound and saw a young girl, about seventeen or eighteen years old, arm in arm with Su Yujing, wearing a polka-dot sleeveless Peter Pan collar dress.

This style is a summer design by Ji Xia, with a white background and large red polka dots. It's a popular new style this year, and it looks quite good on her face and figure, but her eyes look a bit arrogant.

However, she didn't recognize the girl and looked at Su Yujing with suspicion.

Su Yujing smiled apologetically: "This is my aunt Jiang Xiaoyue. She is also taking the college entrance examination this year. Do you really think the questions are not difficult?"

Ji Xia nodded: "I think it's okay, not too difficult."

Jiang Xiaoyue scoffed, about to retort, when Chen Jing couldn't help but tease, "What's so strange about it if you can do it, and of course you'll find it difficult if you can't?"

Jiang Xiaoyue's face changed color, and Su Yujing quickly shook her head at her.

"She didn't do very well on the exam and is in a bad mood. Please don't take offense. Ji Xia, when are you free? I'd like to invite you for tea."

"Want some tea? Are you free tomorrow noon or morning? I'm planning to go home this afternoon."

"Okay, I'll come find you at nine o'clock tomorrow morning?"

After getting their address, Su Yujing smiled, waved, and left with her aunt.

Watching her retreating figure, Ji Xia felt a pang of emotion.

Turning around, she saw a hint of resentment in Chen Jing's eyes.

"What's wrong?" she asked, looking at him with a puzzled expression.

Chen Jing sighed: "You finally get to relax, and you're on a date again."

"I'm a regular customer. Maybe I want to order some clothes again. How about we have some tea?"

"You just promised me you'd go out and relax for a few days, and now you're doing it again."

Ji Xia couldn't help but chuckle: "Even if we want to relax, we can't just leave right away. Teacher Liu said today that we have to go back to school the day after tomorrow to check the answers and estimate our scores. I guess the application process will be over soon too. We can only go out and have fun after we've applied to schools, right?"

Chen Jing couldn't help but look disappointed.

Ji Xia clung to his arm and said coquettishly, "Don't be angry. You make the plans, and I'll ask when I can leave when I get back to school. I'll do whatever you say."

Chen Jing's lips curled up into a satisfied smile.

They walked for two or three hours, until Ji Xia's legs were sore and she had almost digested her dinner, before returning to the guesthouse.

Looking at the guesthouse in front of them, and then at the roast duck in his hand, Chen Jing gave her a subtle look: "How about we buy two bottles of beer and have some roast goose for a late-night snack?"

Ji Xia licked her red lips without opening her eyes. Beer and roast goose should be quite good.

"Okay, but will the waiter agree?"

"Shall we sneak up with some beer?"

Chen Jing winked at her, and sure enough, bought two cans of beer and stuffed them into his trouser pocket. While the waiter was away, he sneaked up to the second floor.

Two days ago, during the college entrance examination, the guesthouse was packed with people. If you arrived late, you could only share a room with your classmates.

But after the exams ended this afternoon, most of the candidates checked out, and the guesthouse became quiet.

The two carried the roast goose and two cans of beer up to the second floor, and didn't encounter any strangers along the way.

Even so, sneaking around is still very exciting.

Back in Ji Xia's room, the two couldn't help but smile at each other, both seeing a hint of excitement in each other's eyes.

"Come on, let's drink until we drop tonight!"

"Two cans of beer and you're not leaving until you're completely drunk?"

Ji Xia chuckled, lifted the aluminum lid of the rice bowl, and sniffed it: "It hasn't gone bad, it still smells delicious."

Chen Jing opened the beer bottle and handed it over: "Here, even if you don't get drunk, you can still relax for the night."

Ji Xia had only taken two or three sips of her drink when she grabbed a goose leg and began to gnaw on it with relish, when suddenly there was a knock on the door.

Ji Xia and Chen Jing immediately stopped laughing and turned around in surprise to look at the door.

"Open the door! What are you doing? If you don't open the door, I'll call the police."

Chen Jing quickly opened the door, explaining with a smile, "Comrade, we're just having a late-night snack, we don't plan on doing anything else. We got some roast goose to go, why don't you come and try some?"

The waiter stood at the door with a stern face and glanced inside. The two men were dressed neatly, with a box of roast goose in the middle of the table and a can of wine for each of them. They hadn't done anything wrong.

She felt a sense of relief, but then reprimanded him with a stern face, "What are you trying to do, a man and a woman drinking alone together so late at night? Are you planning to have sex after drinking? If you want to have a late-night snack, go back to your room."

Chen Jing looked gloomy and glanced helplessly at Ji Xia: "She's my fiancée. What do you mean by 'a man and a woman alone'?"

"A fiancée is not a wife, and we haven't registered our marriage. I can't stay in a female classmate's room after 8 PM."

Seeing the waiter's persistently cold face, Ji Xia suppressed a laugh, poured half of the roast goose out of the lunchbox lid and handed it over: "Here you go, take it back to your place to eat."

Helpless, Chen Jing took the lunchbox, picked up the beer, waved to Ji Xia, and left the room.

The waiter stared blankly at his retreating figure until he returned to his room, then offered him earnest advice.

"A man's words are deceitful. You're preparing for college entrance exams, so be smart and don't let a man's sweet talk fool you. Otherwise, all that studying will be for nothing."

Although it didn't sound nice, the waiter's words were genuinely for her benefit.

Ji Xia knew her good intentions and sincerely thanked her: "Thank you, comrade, I'll treat you to a late-night snack!"

As she spoke, she handed over the roast goose: "Chef Tang from the suburbs has a signature dish, would you like to try one?"
